Still no deleting of 0 point games in my profile. I'm never going to get that turd Monster Madness off my profile.

PixyJunket 11-20-07 12:50 PM

That's basically the same list posted months ago.

Mopower 11-20-07 01:03 PM

I know those are just rumor but how to they expect you to record TV on your 360. Last I knew there weren't any A/V inputs. So they think there is going to be this functionality but no info on the stand alone box that will have these inputs and make it functional?

Oh well that's great. Another thing to eat up bandwidth.

I guess this thru me off - "support for TiVo like PVR options. Will be able to record TV direct".

Save Ferris 11-20-07 01:17 PM

doesnt MS hold all those patents from the 'webTV' product from a few years ago?

aerobson 11-20-07 01:18 PM

Xvid support? Woo!

This isn't going to happen, is it?

Jtnguyen12 11-20-07 03:28 PM

Where is new BC XBOX games pack ???

Spiderbite 11-20-07 03:46 PM

That TV video is awesome. Wonder who the TV providers will be and the additional cost? I would love to dump my current cable provider Charter.

So I guess instead of buying an expensive HD-DVR for satellite, you can buy a 360 and that will act not only as a game system but your HD-DVR as well. Totally cool and at a great hardware price (depending that TV service doesn't cost an arm & a leg). Put a 360 in every room you need an HD-DVR and now you can game at every TV as well. Love it.

I would be the first to jump on this.

I found this interesting little tidbit online today. It shows you how to get manufacturing info about your Xbox, based on it's serial number:

SERIAL NO.

LNNNNNN YWWFF

L the number of the production line within the factory
NNNNNN the number of the Xbox within this week
Y the last digit of the production year
WW the number of the week of the production year
FF is the code of the factory your xbox was made (02=Mexico, 03:=Hungary, 05=China, 06=China2)

Xbox Version ?

* If xbox was made in Hungary (FF==03)

Your xbox is a v1.0

* If xbox was made in Mexico (FF==02)

If MFG. DATE is November 2002 or later you have a xbox v1.1, else you have a xbox v1.0

* If xbox was made in China (FF==05 || FF==06)
Ergo:
My serial number: 914703474305
Production Line: 9
Number of the Xbox for the week: 147034
Last digit of the Production Year: 7
Week # of the Production Year: 43 (week of October 21)
Country of origin: 05 (China)

A Live Arcade blade is definitely necessary. It's bad enough I have to go to Games and then Live Arcade. It should be an option right there above Game Demos.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but w/ 9 threads to go through ;) Anyway I just got a 360 Elite and I'm running into a weird problem. Occasionally, so far I haven't been able to detect a pattern to it, I'll get the "select a memory device" screen during the middle of a game. It's not too frequent and at first it was only happening w/ Halo3, but now it's happened w/ another game as well. Anyone seen this behavior before and know what may be causing it? It will also occasionally freeze when I do a shutdown from the controller. Not to mention the thing is noisy as hell, but people have mentioned that so that was expected. Did I get a defective unit?

Trevor 11-21-07 06:30 AM

With the TV support, I hope they add the option to attach external HDs. My 20 gig constantly fills up with demos that I'd rather keep but have to delete. 120 won't be enough for me either.

Nemein, I'd return it, sounds defective to me. But wait for some more opinions, I'm not a big gamer lately so I'm a bit behind the curve.

Are the recent MS wireless headsets better than the initial release? I know there were a lot of complaints when it first came out, but I thought I read recently (here?) that the newer ones work fine.

I have read reviews that they are. Take a look at the reviews for the wireless Halo headset on Amazon. A lot of them talk about comparisons to that one and the old one.

I never had an original one but I have the wireless Halo headset and it works perfectly. No problems so far and it is much more comfortable than the wired headset. It is expensive but I have not regretted the purchase one bit. Well worth the cash.

Canis Firebrand 11-21-07 08:34 AM

I never got the initial wireless one because CzarCastic said it really had problems and he took it back. The new one, in his comparison, he says works a lot better. I have the new halo wireless one as well and think it works good.

The only thing I've noticed is that occasionally, the voices will come through the tv and then switch back to the headset. It might be because it goes into a sort of sleep mode if you don't talk for long periods. Some games I end up not saying much and just listening.

Hey ALL,

Looks like the Xbox 360 Pro is on sale at Best Buy on Black Friday for $349.99.

I just bought one there a week ago for $379.99, would I be able to take my receipt into them and would they credit me the $30 bucks?

?

The Pro's MSRP is $349.99 - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360prosystem/

Did you get something else with it for the extra $30 because I don't think BB has sold it for $380 ever.

I think I ate too much turkey and it's caused some brain damage. My bad, for some reason I forgot taxes in my purchase. :( dumba$$

The Amazon DOTD for today is Rainbow Six: Vegas (Limited Edition) for $19.99, if anyone is interested.

Is the single player worth it?

Yes, it's an excellent single player experience. And very different from other RB6 games (which for me is a good thing.)

Along w/ the above I now have the problem of the attached HD drive not showing up about 1/2 the time on start up. I'm trying to arrange for a replacement now :( One question though, what's the best way (or is there even a way) to xfer my saved games from the current machine to the new one? I'd prefer not to just swap the HDs (if someone was thinking along those lines) in case it is the HD that is the part of the problem. I see there are 512M and 64M memory cards available, are those the only sizes? I don't suppose there's any place that rents them is there? Can a regular USB drive be plugged in (even if it requires formatting through the system)? How about if I put both of them on a network is it possible to do a direct xfer?

TIA

Just picked up a 360 Pro w/ the free controller and GHII for $60 at circuit city this morning. Now the hard part... waiting for Christmas!!

ElementZ 11-23-07 03:05 PM

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a 42" Panasonic Plasma PX77. Was wondering if anyone has this same TV and plays 360. Wondering what the quality is like and if the burn in or image retention is bad.

Edit: I usually play 2-3 hours of 360 per evening, sometimes more on the weekend.

I just got the 50PX75U for my sister and her boyfriend, who plays plenty of 360. I haven't spent much time there, but after I set it up we played a couple games, looked fantastic. From what I've read and experienced (I have a 42PX60U Panny plasma), new plasmas from quality companies (Panasonic is right up there, not quite Pioneer, but probably one of the better plasma makers) are pretty hard to get burn in on. Just be smart about it - if the game you are playing has a static image that never leaves the screen, even when pausing or going between menus and the game (not many are like this, in my experience, but Madden was this year), just switch input sources once in a while.

Are you set on the 77U? From what I read, the 75U has a VERY slightly better picture, and unless you are in a really bright room with tons of sunlight or lighting, you aren't going to notice any reflections on the 75U. Plus the 75U is generally a bit cheaper.

Finally jumped on a 360 last night. Got the "value pack" which is basically a premium, bundled with Forza and Viva Pinata. Main thing missing is HDMI, but as far as I can tell, only the Elite has HDMI in Japan atm, and that thing is way overpriced.

Further on the negatives, no headset out of the box, huh? Also, and this is weird, the controller with the console has these dodgey battery contacts, so it keeps losing power and disconnecting. I'm gonna buy another controller today and try and get that one replaced.

Apart from that, everything was pretty much a breeze. Connected to live, purchased some points, played some live arcade (when the controller could manage to stay connected). Also, very happy to note that both the pack in games are automatically switched into English, rather than only having Japanese language option. I didn't really want to be trying to optimise cars in Forza in Japanese!

Anyway, my Live ID is "Mr GT Chris".

Nope, the cheap 360 "arcade" even has HDMI, the ones with a manufacture date after August '07, anyways.

Well he said in Japan, so i'm not sure if Japan is different from the US.

Thanks!

I did search for it earlier and only saw the non Limited Edition for $37.99

Picked it up along with the Alien Quadrilogy for $40 shipped! :-)

PopcornTreeCt 11-23-07 08:34 PM

I'm almost tempted to rebuy Rainbow Six. I got it for Christmas last year, beat it, then sold it for $40 earlier this year. I'm tempted but I have so many games I've yet to play.

Spiderbite 11-23-07 09:09 PM

I went ahead and ordered Rainbow Six. The reviews were too bood to pass it up.

And for those that are always looking for deals on Microsoft Points, CompUSA has the 4000 point card on a "manager's special" of $42.98.

Yeah, I suspect these "value" packs (with viva and forza) are just repackaged premiums, maybe even from the first shipment. The price difference between the value and the elite was too big to ignore, but I hope it doesn't explode or similar!
