nothing like "buying" over 30 Live Arcade games but not being able to play any of them because my original 360 died and Live is down.

Live is down for me as well, but I can play my Live Arcade games just fine (though the scores don't get posted), and I'm not using my original 360 either (just the original HD).

I've been to like 3 of 4 Bestbuys, 2 of 3 gamestops, and 2 different frys and I can't find a friggin 360 premium for the life of me. Anyone else have problems? All I see are stacks of Halo ed. and retard ed. Oh, and a bunch of PS3s.

I hear you. I was bummed that I couldn't get into any only games Sunday. But let's be fair, LIVE is up and running most of the year and these outages only occur what, 2 maybe</1> 3 times a year? Hell, most of the time we even have advance warning of outages.

That's because they don't sell the premium anymore.

But the problem seems to be that when it's down, it's usually when I want to play on Live - you know, during holidays and time off work? It's like going to Hawaii for a week, which just happens to be the week that all the beaches are closed. Should I be okay with that since they can keep their beaches open the rest of the year?

OK, I got no answer in the GH3 thread, so I'll try here : My Xplorer just suddenly died last week moments after my wife picked it up during a quick play session (I know, it seemed suspicious to me as well, but I really don't think she did anything to it). It's broken in a funny way -- it will recognise upstrum, but not down, red button but not green, d-pad left, but not right. Any idea what has happened to it? It went from working fine to strangely broken with no transition and I have no clue as to what to do now...

Sounds like an electrical short of some sort. How old is the Xplorer? Perhaps you can still RMA it.

I don't remember what guitar controller it was, but I recall some people getting a slight shock from their controller and then after that it is either completely dead or some buttons don't work any more.

I'm going to pick up Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom next week if anybody is interested in some online hacking, slashing and treasure gathering co-op. I was planning on not buying any games until the February massacre.. but the demo for this one sold me hard.

Yeah, I can't think of any major games coming out in February, but I've been out of the loop lately.

Good question. I'm sure those of us new to the 360 (like me) would appreciate pointers to highly anticipated upcoming titles.

I believe he's referring to Lost Oddyssey.

Or Culdcept Saga February 5th. Shitty graphics. Awesome CCG like gameplay. Bargain price. I will be all over this title.

Isn't GTAIV in February? Or is it March?

My most anticipated game next year isn't a 360 title unfortunately.

I'm tempted by Culdcept Saga, though I don't really see what the difference is over Culdcept (and I never beat that) other than some graphical improvements (and online play? where I will assuredly get beat down by professional CCGers).
What's the estimated price on Culdcept Saga? How bargain is bargain?
Of the Hype List, the only games I know anything about, or knowing something about am still interested in, are:

* Culdecept Saga
* Borderlands
* Fallout 3
* Prototype
* Ghostbusters
* Dead Space
* Brutal Legend
* LEGO Batman

even though the movie of Borderlands on Xbox Live did nothing for me.

Culdcept Saga is supposed to retail at $39.95. I'll most assuredly be picking that one up, as I played the shit out of the PS2 version a few years back.

Here is my take on that list:

Culdcept Saga
GTA IV
Huxley (do you really think it will drop in 08?)
Unreal Tournament III
Too Human
Alan Wake
Chronicles of Riddick

rent or otherwise wait for reviews:
Bully
The Club
Warhammer
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Mercenaries 2
Star Wars Force Unleashed
Ghostbusters
UFC
the 2 Alien games (that i know nothing about)

Halo Wars i will buy if it also hits the PC. RTS sucks so bad on a console.

I also played the crap out of the demo of Culdcept Saga and really enjoyed it. You are right, the opponents have a little bit of the "rubber band" effect to make them competitive but i still enjoyed the game a good deal and would love to play some online. I totally and completely dig CCGs so this game is aimed squarely at me.

2008 seems weak compared to 2007, to me. I think this year (this fall especially) starting with Bioshock, had so many AAA titles that it was almost unprecedented. It will take me most of 2008 to catch up in playing these games.

Here's what I'm excited for:

Mario Kart Wii (if indeed it's for 2008)
Little Big Planet
GTA IV
Metal Gear Solid

And that's about it.
