Ah, ok, didn't know that was the convention. I played some Magic when it first came out, but not much after that.

Finally had the time to set the Eye up and play a game last night. It actually is a lot of fun, and the tutorial videos (in glorious low res!) give you a great idea about how to play. It's just that they're pretty long. I also have no idea how in the world someone could figure out how to play without buying the game and just buying theme decks... I didn't see any kind of comprehensive instructions in the theme decks themselves, and you'd have to have some way of remembering which tile had which element on each side (as well as keeping track of damage and field effects and such)

I see the point of people that say that it could have been done all within the game itself and that the cards and the eye are a gimmick... but it is very cool in person, and I'm now determined to find booster packs somewhere.

PS3 Id is Fujishige

for anyone who wants to add me. This will be my first time venturing into PS3 online play...

OK - WTF. I try to create my own deck with my booster packs mixed in (ony 3 cards)...then I go to edit it using the PS Eye, but it won't scan in all the cards? Can you not have dups of some cards? I thought that only special ones with that marking are limited to 1 per deck? For example, I want a couple of those Ice men or bad ass dwarves, and have the cards, but when trying to register the deck I can only get it to recognize up to 25 cards. LAME. It's reading them perfectly so it's not a setup issue - am I just retarded?

I found out the hard way what you have to do if you use duplicates in your deck.
You have to have them all on the mat at the same time for the computer to know you want multiples of the card in your deck. You may need to remove it from the deck, and then lay down all copies so they scan in.
Double check that the card isn't limited to 1 copy in a deck, just to be safe.

Yep, you have to show the eye the dupes simultaneously. That way you can't show it 1 red dragon 3 times or something. It's a security measure.

Which makes sense, but unfortunately I didn't see any hint saying that that's what you need to do, so I had to go by trial and error too... finally just sorted all the cards and found out the problem.

Seems like you can "unlock" the starter decks for the computer to use by beating the game on normal, though I'm not at that level yet. I don't think you unlock the various elemental decks for your own play, since you still need to put down the physical card while playing, right?

Finally hit the jackpot at a local Target after wandering around town all weekend... only five boosters, but that's the only time I've ever seen any at all, so picked them all up... Opened two, and only got rares, so hoping that I'll at least get an UR in one of the other three packs. I also have the Biolith deck, and so far most of the commons and even uncommons are already dupes...

Sweet - thanks guys. Talk about a lesson in complete unintuitive gameplay setup. Damn.

I'm going to hit target/eb games today to check for packs

Heh.. Wait until you play a game online against another player.
The game actually tells you what cards to draw as it "shuffles" your deck for you. It keeps track of which cards it tells you to draw and if you try and play one that isn't in your hand, and it knows, it tells you invalid card.

I think you can just check the online store availability for ebgames to see which ones have it in stock... I haven't had much experience with it, but it seems to be pretty accurate. Of course, no store around me has any, and the few I've asked say that one guy bought them out as soon as they came in. The website also seems to indicate that there are no more on the way, which I hope is just some glitch.

The UR is some ridiculous ratio, like 1 in 50 rares or something.

I believe the UR ratio is 1:4 decks. The phantom ratio is 1:16 decks. IIRC.

Some dude at Gamestop told me that Sony is not making more cards until they get the copy protection thing worked out.... and since it was a GS employee, I took it with a grain of salt. But seeing Amazon's shipping time at 1-2 months...who knows.

hahaha

I don't see why they would do that. If they were putting extra copy protection into the new cards, well, the old cards would either not work anymore (ticking off all the early adopters) or they would still be able to be copied anyway. And I don't see them recalling the game, which comes with a deck of cards and a booster... Any reputable source report this?

By making them unavailable it seems like they would only drive people to copy the cards more. I imagine many early adopters are passionate CCG folk who would buy the cards to put in binders no matter what. If those people can't buy the cards due to production stopping... i imagine many would resort to looking for pdfs.

I went ahead and ordered this today at Amazon since they are having a deal on it again. I hope there are still some folks on here that are playing it. I really want the camera and figured the game should be worth the difference even if nobody is playing online and I have to play alone.

I am only recently getting into this game as well, just getting a copy the other day and setting it up and playing my first match last night. Feel free to add me as I'll also be looking for people to play online.

Anyone here still playing? Are boosters still hard to find in stores? Anyone still sharing card scans?

I think I might pick this up also. The amazon sell seems to be a pretty good deal.

Considering I really want the camera it was foolish to pass up this deal. I almost bought it the last time they had it that cheap but at that time I didn't even know when I was going to buy a PS3.

I'm not planning on spending a fortune on cards but I can see myself picking up a pack or two each time I'm at a store that sells them. From what I have seem Target is the only store in my area that sells just the booster card packs.

Every time I see this game at Future Shop, I keep getting tempted to buy it. It looks like it's a lot of fun and something unique to play on occasion, but I don't know if I want to make the investment. The only card game like it that I've ever really played is Pokemon Cards as a kid, which was fun, but I can see the booster packs becoming a really expensive investment. It's too bad that they didn't implement some sort of a purchase thing through the game where you can buy cards through in-game currency or something. I'd be willing to pay an extra $20 for that, as opposed to spending an outrageous amount on cards.

I agree that it sucks to have extra cards and boosters for sale at the retail level. I can't see myself ever me than a casual player of the game so I won't be driven to collect a ton of cards. It's like the downloadable content for PS3 and 360 games. After exhausting my deck of cards and getting tired of what I have it won't be that bad to pick up a booster pack to extend the life of the game. I see a case of the cards is about 120.00 or so. Screw that. I'll buy a 4.00 pack now and then over the next year or so.

Honestly, unless you really get into it, I wouldn't bother buying a ton of cards. It's a terrible value (I know, I bought them). Buy some of the pre-made decks, then get a small handful of boosters to switch stuff around.

What I like about this game is that you can play against someone else locally.

I haven't played in months but if someone's up for it, I'd be game. Just give me heads-up so I have time to set everything up.

I agree about the terrible value... you'll have boatloads of the same common cards in no time.

Just bought it at Amazon. Couldn't pass it up for $45 shipped for the camera, game, and some cards. So I'll be playing some of you soon

This is my first purchased PS3 game (I only have MotorStorm which came with it, and it brings my total PS3 game count to 2. Woohoo!

If some many veteran players and new players here are worried about getting a ton of common cards why don't we try and set up a system where we list the cards we have and we can trade on here. I've never traded on here with anyone but with so many long time members in this thread I would certainly be willing to risk mailing doubles I have out to someone as part of an exchange. Anyone else up for the idea?
