Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I already got to play this a couple of weekends ago. It's really good, possibly even amazing, it's just that as I sat there playing it I realized that I just don't give a shit about fighting games anymore.

Yeah, while playing both the new Soul Calibur and SF2HD, I also realized that even with good fighting games, the luster has definitely worn off the genre for me. They feel like mini-games now instead of full-fledged titles.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

agreed. now, if a new Mortal Kombat was released with HD graphics and in 2D of course, I would probably be enamoured with it for months

While I feel the same and echo the mini-game statement, for some reason I'm still really really excited about SF4.

I think I'm going with the PS3 version as well (simply for the Blu-Ray and better D-pad). I'm already on my 5th Xbox and I just don't see my system making it through the rest of 2009.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

My 1st pre-order ever is this for PS3 because of the d-pad and blu-ray.

$49 for PS3 at circuitcity.com
Plus a $10 gift card

Hopefully circuit city stays in business until it comes out. But you get to use the gift card immediately.

It's not just SCIV. The Force unleashed was also 720 on the PS3 and 1080 on the 360. I find it that it's rare to get a game in 1080 on the PS3.

I preordered the Xbox CE. I figure I'll watch the movie once, and play the game for a month or so. I may get a stick, though I doubt it.

And I remember back in the PS1 days, how a lot of people complained about the PS1 joypad, compared to the Saturn pad. Like, the D-Pad being split in the middle made it hard to pull off dragon punches.
I guess the 360 pad is so bad, it makes the PS pad look good?

They've compensated for the split pad and moves are not difficult to pull off w/ the sixaxis/ds3.

IMO the PS d-pad sucks still. It's better than the PS1 d-pad, marginally, but the split setup sucks for SF, although it's tolerable for Tekken somehow.

Joystick FTW

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

This waiting is unbearable. I have store credit from some trade-ins now burning a hole in my pocket, waiting for SFIV ... don't know if I will be able to hold onto it, I've never held onto store credit for more than a couple weeks without blowing it on something

I realize this is a bit late, but 1080p on the 360 for SCIV is untrue.

I don't really understand why the PS3 has two resolutions listed. Either way the 360 isn't rendering at more than 720p.

Re: Street Fighter 4 Announced

I'm almost relieved that I seem to have missed the opportunity to buy the more expensive stick. I'm sure it's impressive, but I'm definitely not a good enough player to tell the difference between the two sticks, and that would be yet another really expensive accessory that would get put in a corner after a while. Now I can just get a kinda expensive accessory that would get put in a corner after a while, to go with my HRAP3.
