Re: The One and Only Virtual Console Thread (Wii)
I finally got a good lighting set up and played the first two levels of Lookleys. Really like it. I know my daughter will love it as well since it has the nice fairy tale theme. Head tracking is pretty good if you can get your lighting and the distance of the DS correct. I think I have the hang of it now and seems a good use of 500 points. I like how finding the solutions for some of the pictures involves waiting for things to happen in the background.
I'm also looking forward to Metal Torrent next week, but have to admit I will probably play it on baby mode. My bullet hell skills are not what they were 15 years ago.

WiiWare
* Art Style: Light Trax (Nintendo, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): A remake of the Bit Generations game Dotstream, in which players control a beam of light racing with other beams.
* Manic Monkey Mayhem (The Code Monkeys Ltd., 1-4 players, 800 Wii Points): Basically, it's a multiplayer shooting game in which your monkey tosses bananas at other monkeys standing on small platforms.
* Viral Survival (NIS America, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Control DNA to dodge virus cells, connecting to other DNA units you see to form a tail -- and, given the proper power-up or game mode, blasting those viruses with "immunity missiles."
DSiWare
* Metal Torrent (Nintendo, 1 player, 500 DSi Points): You can prove your dominance over everyone else playing a vertical shooter through DSiWare, thanks to this game's online leaderboards.
* World Poker Tour Texas Hold 'Em (Hands-On Mobile, 1-6 players, 500 DSi Points): The official game of the World Poker Tour, if that makes a difference. Features local wireless multiplayer.
* Real Crimes: Jack the Ripper (Virtual Playground, 1 player,800 DSi Points): Search for clues in crime scenes as you try to determine the identity of Jack the Ripper in this ... hidden object game.
* Advanced Circuits (BiP media, 1 player, 200 DSi Points): Set down pieces of track to complete roads.

BTW, Real Crimes: Jack the Ripper is a decent idea. I don't know why they try and package these $10 search and find games as $20 and $30 full DS carts. They are a much better idea as DSiWare though 800 points is still asking a bit much. Hopefully it is at least the full PC game.

Re: The One and Only Virtual Console Thread (Wii)
Temperatures aren't the only thing heating up this season as Nintendo celebrates the unofficial onset of summer with another round of red-hot game downloads. May has been an especially big month for the Nintendo DSiWare™ service, with notable recent releases such as Photo Dojo™, Frogger Returns and Metal Torrent™. This week's additions keep the momentum going strong with awesome hand-held games like X-Scape™ and Hero of Sparta. X-Scape is developed by Q Games, the same team that created Trajectile™ and STARSHIP DEFENSE™. (Also, remember that Photo Dojo™ is available for zero Nintendo DSi Points™ through June 10. The game will require 200 Nintendo DSi Points for download as of June 11.) Of course, Wii™ owners have plenty to be excited about too: New offerings include a Ben 10 Alien Force adventure for the WiiWare™ service and the Virtual Console™ debut of a classic cowboy shooter from the Super NES™ era.
It's also time to announce a new addition to the "Big Name Games" section of the WarioWare™: D.I.Y. series, which features downloadable microgames from some of the industry's most talented figures. Created by Nintendo Power™ magazine staffer Steve Thomason, this week's featured game, Revenge, puts an unusual spin on familiar characters from the Mushroom Kingdom. New "Big Name Games" will be added every Monday through July 26, all available to download for zero Nintendo DSi Points to anyone with broadband Internet access and a copy of either WarioWare: D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase software for the WiiWare service. Visit the Nintendo Channel on your Wii system today to learn more about these games.

The button pressing app for DSi may interest some. The shocker of the week for me is the Sunnyville hidden objects game. I bought it for a dollar on iPhone and it is actually a really good game. I find it being $5 on WiiWare funny because Konami also released the same game on DS for $30. So once again Nintendo is the great place to pay big money for all your dollar iphone favorites.

Art Style: Rotozoa™
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Price: 600 Wii Points™
Description: Control a circular creature-like organism known as a rotozoan and nimbly make your way through level after level of primordial ooze. Comprised of only three distinct parts (colored sides, tentacles and life force), the focus of your rotozoan life is simple: grow your tentacles. After playing a few levels and learning the basics of your microscopic world, you begin to unlock additional modes of play and the ability to choose the number of tentacles on your rotozoan. Each mode has its own specific purpose: reach a particular length with your tentacles or grow them to the greatest length possible. In either mode, growing your tentacles means absorbing enemies known as goobugs by touching them. There's just one catch: Successfully absorbing a goobug depends on matching its color to your tentacle. Also, longer tentacles can more easily come in contact with incorrectly colored goobugs (causing damage to the tentacle and decreasing your life force), and the goobugs themselves multiply and begin adapting to your movement. Luckily, objects such as the restorative heart item and special attack-enabling cyclone item can be found floating in the ooze to help your rotozoan survive. With atmospheres ranging from peaceful to intensely challenging, Art Style: Rotozoa offers a wide variety of levels. Victory can only be achieved through quick, precise movement and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Are you ready to take on the goobugs? Games in the Art Style series feature elegant design, polished graphics and pick-up-and-play controls, creating an experience focused purely on fun and engaging game play.

The one N64 game I got (Sin & Punishment), I wasn't thrilled with the control schemes offered. Any chance Nintendo will create an adapter or replicate an N64 controller? Or any reasonably-priced and reliable 3rd party solution?

Re: The One and Only Virtual Console Thread (Wii)
Edit: Here's a press release: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10245790-1.html
It was supposed to be announced at E3 2009. Ugh.
Edit again: Just found this: http://www.japanvideogames.com/Produ...i-898455678550
Looks intriguing, but I don't know anything about this site or this company. I've done my research, it's somebody else's turn. Please provide us with some positive reviews, because I'd love to buy this.

Jesus. It's like they're releasing a bunch of DSi shovelware in lieu of VC games. I suppose that's money saved, but still...

Geez, I guess so. I reckon we should be thankful for Mario Tennis, or something
. Question (and this might be a ridiculously silly question)...what are the chances of a game like Ultima III or Ultima IV coming out for VC? They had fine NES ports and I'd buy them in a heartbeat for VC. I was just thinking about those games the other day.

Mario Tennis was good, but damn, I would have bought Super Tennis in a heartbeat. With the current rate of releases and getting Mario Tennis means I might get my wish sometime in 2013.
