I would be interested in playing some TF2 games when I pick up Orange Box, I will have to look up the dvdtalk group. I never played the original TF.

I need some 7-8 people from here to add me on Steam who are playing Team Fortress 2. I wanna get that 'With Friends Like These...' achievement, which is to play on a team of 8 made up of only people on my friends list.

There are achievements on Steam? Is it played through Live or is it some system just for Steam?

Steam is now setup like XboxLive. You have achievements and your gamer profile shows what you have been playing on Steam. Mine shows a whole lot of Peggle.

The achievements are through Steam (although they'll almost certainly be on Xbox Live too for the 360 version). So far TF2 is the only Steam game to have achievements, but Steam also lets other people see what games you've been playing and how long you've played them in the last two weeks.

Don't worry, it's n00b-friendly. You should be able to pick it up in no time.

The Beta contains all the maps and features that the full game will have, the only difference is you get to play it now while they're ironing out the bugs. 6 maps may not seem like very many, but there will probably be more released in the future, and like all Valve games, you can count on their being 1000 user maps out by the end of the year.

Anyone else having trouble with the 'Head of the Class' achievement, which is to "Play a complete round with every class."

Right now it's at 4 out of 9 classes, but it won't tell me which ones I already did.

Also, in-game it climbs as I try and attain playing as all the classes, I've gotten up to 8 out of 9 classes. But every time I turn off TF2 it goes back to 4 out of 9. Also, it's very vague what it means for 'play a round.' Does that mean play a single respawn, then I die and pick another class? Does it mean play as one class for the entire session until the next map change? Does it mean change classes every time one team completely captures the others control points or flag?

That is ridiculous! This package, even at the $60 360 price tag, has got to be one of the best values in gaming history.

I've rented all of the 360 games I've played so far, but this will be the first I buy.

The Orange Box is a good deal for console gamers, but most PC gamers already have Half-life 2 and Episode 1 so for them the Orange Box isn't that great of a deal.

I already have HL2 and Episode 1, and I'm still excited for the Orange Box. I might not get the value that somebody who has never played them will get, but since I have played them before, I know Valve makes some amazing games. Plus Ep2, Portal and TF2 is a decent amount of content, especially for $38 on release day.

HAHA - hilarious... one of the few PA gems. I'm always a medic in multiplayer where they have classes.

So fucking Gamestop has a deal where you get $5 off of Orange Box if you pre-order it:
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=200198
Either online or in-store, and since I don't want to pay shipping, I opted for in-store.

But when I went to pre-order it, it rang up full price. And when I pointed out that they have this deal running, the employee said that they have no such thing. And me, not being 100% sure, didn't fight him about and just canceled the preorder. Now I'm gonna take a print out of their own website, and stick it in their faces. It's not about the $5 - I shit $5 - it's about the principal of it and how they don't seem to know dick about their own store.

They did that to me once. I ordered online, with in-store pickup. It was $5 cheaper online, but when I picked it up at the store, it was full price. The guy gave some crap about how it was an online only deal, which is stupid to even give the option of in-store pickup, if that's the case.

Or just screw Gamestop and get it from Circuit City for $37.99 (for PC) on release day.
