There should be a more info (I think its the y- button) that will tell you what it is...

Coincidentally, I am now playing the game through for the second time and I have just made it to that guy. I find that one to be the toughest one in the game because you still haven't gotten the really good weapons and plasmids yet. My plan is to wait until the end of the level, and then circle back around to take him out.

Supermallet 08-29-07 12:30 PM

There's a turret underneath the wharf that you can hack. It won't attack the Big Daddy until you do. It doesn't last too long, but it's enough of a distraction that it should give you a head start on pounding the Big Daddy. The other alternative is to not fight the Big Daddy until later. It won't attack you unless you attack it or get too close to the Little Sister.

Quick question:

Any idea how to get in this door?

Spoiler:
Electric buck when you're close, and telekinesis to throw his attacks back at him.

Nice

DRG 08-29-07 05:00 PM

Okay, I'm playing through and saving all the little sisters instead or harvesting them. A question:
Spoiler:
I know you get the reward with 200 ADAM and other goodies after rescuing 3 little sisters. And there are 21 little sisters. So given that 21/3 = 7, does that mean you get the 200 ADAM reward 7 times? Because I've noticed there only appears to be 2 plasmid rewards and 4 tonic rewards associated with these gifts, which only adds up to 6. I'm mainly concerned because I want to conserve enough ADAM to be able to afford all the tonics, but also want to pick up as many Health/EVE upgrades and Tonic/Plasmid slots along the way as needed so I don't have to backtrack to those machines later.

The Bus 08-29-07 05:21 PM

I think the idea is you can't get as many Health or Eve upgrades. Personally, I would not upgrade my Eve much as I never used it that much to begin with.

UncleGramps 08-29-07 05:32 PM

You can also skip plasmids that you don't really use that much.

If I'm remembering correctly, that door will open on its own at a certain point. If it doesn't have a combination, and doesn't have a "push this button to open the door" that lights up when you point at it, then that's the answer.

If there any lists up of where to get all of the 53 plasmids for the achievement? Other than going through all of the plasmids by cycling, is there a way to see what you have and what you need?

The achievement is for 53 tonics, not plasmids. Plasmids don't count. Also, if you didn't save all the Little Sisters, there is no point in going for the achievement. Here's the list I complied over at A360P:

Well, my order of preference in ADAM spending is: 1) getting all the tonics (a must), 2) getting health/EVE upgrades (preferrable), 3) getting tonic slots (if possible), 4) getting new plasmids, 5) getting plasmid splots (I have 4 now, which is enough... it honestly is more annoying than it's worth to have more than 4 slots). It's my second playthrough, and of the purchasable plasmids I'd probably only use upgrades to Electro or Incinerate, or maybe Winter Blast and Target Dummy, and even then I could go without those.

I also noticed that some of the plasmids get cheaper the deeper you get into the game.
Spoiler:
Like Enrage starts off as 60 but it's only 45 at Fort Frolic. And either Cyclone Trap 1 or Insect Swarm 1 is only 5 ADAM at Point Prometheus, I can't remember which... probably because they figure by that point in the game it's a pretty useless plasmid.

Well, I took out Rosey at the wharff and now I can't find the Little Sister .. crap!

That door opens
Spoiler:
when the splicers begin their siege on the lab, after you put the Lazarus formula into the machine in the office.

Yeah, I did that too. You have to make sure you don't kill him when the Sister isn't with him, or else you'll have to wait until another Big Daddy shows up and takes her out of hiding again. You might need to leave the area and come back.

Canis Firebrand 08-30-07 09:29 AM

I had that happen as well. Made me mad. I killed the Big Daddy and died at the same time. When I got back, the little sister was no where to be found. She was near him when I killed him and died.
I had to wait until I found another Big Daddy and he got a little sister out of hiding in the tube/vent thing.

Michael Corvin 08-30-07 10:01 AM

I'm trying to judge how far in I am, how many areas are there? I just finished Fort Frolic last night and saved at the beginning of Hephestus.

Also glanced at Flay's diary list and it looks like I missed one of the big 5. :( Oh well. I'll be going through on hard anyway.

Seems like a good strategy to me. Also, not sure if it's a spoiler, but just in case:
Spoiler:
I barely used Insect Swarm at all, and I tried to use Cyclone Trap once, on a Big Daddy. I think it was during the part where you can't control your plasmids, and it popped up so I decided to try it, but then I realized that it doesn't work on BDs.

I think it says in the description it only works on Splicers.

Michael Ballack 08-30-07 11:10 AM

Just finished the good ending last night. After having played both, even though I usually prefer dark endings, I feel the good ending left me more satisfied. I thought I was really thorough, but I still haven't collected all the blasted diaries. I guess I'll have to get them on hard mode now.

Yeah, I just hadn't read the description and hadn't ever used the plasmid, so I didn't realize it at first.

You are a little more than halfway through. :)

Michael Corvin 08-30-07 01:07 PM

Wow, thanks. I didn't think I was halfway yet. This does seem short. Hard to tell how many hours I've played though. Just a random guess would be 8-10.
