Damn, that actually looks pretty sweet.

The only thing I didn't like about that was seeing the September release date.

Rage: Anarchy Edition Announced
Pre-order id Software's upcoming title and get upgraded for free.

If you're excited about id Software's upcoming title Rage -- and you probably are -- then there's some good news. Bethesda has announced a special version of Rage called the Anarchy Edition that will come with a whole slew of extras.

The Anarchy Edition will allow players to access two special weapons, the Double Barrel Shotgun and the Fists of RAGE. Additionally, players will have access to the Rat Rod Buggy, which will replace your standard in-game buggy, and the Crimson Elite Armor, giving you an extra defensive boost.

The best news of all is that by simply pre-ordering the game, you'll be upgraded to the Anarchy Edition for free. And keep in mind that whether you end up with the Anarchy Edition or not, you'll still have access to a new batch of downloadable missions called The Wasteland Sewers.

Rage is set for release on September 13, 2011.

Yeah, looks awesome. Although I hope that was footage from a console, because some of the textures were really low quality.

This, along with Dark Souls, are my most anticipated games of the year so far.

I am pretty sure it was PC footage since whenever the character talked to someone there was an icon saying to press the E key to talk.

Although it also had wheel-based weapon swapping like consoles whereas PC games typically have the quicker number-hotkey based swapping. Hopefully if it was the PC version it will still use hotkeys.

It looks to me that this game has kind of a cartoony style to it. It's more subtle than Borderlands, but it's there. Maybe that's what you're seeing in the textures, and they're that way by design. I liked Borderlands in spite of it anyway.

The gameplay looked like it was from a console because the pans were very... deliberate, if that's the right word. I think if it was being played with a mouse, it would jump around more, since you can quickly point to targets instead of having to line them up. It could have been from a PC build but played with a gamepad.

Nah, nothing to do with style, some world objects just had stupidly low resolution textures that looked pretty horrible. It was most noticeable on some gauges on some sort of panel in that video.

Yeah, this just got added to my "must buy games in 2011" list, accompanying Skyrim and Arkham City.

The person doing the interviewing is beyond awful, but Carmack still keeps things interesting, regardless.

That was interesting, thanks. Amazing that interviewer was allowed so much time with him. Regardless, good to hear his thoughts on game development, PCs, consoles and limitations on systems.

Carmack is the original "Cliffy B"....it's a shame that current gamers especially console really don't know just what Carmack has done for gaming.

Yeah, it's kind of a bummer that he doesn't get more recognition and respect. It's amazing to see how much he is still involved in both engine development and game design. I hear second hand feedback from people who work with ID all the time, he is EXTREMELY hands on with regards to developing the engine, he still writes a large portion of the code.

I would say that nobody has had more of an influence on modern gaming than Carmack. Although some would say it's Miyamoto (whom I would put at a close #2), I think the dominance of the FPS gives Carmack the edge.

If you've ever heard one of his Quakecon keynote speeches, he does like to talk. A lot.
