Can't talk about stuff like R4DS here... (not that I know what that is)

I thought it all depended on the intended use of the product. I don't intend to use it for games. My intended use for it would be for the purpose of viewing/listening to other media on the DS, other than games, as a functionality enhancement.

If I'm wrong, just forget everything I said

Picked up Jungle Climber yesterday... wow! Fun game!

I'm only up to 2-2... but I'm really liking it so far and am trying to get use to the controls (that A button to attack is throwing me, since I'm used to KoS attack method).

I love the Jungle Beat type things that they put in, like the sunflowers (similar to the monkey's in trees throwing you around), and the gem collecting and other things.

If you liked KoS you'll like this one.

Thanks Gramps.

Now back to helping the... !

I bought one from amazon.com. It does play media but it does not save the location of a stopped movie which I hate. So if you power off you'll have to watch the show from the beginning and fast forward didn't work for me. The only thing I use it for is as a comicbook reader using comicbookds. I think the maker had links where you could get free comics and the heroes comics.

This is probably the best device of this type but I wouldn't buy it again. I wanted more media control and pda functions. I hoping to maybe use this to replace my pda and mp3 player. Well not replace but something that could take the place of those devices most of the time.

The psp is starting to look good to me. I'm think I might be able to use that without the need of a hack device.

Discussing ROMS is obviously not allowed here but this device does alot more than play ROMS. MP3s, pictures, videos, txt readers etc. Here is the one I got.

This one came with a 1 gb micro SD card. Ordered it on a Monday and it arrived on Thursday (DHL shipping).

Here is a similar product that they sell at walmart and TRU.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5131557

Does many of the things the R4DS does but uses a compact flash card and takes up the slot 2 as well. For someone looking for mp3 playback on the DS I think the R4DS is better because it only uses one slot.

Got my free sylus pack today for Brain Age 2. For a freebie it is a nice looking box (metallic looking cardboard) with the seven styluses nicely displayed inside. At least I'm good for styluses forever probably.

Still waiting on mine. I had bought a larger, more comfortable Nyko stylus as a replacement a few months ago, but I can't turn down a freebie, especially 7 of them!

I was able to do the survey for Brain Age 2... but I wish I could find the link to the Zelda promo.

OK, I just took the plunge and bought a DS. I also picked up:

Brain Age
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Etrian's Odyssey
Puzzle Quest

What are the other must-have titles?

All the usual titles that mentioned are good. I'd also get Pac Pix. It isn't a deep game, but it is a lot of fun to me, and can be had for under $10.

I can't remember who recommended it, but Nervous Brickdown is pretty fun. I got it yesterday from Gamefly and spent about an hour on it thus far. Fun little diversion. I might have to pick it up used for around $10 when I can.

Just don't tell TallGuyMe about that game.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. Metroid and Castlevania sound good, as I've enjoyed the very little I've played of each series (the first two Metroids and Symphony of the Night, respectively).

Picross is another one that sounds good -- I used to have that game on my Palm Pilot years ago and always enjoyed it.

I've heard great things about Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center as well, so maybe I'll pick those up, too.

The great thing about DS games is they are so inexpensive, so I feel more willing to take a chance on a game I'd pass on if it cost $50 or $60.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone -- feel free to keep 'em coming.

Also, it plays GBA games, so if you never had a GBA there's a huge library of titles available as well.

Oh, Jason. I see you're in Chicago. They have KB Toys stores there, yeah? They currently have a "Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off" deal going on for all DS and GBA games in store only

What are you looking for? The one KB left in DFW is across the street from where I work/live and was going to stop by after work.
