Fired up Maxtor's MaxBlast, wiped out the drive, created one large partition.... bingo!

If anyone else is having difficulty with their drives, it may be the same thing. (remember to use Maxtor's MaxBlast for drives larger than 32GB... and the drive needs to be formatted FAT32).

I can finally replace my 2GB thumbdrive with this 80GB drive (may end up buying a larger one), load up all of my music, photos, and converted videos for local playback from the 360 without the need to stream from a desktop computer.

Note: This does NOT replace the 20GB 360 drive... you can't store game saves or downloaded content to the external USB drive. It is treated as a "portable device".

What video file types/resolutions can you read from this type of drive? When I connect my Zune, I can't seem to play any of the videos on there which are all WMV files.

Did you check to see if it had HDMI?

My 360 finally died. I was playing last night and had the pixlelation problem afer powering off and on I got 1 red ring and an E74 message. I called Xbox for a coffin a little while ago and they told me to call back in 24 hours because the system is updating and they can't do anything for me at this time. Hopefully I will have it back in time for Halo 3.

WMV. I ran a test with a bunch of WMV videos... varying bitrates and resolutions.... no problem.

Nice package...but it sounds like it won't be until holiday time, November sometime I'd surmise.

How long is the HDMI cable in the elite (or premium, if you're lucky) package?

re: holiday bundles. This will be what, the 2nd or 3rd Christmas for the 360? Wii is still selling like hotcakes, and the games all the "hardcore" gamers are screaming about should be out by Christmas,so I would fully expect a holiday package on at least one console if not the others by the holiday season. That's probably 2-3 months down the road before it's confirmed/official and for sale, so you'd have to balance 3 months worth of gaming versus getting two games free.

Has it been confirmed anywhere (endgadget, etc.) that the new HDMI Premiums are shipping with the 65 nm?

The second I hear that this is true, the 360 will be sitting in my room. Until then, the waiting game hath begun...

It has more or less been confirmed that they are do NOT have the 65nm, just the extra heatsink or whatever.

Is Live down for anyone else? I called a friend and like me, he can sign into Live, but nothing in Marketplace seems to show up. And I wanted to try the Bioshock demo that just went up...

Oh, I also did the connection test, and everything checked fine except for Live.

I'm sorry, I meant how long is it, physically. But it's good to know it'll always be there
I'd have to run it to the back of my TV, which is maybe 4-6 feet as the cable lies.

Ah...whoops.

I'd actually like to know this as well. Although this would be the third HDMI component I have (DirecTV/upscaling DVD player/360) with only one input.

Well the BioShock demo really is amazing. I found myself afraid to venture around corners and that isn't something I have felt since Condemned. The scenery is the game really is stunning. My only problem is, like Condemned, I feel the enemies you encounter look very bland. It's a minor complaint I guess since I was still blown away by the game.

I like the bundl Amazon has:
-Elite
-HD-DVD player
-300 HD-DVD

$599.99

Not the best deal, but not bad.

Yeah, Bioshock was taking forever to download....22% after 45 minutes. I let the low power mode go over night.

Sure enough, a double game bundle is coming : Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Those are very good games. Not sure if MUA is the Gold edition or not.

What do you guys suggest for wireless network adapters? I use a Linksys wireless gaming adapter I got 5 or more years ago for my PS2, works ok it seems. Need something for my brother, wired won't work. MS's wireless network adapter seems a bit pricey (~$90). Thanks.
