Thought I'd update since I saw this thread ...
My dad got his second replacement system through Microsoft and ... it would continuously hang on the splash screen or the intro of any game if he made it that far. He had to talk to a "supervisor" because it was his third system going back, then they sent him another "new" one ... without a power cord (after they told him to return his). Now he's sitting with a new box and no cord (which was supposed to be delivered in 3 days 7 days ago).
So ... he's gotten a month-and-a-half of play, and two months of continuous mailing with his 360. Right now, I think he's pretty fed up with quality control at the big M.
But hey ... according to the CSRs ... at least he's gotten 3 free 1 month cards to Live! Of course ... as he explains to them ... it doesn't do him a lot of good because he lives in the middle of the country and only has access to dial-up ....

Here I thought I would be one of the lucky ones. No such luck. After 16 months without problems I get the RROD last night playing GTA4
Did the online request for repair so now I wait for a box.
It better not rain this weekend or I will be doubly pissed off.

Well... my launch 360 which had no issues whatsoever finally bit the dust I got the video display issues. Weird colors, then just a black screen with white dots. There goes $99 bucks....

You could always try to force a RRoD and then when you submit it document the video issues as a precursor to the RR. That might get it fixed under warranty.
I love my 360, i have the extended warranty, but i think it is absolute garbage they are trying to just cover the RR but ignore other problems.

Yeah, i tried to force the red ring but had no such luck. I actually did tell the lady i got the RROD but she was like "RROD is different from the original problem you called us about and what you're repair is for". Whatever. I guess i'd be more upset but I'm not going to lie, my 360 has gotten quite a lot of use since launch day. Frankly, i'm just surprised it didn't give up on life sooner

Wow, is this thread dead, or has everyone been lucky with their 360 lately? Anyways, after a whole 7 months, my 360 elite bit the dust last night. It keeps freezing and getting the yellow and white checkerboard screen. Has anyone else had this problem? I filed a repair order online last night and it looks like the death box is shipping out today. Hopefully it will be a fast turn around.

It's just a grating title that doesn't need to be bumped. People usually put their "shit, system died" comments in the main 360 thread.
