Retronauts can be good depending on the subject. Since they have an office full of avid gamers, it seems like the show should be a revolving panel instead of trying to keep the same people on whenever they record. They do this sometimes, like with the awesome Starcraft episode, but I would like to see more of it.

I know Shane has his faults, but I really like him on these episodes since he does seem to know his shit.

Just finished the new 1upyours and I wanted to punch my ipod by the end of it.
Garnett was fucking annoying throughout the entire 2 hours. He is supposed to be hosting it and instead he just keeps derailing it and acting like a 6 year old.

It may be time to shake up that podcast.

I thought the show was pretty good this week.

Garnett was a bit overbearing, and I did hate that he was interrupting all the other members, but I have to say that I enjoyed him calling Shane a "Sony Cocksucker". :lol:

The other highlight was Shane being asked if Super Mario Galaxy was on his short list for Game of the Year...to which he replied "it's a list of one". I was shocked considering it's a non-Sony game, and I think the room was as well.

I agree with you chess. I honestly thought this was probably the best podcast since Luke left. Definitely the best lineup, IMO. I really liked Jane and Simon. I wish they were regulars. You also posted the two highlights for me, "Sony Cocksucker" and "it's a list of one." Both moments were awesome.

I also find it even funnier two weeks after blasting Major Nelson (for not making games, "why have him on?") we're going to have N'Gai Croal on. :lol: This is also after having Stephen Totillo on a few weeks back, neither of which make games. He must have some beef with the Maj.

Are you sure you're not a week behind darkside? Garnett was fine until the news section.

I haven't listened to this weeks show yet, but I like how we've turned into a 1up yours support group of sorts. So random.

I liked this weeks 1up. They should have the chick on more.

Maybe I was overly sensitive to it after last week, but it seemed like Garnett was jumping in and talking over people a lot and acting like a baby.

I enjoyed the podcast overall and it was nice for them to have Jane back, but man i was tired of Garnett by the end of it.

Speaking of sick of. EGM Live was great. Donahoe is well known for going overboard about a game and his rant about Fire Pro Wrestling was pretty funny. He doesn't want to just tell you about it he wants to torture you with the informaiton. He had a similar meltdown over Hotel Dusk. He gave it a 10 and couldn't believe some people only gave it 9s. :lol: Classic 1UP Show.

That's because all the others are pretty consistent but with the revolving seats on 1up every week, it's a crapshoot.

Game Theory: A much more highbrow show with an emphasis on how games are made and what makes them good
Team Fremont: The drunken gamers...just seem like a fun bunch of guys...one of my favorites
IGN: I like almost all of the IGN podcasts, but none of them are among my favorites and Matt's a tool
Joystiq: Just OK
GAMERadio: These guys click for me...just two guys talking games.
HotSpot: Somewhere between IGN and 1up
Gamers With Jobs: Usually very good...sometimes they seem disinterested though
Wiire: Nerds! No real insider info and not terribly entertaining, but I listen because I'm a Nintendo whore :shrug:
CAG: Seems to be more about Cheapie D than it is about games...I like the guy, but it's wearing thin

Jane was a fantastic edition to the show, and I wish she and the other Brit guy could be on each week, along with Shane and John. I really liked the dynamic between the hosts in this episode.

And then there was Garnett. He's pretty much now only differing levels of awful now, but he was exceptionally bad this episode, so why didn't it bother me? Because John, Jane, Brit Guy #2, and Shane made fun of him on the show whenever I was feeling the exact same way in my head - so that was awesome. I loved when Brit Guy Number 2 went "Can we be forwards compatible and move to the next news story?". Also, I even felt bad for Shane when Garnett kept talking over him, but then the crew called Garnett on that too. Honestly, he shouldn't be allowed to drink on the show or try to be funny - neither ever work. 1up should have a new podcast called busting Garnett's balls. I would subscribe immediately.

I agree with Corvin though, this was the best show in a long while, even with Garnett being Garnett.

It was the equivalent of a clip show, but if the tone is at all indicative of the normal show, big thumbs up.

darkside i felt exactly as you did. this is making me kinda sad, because this was my favorite podcast when it was luke, john, shane and retardo. garnett was un-fucking-bearable this week. i thought it couldn't be worse than last week, but it was. really a shame cause i really enjoyed jane and simon. i like you wanted to smash my ipod the last 30 minutes. i don't know if he is getting drunk during the course of the show, but it comes off as if he is trying to impress the female guest. acts like a 12 year old. he is just creepy. i really got the feeling john and simon wanted to tell him to shut the hell up and fire him on the spot. i am going to give this a few more weeks, but they have got to get him under control. he is ruining what is otherwise a very enjoyable podcast....

Just started listening to 1Up and you guys are spot on with Garnett. The guy is a real pain in the ass. He reminds me of people I went to high school and college with who tried to be funny and fit in with the crowd. Just painful to listen to.

Does Simon appear on the show very often?

I believe that was his first one.

1up hasn't been the same after the Luke departure. Mark Mcdonald was a nice sub until he left. I've been getting my share of Luke Smith on the Bungie.net podcast which he hosts.

Simon and Jane were awesome this week. They should put them on the show full-time and fire Garnett. John, Shane, Simon and Jane would be a great show to listen to every week. :)

Normally Garnett doesn't bother me as much as he apparently bothers other people. But the show i listened to this week (i guess the 11/9 show) he was just killing me. It was the first time i super-wished he would just be quiet and go away. His obnoxious declarations that it was "his" podcast now made me almost want to quit listening because "he" sucks on "his" podcast. Everyone was else was great.

He might have been on a long time ago. I think they mentioned Shane spilling tea all over him and I think that was on this podcast, but maybe before it was even called 1UP Yours.

I just listened to the Major Nelson show with Marc Whitten inadvertently and I have to say that I'm surprised. Even with two guys under the employ of the big MS, they were fairly candid when addressing the Wii and PS3 and I really respect that. I'm definitely going to check a few more of his shows out now, this time on purpose.

Major Nelson does a good podcast and he is a big fan of the DS.

No, they keep claiming that it will be more frequent (on each show), now that Halo 3 is out, but it's still maybe once a month if we're lucky. :(
