Well that would make the game more enjoyable. After playing so many FPS games with rumble and then playing one a light controller with no rumble took away from some of the experience.

The power button is quite sensitive... also, a touch of the PS button on the controller can also turn on the console. If you don't want that (i.e. the sensitive button), try to use the manual on/off switch on the back of the PS3. Many times, the PS3 is on b/c my kids throw something on the controller and hence hit the PS button.

I guess it is really sensitive. One time I was just sitting on the couch and the unit turned on. Nobody was near it. It has not done it for a couple of days but it was just weird to see it turn on by itself.

Not having tactile feedback in shooter or racing games can make things harder. It's preferable if one is instantly aware of when their character is taking damage and in that sense, rumble is very useful. I hope to have my Dad pick up a DS3 as soon as they're available in Japan (he goes there all the freakin time; might as well get something out of it). You don't think there will be any problem using a Japanese DS3 in a US PS3, do you? I hit him up like 8 years ago for one of the first dual analog controllers for the PS1 (pre-rumble actually). That worked fine.

It's been said that the patches to provide rumble in older games (like Resistance) may be held back till the US release of the DS3. But apart from that it should function normally as a controller.

I have the same problem. I leave my PS3 on overnight and a single demo may still not be done by morning. We're talking 8 hours for a Gig download. It's a joke. The same size d/l on the 360 takes 15-20 minutes, tops. The Wii is generally speedy as well, but hard to tell how big the downloads are.

For the record my router is two feet from the PS3. It is wireless, maybe I should break out a cable for it.

Wow, that's nuts. That would aggravate the hell out of me. Most downloads take 5-10 minutes for me. The longest took 20.

I've learned to just wait a day. The downloads are usually fast on Friday.

Its definitely Sony's Network and not the wireless. I tried running a cable and downloads were still super slow on Thursdays.

I haven't even attempted a Thursday d/l, my shitty speeds are an everyday occurrence. Very frustrating.

I'm going to give R&C a try tonight though.

Mine downloaded in a reasonable amount of time (I was gone a couple of hrs and it was done by the time I got back). 1.6 GB demo -- DAMN!

What I want to know is : Why do I have to wait for the downloaded demo to install? I never have to do that with the 360, why do I have to wait another ten minutes or so for the game to be playable on the ps3?

Question: I'm selling all my PS2 stuff, and have component cables. Looking at eBay, I can't get much for them. Does the PS3 come with component cables? Does it use the same connection?

I'll probably be getting a PS3 in the next year or so, so if I can use them for it, I'll hold onto them.

Thanks.

The PS3 does not come with them but it's the same connection, keep them.

Download only ended up taking a couple hours. Pretty good game, I enjoyed it. It's not necessarily something I'd pick up if it was avail on 360 but because its for PS3 I feel more inclined. That shows how desperate I am to play some good PS3 games.

I forgot to check mine before I left for work this morning. Needless to say it was finished by the time I went home for lunch around noon.

It is awesome. I've only made it to the fifth level, but I'm saving up points to buy extra lives and make it farther.

As for the Ratchet & Clank demo, I liked it more than I expected to, but there's really nothing new there. It's the same gameplay as the PS2 games, just with very pretty next-gen visuals. I'm not a huge R&C fan, so I'll be renting this one rather than buying it.

Is there not a demo of every PSN game, or just select ones like Pixel Junk Racers? I really want to try Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust HD, but don't want to just blind buy.

Agreed!! Super Stardust is REALLY fun (especially if you like twin stick shooters). Plays very different from Geometry Wars. I actually like it more than GW.
