I'm frustrated with how slow the PSN downloads are. It is taking hours to download Tony Hawk. Tried using a cable, but it is just as slow as Wi-Fi.
BTW, tried the pixeljunk demo as was not impressed. Not seeing even a $6.99 value here.

So it seems my controller will work if I use it to start up the system and it's not connected by USB. If I use the remote to start up the system, or have the controller connected by USB, it won't work on the system menu. Just plain weird.

Are you playing a PS2 game? Every time I quit a PS2 game to go back to the menu the controller shuts off and I have to turn it back on. Sounds stupid, I know, but worth pointing out.

It took me about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to dl FIFA, and NHL is at 99% right now, and I started around 7 CST.

I was wanting to dl Tony Hawk too, but at this rate it looks like it will be after midnight before it would get done.

It usually takes about 30 minutes to dl a demo.

My controller is fine, but I constantly get some sort of Network Error when I try to stream music. It's driving me nuts. I can get the pictures (more or less), but can never even pull a list of music. The 360 has absolutely no problems streaming music so I don't understand why the 360 would. Any thoughts?

I finally gave up and turned my console off. I stared TH at 5pm and at 10:00pm it was only at 57%. Fucking ludicrous. This is with a cable since I figured the problem was Wi-fi related and turned it off. I have no issues with PC downloads or any of my other wireless devices.

If Sony's network is this bad with very few PS3 owners I can only imagine how bad it would be if it had all the users of XBL.

No, it started when I was trying to play some downloaded games, and happened earlier when I was playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma.

I'm having some networking problems. I have a Linksys router. I always get NAT type 3 which prohobits voice chat. It doesn't matter if I connect wired or wirelesly. Anyone have any ideas?

It took me all night to d/l Heavenly Sword and Gran Turismo and about an hour for Lemmings... an hour... for Lemmings. So 2.5-3GB worth of stuff probably took 6 hours. That same amount of data on the 360 marketplace? 30-40 minutes. Both systems are right next to the router. 360 is wired, PS3 is wireless. It shouldn't be that big of a gap.

FW updates also take forever. Slow as molasses would be putting it nicely. I'd love to see 30 minute speeds.

Yeah, NHL 08 was going REALLY slow. I already have the demo on my 360, but since it is 20GB vs 60Gb, I would try it on the PS3 also. Anyone try it yet? How does it compare to the 360 version? Are we going to have a 30fps vs 60fps issue with NHL 08?

From all the reviews and podcasts the EA game blows away the other NHL game.

NHL2K8 suffers from some unnecessarily difficult controls, but they can be remapped and adjusted. As I mentioned in the hockey thread, a friend of mine that bought 2K8 likens the controls to basic fighting game button combos. Take from that what you will. I have yet to play it, though I decided to get NHL08 just so we could try out both games.

I wouldn't dismiss 2K8 though. It's still a good game and the franchise mode is wicked deep. Plus, everyone says it looks great on the PS3 whereas 08 suffers from the fps crap from EA again.

I haven't had any problems downloading demos they all take about 25-30 minutes. What I can't stand is taking another 15 minutes to install them? WTF??

I had no issues the next day and finished downloading all of them in an hour or so. Guess they were slammed on Thursday, but really there aren't enough PS3 owners out there to really bring down the PSN store.

There has been some issue with the latest update. My download of the new firmware keeps getting stuck at 4%, which has never happened before. Many others appear to have the problem as well. If they don't fix it soon, I'll just install it with a flash drive...

that happened to me too. i think i just turned it off, and tried again later, and it worked fine. My d/l'ing of demos and stuff on Thursday was also VERY slow, I stopped them all, and tried again on Friday, and it was fine... worth it though. Some great demos this week...

Is there a reason to update immediately? I haven't messed with it yet.

*edit - just tried and my hangs on 4% for a minute before giving me an error message as well.

This is a common problem with this update for some odd reason. Just keep trying. It took me nine times yesterday before I got the download to work.

Quick question... I turned on my PS3 today and the menu background color went from black (yesterday and since I've owned it last month) to a pinkish/reddish color. Any idea why? All videos/games/etc play find, no other issues or anything.

Edit: I read on some forums it turns color thorughout the day.... I must be only using it at night!

Couldn't get mine to update yesterday via the PS3 - hangs at 4%. I tried downloading the update file from my computer. It says the file is 116 MB, but it only downloads about 10 MB of it. Hope they fix this, I wants me some demos!

Mine got stuck on 4% the first time I tried to install 1.93 too. Tried it again and it worked fine. I had trouble getting online last night though. Something about a DNS error.

So I finally unboxed my PS3 last night as I set up the entertainment center. Moved the PC out from the bedroom (where the only HDTV was previous) to the living room to be with the game systems. Bought a 4-port USB switch box to share the keyboard between the PC, 360, Wii, and now PS3.

WTF no rear USB ports, Sony? Christ, it's like they just try to be different between stuff like this and only using Bluetooth for remotes, etc. What an annoyance. I'm certainly not going to run a permanent USB cable around to the front of the thing (sits on top of the entertainment center, left of display). Guess I'll just have to move the keyboard from switch to PS3 manually should the need ever arise to use it on the PS3.

Just a random bitching. I suppose I could have checked a manual, but I was just surprised by it. Oh well, at least I can plug an HDMI and optical cable in simultaneously

Oh, do we have a folding team here? I didn't see anything, so I joined the CAG team; but if we have one here, I'd rather do that.
