That is pretty cool. The faceplate looks good.
The lanyard also made me think of this odd request. Any idea where i could get some video game lanyards? I a teacher and for a few years we have had to wear ID badges at our waist or clipped to our shirt. Next year they are supposedly going to require we wear them around our neck on a damn lanyard and i absolutely hate the things. So if i'm being forced to wear then i want to hunt me down some sweet video game ones to use.
Any ideas?

I agree with the previous posters who were complaining about faceplates being designed for the vertical. It is really lame since the bloody unit seemingly doesn't function as well in that position. Every time i see faceplates designed for the vertical it makes me less gruntled and more disgruntled.

My wife bought my a faceplate as a gift some time ago and since it only looked vertical I took it back. She hasn't gotten over it to this day. Other than the Wii I have never put a console on it's side. I can't see having a pricey system teetering on it's side and risking messing up the system and/or games.

1,500 to 2,500 broken Xbox 360 consoles per day in the UK alone??
I don't know how reliable this story is, but if it is true then
I don't know how reliable this story is, but if it is true then
Microsoft’s UK repair centre in Havant is now redistributing faulty consoles to foreign repair centres in order to clear an overwhelming backlog and keep up with the 1,500 to 2,500 Xbox 360s arriving at its doors on a daily basis, according to customer reports.
According to Lee Sherman (Gamertag, Toxic Daywalker), who sent us details of his horrible experience, his Xbox 360 had been sent to Prague for repair, which has extended the repair time considerably.
He talks of how three weeks and repeated phone calls yielded no further clues to the status of his repair, with customer service representatives merely telling him that it would be “returned shortly”.
Lee even claims that when he asked to speak to the repair centre direct, he was told this wasn’t possible because they don’t have phones... However, using a directory enquiry service he was able to obtain the number for the repair centre, where he was shocked to learn that his console was actually in Prague, not Havant as Microsoft customer service reps had claimed.
Additionally, the call to the Havant repair centre revealed some other worrying stats: “A shocking statistic we found out though is that between 1,500 to 2,500 consoles get sent to Havant by three UPS lorries per day, to then be shipped to Prague for repair,” Lee told us, going on to add, “[We] phoned up Nora the [customer service] supervisor again, who then admitted my console was in Prague and hadn’t been looked at yet – she seemed amazed that we knew!”
Comments from users on the Xbox.com forum reveal similar woes, and some have also discovered their consoles are indeed in repair centres outside of the UK: “I just spoke to the customer support people because my 360 has been gone since the 8th of June,” says forum user, LordBrown in a post dated 23rd of June. “Apparently because of the backlog in Havant they’re sending 360s to repair centres outside the UK! And that because of this Microsoft are legally allowed an additional ten days to get your 360 back to you.”
From the sounds of things it seems Microsoft is fighting a losing battle on this front, as more and more units flood in for repair. It kind of reminds of that bit in Santa Claus The Movie when all of those defective wooden toys started falling apart…
We contacted Microsoft this morning, however we’re still waiting for an official response. We’ll let you know the moment we hear anything.

So, I just got Three Red Lights for the third time in a little over a year. Thank God for the Best Buy replacement plan. If I didn't already have games for it and the HD-DVD drive, I would think about just getting my money back and purchasing a PS3.
Sigh, I've never even had a console die on me once before, and this is going back to the NES years. Yet here I've had problems out the ass with my 360. Fuckin' Microsoft.

Now my 360 gives me dirty disk errors all the time but otherwise it works, whenever I get around to calling them about the drive problems I'm having I'll get it fixed. I've grown to expect my consoles to die.

That said, why did Nintendo and Sony seemingly fix whatever hardware problems there were, while M$ hasn't been able to? Cheap? Much more complex hardware?...?

I've never had a console die before MS entered the market. I've had all launch systems too. NES, SNES, N64, GCN, Wii. Also had an Atari 400 & a Dreamcast with no issues.
I've had the original Xbox die on me once and my 360 die on me twice. MS is almost at a 50% failure rate of the total number of other consoles I've owned

I've had a PS1, PS2, Saturn, Xbox and now Xbox 360. The only problems I have had is my original Xbox never worked right out of the box. My second one still works fine 3 years later. I've had to send my 360 in once so far. I haven't had a good track record with Microsoft products.

Unlike windows however, I love the 360 design and function. Say what you want about how shitty the QC is, I love the product and its online features. Its the best console out there right now. It takes a bit of yoga to say "I HATE HATE HATE HOW BAD THEY BUILT IT I HATE EVERYTHING WITH THE LETTERS M AND S IN THEM" but to still embrace how its the best way to play games.
