i thought the analog was perfect for Pac Man CE.
I even have the DoA4 arcade stick, and was looking for an excuse to bust it out for that genuine arcade feel.
It's totally superfluous IMO

here definitely needs to be a good arcade stick for the system.. with Street Fighter HD coming in particular.
They are also making a Wii Arcade stick.
Hori also makes a controller that looks like the old Atari controllers. That would be good for something like Pac Man but I don't know what else.

yea, you can only get them on ebay
i wasn't saying the control stick isn't good mind you. hori seriously makes bad ass arcade sticks and I swear by them. i was purely saying I haven't run into problems with the analog stick while playing that game, so to me, it wouldn't be necessary.
I lucked out and found one at and EB, new, for 39.99 some time back. I might sell it on ebay before the eventual soul caliber 4 ones come out

I've been going back and forth about it[1] but I think I finally decided to get the 360 Elite. I've noticed Amazon has it available but Best Buy doesn't. Does anyone know if Best Buy will eventually get them in or is it better just to order it from Amazon? Is the Elite covered by the 3 year warranty thing, and more importantly is the "track record" on the Elite better than the first version? Finally I know the Live Silver is included but is there wireless capability built in or does that require another module?
[1] I was originally trying to wait to see if they came out w/ a version that had the HD drive built in, but I haven't heard anything like that

I don't believe they will ever have the HD drive built in.
The Elite should have the same 3 year warrenty as they are still building them with the same method.
Live Silver will allow you to download some things and have one night a week, I believe, where you get to experience what Live Gold is like. You will need Live Gold at $49.99 per year if you want to do any online multiplayer.
There is no wireless networking built in to the 360. You can buy an optional adapter, or use it wired as it has a built in ethernet port.
The controller you will get is wireless and uses 2 AA batteries. For $19.99, you can get a play and charge kit that has a rechargable pack that you use in place. When the battery is low, you connect it to the 360 and the controller and it acts like a wired controller. Once it is charged, you can remove the cable and use the controller wireless again.

) so there's not much of an appeal for Gold.I don't suppose anyone knows whether or not Best Buy ever plans on carrying these? I mean Amazon is easy enough to get stuff from but Best Buy has that $10 for every $100 deal going on right now

That BB deal doesn't apply to hardware, though. I'd recommend getting the system at CC (if you can) to get a free year of live, then buy the games you want at BB for the $10/$100 deal.

Unfortunately the Elite doesn't have wireless. You can get a wireless bridge though, or the 360 wireless adapter (which I could never get to work), or a $5 cable (I pushed mine under the carpet).
I haven't seen an Elite anywhere but Gamestop/EB. When I bought mine no one else had them.

Ok, well I think I'm going to bite the bullet tonight... kinda.
I'm going to go to CC and get myself the premium w/ free year of live. Then I'm just going to hang on to it in the hopes it'll drop in price within the next few weeks as per that Destructoid rumor. If it does, I'll either get a price adjustment and get $450 worth of stuff for $300 or I'll return it.
I've waited this long for a 360, I can wait for the right price. But I'd feel stupid passing up an extra deal on the free live.
I'd still like to wait for the 65nm version, but the new warranty does make that sort of moot so I can live with the heat and greater(?) risk of RROD.
Or I'll just give in again and open it early. Who knows? I'm fickle.

nemein, is there a reason you're after the Elite? It's kind of a useless upgrade unless you must have the black finish or absolutely need HDMI. I'd definitely suggest just getting the premium. There's no reason for the extra 100GB and the HDMI is basically cable convenience.

I posted that before I saw your post. I'll be looking into that. I wish there was one without artwork on it, but I'm more interested in having an arcade stick so it's a minor quibble. Are they wireless, per chance? Oh man, that'd rule.
I also wish they had some with no artwork, that way they wouldn't go out of print real fast. Oh well, I plan on getting Virtual Fighter anyway.
The Wii one has no artwork and looks really good. I don't think it is wireless either, but will still work with Guilty Gear and Smash Bros.

Why is the HDMI unnecessary? I remember seeing pictures of videos using both and the HDMI looked a little better. I can't really tell much difference in games.
The hard drive is worth it if you plan do download a lot of TV shows that won't expire. I got some Space Ghost that haven't made it to DVD, also shows like The State are on there (who knows when it will appear on DVD). The extra hard drive space I could see me using down the road, so thats why I went with the Elite.

Well most of my other components are black so it would be nice to keep that (but I take it the face plate is swappable anyway right, I haven't checked to see if there is a black one for the premium). In part I did like the HDMI interface, I'm also not sure if I'll be able to tell the difference between the two but since I have it I might as well use it
Having the larger HD also seems like it gives you more flexibility in the future, but mainly I was hoping that given the Elite came out later that hopefully it wouldn't have some of the same problems as the premium (or is there really no difference between the two)?
