Quick question about Mario Strikers (and I didn't want to hijack the tourney thread)...
Is the online play bound to the disc or to the machine? I'm thinking about buying it but am currently in Atlanta and would play it on a friend's machine, but will be returning to New York soon. Should I just wait, or what? From all the reviews and comments on here, it's sounding like a really fun game.

I believe that it is tied to specific Mii's. For example 2 people on 1 Wii could have different stats... so, as long as you take the Mii and perhaps the save game file with you (copied to SD card or to the controller memory) then it shouldn't be a problem.

Don't forget that the Wii plays GameCube games too... The NAMCO MUSEUM can be found for $10 or less (used) and has 10 classic games, including Galaga.

I purchased Punch-Out on VC, even though I already have it on my Animal Crossing GC game, for the same reasons!

I don't know how common this is, but I was in Fry's Atlanta earlier today (first time ever to the store, thought it was great) and these two parents were in there asking the employee about the Wii and if the Wii could play Gamecube games. Employee said, "No."
I decided to stop looking at the games, pipe up, and correct the employee's answer. Talked to the parents for around twenty minutes about the pros and cons of the Wii and all the other current systems. They said they were sold. Five minutes later they found me elsewhere in the store to ask more questions. Bought one for their two kids who were there as well. The father pointed me out and told his children I was the reason they were getting a Wii. Hopefully they see me as a hero and not their most hated foe.
Apparently, though, if anyone is looking for one, the Fry's in Atlanta has Wiis in stock. They are bundles for $499 or around there. The employee made a joke that I should get her commission. I really wish I had because that would have paid for Mario Strikers Charged which I was looking to buy.

My wife has decided we need to get a Wii for Christmas this year (assuming we can find one this Autumn) and i was curious about a couple games. I'll ask about more of the games closer to the time but I'm really curious about the Cooking Mama game. We both like mini-games and enjoyed the DS version. I also really enjoy cooking in general so the theme is appealing to me.
How is the game? Worth a purchase?

Anyway, a lady was asking an employee about the difference between the widescreen and fullscreen versions. The employee told her that for the widescreen version they "cut off" the top and bottom of the frame to put the black bars in! I wanted to smack him upside the head, but she was probably the type that wouldn't care about OAR anyway, so I let it go.

I already own more Virtual Console games (52) than Gamecube (50). Add the 10 physical Wii Games and I've got 62. Plus the 50 Gamecube backward compatible games and I've got a grand total of 112 Wii playable games. Yeah Wii!!!

Yeah I'm late to the Gamecube game. I always kinda wanted one but I never got around to it. So now I can pick some cheap games to play on the Wii.

VC Update for 8/13:
Even though I have it unlocked on Prime, I think I'll have to get Metroid again. For the convenience and not having Super Metroid next week being all lonely.
Shining in the Darkness too someday.
Metroid® (NES®, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points): The first installment of the immensely successful Metroid series introduces us to the hideous title creatures and the slick, cybernetic bounty hunter Samus Aran. As Samus, your mission is to penetrate the space pirates' home planet, Zebes, and keep them from destroying the galaxy with the dangerous life forms known as Metroids. Metroid has all the high-tech weaponry, creepy tunnels and crawly alien creatures that anyone could ask for. With its deep and complex game play, excellent music and a rare sense of setting, it establishes a frightening ambience that will haunt and entertain you for a very long time.
Shining in the Darkness™ (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): Dark Sol has vowed to reign over the enchanted Kingdom of Thornwood, and only you can stop him. Find the powerful Arms of Light and battle the deadly beasts that keep your people desperate and starving in this epic journey for peace. Roaming the dark Labyrinth, you'll seek out enemies and collect weapons, all of which will help you pass the test of the Ancients and become a shining knight. Get into the adventure with a stunning 3-D perspective, amazing cinematic views and fast-paced scrolling. You'll move from battle to battle, solving puzzles and discovering secret items in this engrossing struggle between good and evil.
Cratermaze™ (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Comic Mischief, 600 Wii Points): Cratermaze is a comical action game set in a parallel world. While on a trip through time, you and your friends are confronted by Kublai, henchman to the evil Zenzombie. He traps your friends at separate points in the space-time continuum. Now you must fight your way through 60 rounds of mazes to save your friends. Dinosaurs, ninjas, robots and other enemies lurk within the mazes, spanning from primitive times to the future. Escape the enemies by digging holes to trap them in and then filling the holes to finish them off. Collect all the chests within the time limit to get the key and exit to the next round. With special items such as shovels and spring platforms, Cratermaze takes its game play to new heights, making for an unforgettable gaming experience.

Shining in the Darkness has a special place with me. That was my first Dungeon crawler and probably still my favorite one.
I already beat Metroid on Prime after unlocking it so that one is a skip. Bring on next week and Super Metroid.

I'm currently playing through Metroid Prime for the Cube. I bought this years ago and never made it very far. For whatever reason I couldn't get into it. This time through I'm having a great time. Can't wait to try out the Wii controls on part 3.
