Why not have a universal friends list?

I wished nintendo cared about the children as much as microsoft does.

So I found a used Wavebird at Gamestop and I'm now picking up cheap old Gamecube games. Sometimes it's like playing on a Playstation 1 but it's not too bad.
Question: What it the correct way to end a Gamecube session on the Wii? I can't get back to the Wii menu from the GC game, when I eject the disk I get a message asking me to re-insert the GC Disc, and the Manual says nothing about this issue. Best I can tell is I have to eject the GC disc, then hit "reset" on the Wii to get back to the Wii menu. Does that sound right?

Reset is the only way to exit GC mode. I'm not sure if ejecting the disc is necessary, it should still reset into the Wii's menu. It sucks, but it's 100% BC so a small price to pay considering.

Some brilliant games for Gamecube:
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
Zelda: Wind Waker
Mario Sunshine
Eternal Darkness (looks almost PS1, but is just remarkable)
Beyond Good and Evil
Mario Strikers/Golf/Baseball
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Rogue Squadron II
Luigi's Mansion
Would have said Resident Evil 4, but the Wii version is amazing and is worth the extra $...same for Zelda: Twilight Princess.
And some good multiplatform stuff that you might have missed:
Prince of Persia 1-3 (2 is just OK, but is part of the story so...)
Soul Calibur 2
Lord of the Rings series (good hack and slash)

Anyway, so far I've picked up: Metroid Prime, Teen Titans (DC Fanboy here), and Resident Evil Zero. I wasn't sure about RE Zero but it was only $7 So I figured why not. Since I've neer finished any of the RE games I may buy RE 1, 2, and 3 so I can try to do so on the Wii. I have RE 4 Wii version. Then I'll get 5 on the 360. I was always jealous of the Star Wars games on the GC so I may check those out too.
To be honest I never liked the GC controller and the button layout so I'm still gettting use to playing the GC games. I mean on Metroid I kept trying to use the right control stick to look up and down in conjunction with the left stick but apparently you have to hold down a button to look up and down.

When you go into Gamecube games, the Wii becomes a Gamecube...quite literally. So yeah, you have to hit reset...but you shouldn't have to eject the disk.

The Gamecube is more powerful than the PS2.

The guy is used to HD gaming, and I think he is just emphasizing that fact. We all know that the GC doesn't look that bad.

We do? Who's "We"?
just kidding. Look, I never said it was "bad"; just a dramatically different experience for me. Hell, some of the PS1 games didn't look all that bad. The other day I bought Metroid Prime based on a few things, one of them being my memory of how good it looked when I saw it being played when it came out a few years back. As you point out, this probably has a lot to do with 15 months of HD gaming then going back a generation to play old games but I stand by my comments and I think the comparison is reasonable. I realize I'm in "Nintendo Country" here in this thread so I'll "drink the Kool Aid".
But I'm only sipping it and spitting out every other mouthful.

Nintendo's WiiWare Paves the Way for Fresh Games, Cool Consumer Experiences
Jun 27, 2007
Nintendo Sets a New Paradigm: One Game Can Still Make a Difference
SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 27, 2007 - The search for the next ingeniously ground-breaking video game has begun. At a private developers conference this week, Nintendo announced the introduction of WiiWare, a game-creation service that will allow developers large and small to create new downloadable video game content for sale by Nintendo through the Wii Shop Channel of the hot Wii home video game system. WiiWare paves the way for smaller, more creative games to make their way to the public at lower prices, without any inventory risk to developers. The first WiiWare content will launch in early 2008.
"Independent developers armed with small budgets and big ideas will be able to get their original games into the marketplace to see if we can find the next smash hit," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "WiiWare brings new levels of creativity and value to the ever-growing population of Wii owners."
The possibilities for WiiWare are limited only by the imaginations of developers. WiiWare provides game creators a simple method by which they can get their games to the public. This approach, combined with the remarkable motion controls of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, will give birth to fresh takes on established genres, as well as original ideas that currently exist only in developers’ minds. The reduced barriers to development provide developers the freedom to create and an inexpensive, clearly defined path to reach consumers who will ultimately determine which game will become the Next Big Thing.
WiiWare will be posted on the Wii Shop Channel. As with current Wii Shop Channel offerings, users will redeem Wii Points to download content. It will support a variety of pricing options. Details about that and upcoming projects will be announced at a later date. For more information about Wii, visit Wii.com.

Don't know what to say. I stand by my comment and you and others can think what you want as far as me "taking a shot" but for what it's worth that was not my intention.

I bought the Wii and and GC games and I'm trying to enjoy this experience. I can make a comment about something I spent my money on just like you guys can disagree with my comment. Either way the graphics are obviously something I'm learning to deal with by focusing on other aspects of the system.
Note to self: It's ok to have my own opinion.

No worries...I wasn't really offput by the comment...just confused, as I thought some of the top tier GC games were the best looking games of last generation...and miles beyond anything on PS1...games like Wind Waker, RE4, Mario Sunshine and Rogue Squadron.
Anyway, I think you'll enjoy the system and I hope you enjoy catching up on some great GC games.
No kool-aid here...just appreciate innovation and think Nintendo is doing pretty much everything right these days...Looking forward to a PS3 at a $299 price point as it appears to be a multimedia powerhouse...and looking forward to a 360 that I can trust not to die on me.

It was like when people were saying Twilight Princess looked liked Ocarina of Time. Complete BS. I think people forget really how bad 1st Gen 3D graphics looked.
