Mercury Meltdown - slated for May and delayed until late Aug.
Manhunt 2 - slated for July but obviously its fate hasn't been determined.

I believe Dark Samus is the one in the top corner. I don't think there is any dark world in MP3. The darker/reflection Samus is just Samus being "corrupted" from whatever happens during the game.

Sega has Alien Syndrome coming on July 31 -- the graphics look pretty mediocore, but maybe the gameplay will make up for it.

But I agree, why turn a $10 game into a $50 game? This could have been perfect for the new original content channel on the Wii.

Little soon to judge the merits of the game. I agree in principle that it doesn't seem like an $80 game for the complete Wii & DS experience. But we already know the both versions are functionally the same so you can easily get away with the $30 DS and be done with it. Or the $50 Wii version and get the best of both worlds (with the downloadable Retro Evolved).
There's also a chance that the Wii version will come in as a budget title. I mean, something's eventually going to be, right? Right?
Can't wait to watch that 10-minute preview up there, but I'm still checking out the Contra 4 one.

Well, it sounds like the DS version is definitely a must-buy. Hopefully the Wii comes around and they support the classic controller or wavebird. I'm fine with dropping $80 on those games. If they come in at less than that, even better.

Great game so far! The more I play it, the more I wish that I got it for the Wii instead of the 360. I bet the controls are way better/more fun.

DVD Talk Godfather
Finally gave the 360 a rest last night and turned on the Wii, which means I finally started Actraiser. I loved this game back in the day and surprisingly it is still just as fun. The soundtrack is as great as I remember it as well.
I know people mentioned it being short, but damn a couple hours in and I'm already half done.
Oh well, it's great and I'm loving it. That's all that matters.

VC update for 7/2:
Debating on SMB2 even though I have it for GBA. Dragon Spirit looked alright, any reviews? Pixy?
Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES®, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Join Mario™, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad in an incredible fantasy world on a quest to save the day. This time, they have little more than vegetables to defend themselves with. Pick up items and throw them at your adversaries to clear levels in seven massive worlds. Even enemies can be picked up and tossed across the screen. Each character has a unique set of abilities: Luigi can jump higher and farther than any of the other characters, Toad can dig extremely fast and pull items out of the ground quicker than anyone and the princess is the only one who can jump and hover temporarily. This unique installment in the Mario series will keep you coming back for more.
Ecco: The Tides of Time (Sega Genesis, 1 player, rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points): In this sequel to Ecco the Dolphin, everyone's favorite underwater hero must battle the Vortex Queen and her hive of drones. The wicked queen followed Ecco back to Earth from the future and quickly established her hive. It's up to Ecco to defeat this alien threat by navigating the depths of his side-scrolling world, solving puzzles and receiving help from his marine-mammal friends. When Ecco used the time machine to save his pod, he split the stream of time in two. He must now restore the rift before the world is permanently changed into a mechanical world, sucked dry by the Vortex.
DRAGON SPIRIT (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): A fantastic world of adventure unfolds in this vertical-scrolling shooter. Sealed away by the gods long ago, the Evil Demon of Darkness, Zawell, seeks to rise again and unleash a new reign of evil. The brave warrior Amur races to rescue Princess Alicia from the demon's wretched clutches. Amur takes the form of the legendary Blue Dragon and fights his way through the legions of monsters that await in the sky. Battle your way through eight different areas, using your Dragon Breath to bring down airborne targets and Fireballs to wipe out targets on the ground. Destroy flashing enemies and smash Eggs to uncover different kinds of power-up items. Boost your firepower by increasing the number of heads your dragon has, and defeat all the bosses as you make your way to Zawell's dark lair.

Dragon Spirit is pretty good.. but considering the amount of shooters already out on the TG16 virtual console, it's hard to recommend it over something like Blazing Lazers. I can't remember if the TG16 version was a straight port or had some extras added to it (I know the NES version had extras).
Fucking W. I considered coming to work an hour early today but took the extra sleep instead.
