Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
Why am having trouble loading games? Trying to get Eternal Darkness to start at current save is a bitch. Needs like 3 disc popouts, 3 resets for it to be recognized. Is it just age or machine? It’s surprisingly in great shape. Still in its silver, which I think when I got was limited or something, glory. But, hard to load discs. Maybe try all? I think Twilight Princess loaded first time. The disc? No scratches or anything. Won’t recognize and spin without work...

I’m not investing. This is hooked up, mostly working. It’s not end of world, but no need for another system. And I couldn’t buy used...

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
Could be certain discs. Eternal Darkness tough, but Metroid Prime Echoes boots up just fine every time. Always wanted to play, even though had. I loved first MP. Hulk was fine too. Who knows. No biggie. It still had my save. Really got to get used to controls. Echoes was tough and a little disorienting at first, still kinda. But looks good and I love everything Metroid. Since first NES...

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
Nope. Still little trouble with Echoes, not as bad as ED, but couple tries. It’s so pristine and clean. I surprisingly kept in a box in very good condition. Just not recognizing on first try...

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
yeah having trouble with most discs. can get most to work after 2 tries, but ED is fubar which is what i want to play most. But, never played Metroid Prime Echoes after loving the first and that looked really good for an older game on a way out dated console. the controls on ED were so clunky from the onset...

I bought a used GameCube a couple of years back but it took me a while to buy the cables and whatnot. Finally got it going a few months ago and then I realized I still had my Wii so I switched them out. Mostly because my Wii is hacked and I can just play GameCube games on it

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
I just rehooked this up via HDMI converter. Unhooked from 2 years ago. Works great. Can’t wait to play some Two Towers, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Finally play MP: Echoes. Finish Twilight Princess.
So many I loved on this little machine that could. I don’t know how it survived all these years and look and play so well. But looks great and as said works great.
I was nervous bc Wavebird wasn’t connecting with system, then I realized it was on different channel than adapter plug. Phew.

Anyone know if the 16:9 option just stretches the image? Should I play on 4:3 for best results?

Mine doesn’t read discs… I found a YouTube video to fix it, just need to find the time and the courage.

What’s it like 20 years ago this came out?

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
There's no real yes or no answer. Something like a third of Gamecube games have a native widescreen mode, though, although if I remember correctly it's mostly third-party ones.

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
Thanks GV. I set it to 16:9 ar, so far they all look pretty decent for 20 year old games. Psyched that I got this up and running again.

I actually played some Mario Party 4 with friends a few weeks ago. We booted up and the image looked like ass when I remembered you have to hold down B to enable progressive scam. Then it booted up and everyone was blown away. It was the first time they'd seen my HDMI adapter in action.
Might have to boot up some Metroid with all the new buzz.

I should try out Metroid Prime again. I never really got too far in that one, even though I loved all the 2D Metroid games.

Shit the component cables are $200?? Why on earth?? TVs don’t even have those inputs anymore, do they? I still have the OEM composite cables.
And why is the console and games so expensive? And nothing new. All refurbished.
I checked Amazon out of curiosity and saw these exorbitant prices for all that I have. Even Wavebird is ridiculous. Is it cause it’s rare?

Re: Anyone still use their Gamecube?
I love that I have the opportunity to replay or play for first time, these games. Playing The Two Towers brought back some fond memories. Didn’t realize it’s a total button masher, not that it’s bad, but does hurt a bit on wrists. Can’t wait to relive Prince of Persia: Sands of Time since apparently the remaster or whatever is just not coming out. Love that game. Can play them all. Eternal Darkness was amazing. Discovered RE4 on it, but I’ll play the Xbox remake. Graphics aren’t too bad either.
