Well I spent about 45mins playing this morning and once again it reminded of why I never finished the series.
Between the notoriously shitty movement, limited range of vision due to the "new" camera angle from behind, and getting use to my new Wii controls...it was not fun.
I'm hoping I'll get better with patience. I swear, between CAPCOM and the guys who make TENCHU I think there's a serious need for some "how to make characters move" classes.I'm starting to think I should stick with my original plan and only play Cute Japanese games and console games on the Wii and get the "heavy hitters" on 360.

Give it a chance Robo. Maybe it just isn't your cup of tea anymore but I (along with many others) think it is totally awesome with the Wii controls. The first segment of the game (Village) I find is a little boring, and kinda hard for so early in the game. After a while though it really starts to suck you in, and when you get good with the Wii controls you'll be kicking everythings ass.
I played through it once on Gamecube and am almost finished beating it on Wii. I hardly ever play through a game more than once. I think I'm enjoying it more this time than my first time, and am already looking forward to unlocking some of the special weapons and playing through it again (New Game+).

Yeah I'm not going to give up.
Also, why are Headshots so weak? I'm guessing since aiming is "easier" they reduced the damage done right? I mean 1-4 direct shots to the head and a Villager keeps coming?

I swear, between CAPCOM and the guys who make TENCHU I think there's a serious need for some "how to make characters move" classes. The ironic thing is that the movement and camera are MUCH improved over previous games, but they still are not that great overall. I really don't know why Capcom has such a problem with making good movement and camera schemes in RE because their DMC series really has no problem with it. Control in DMC has always been pretty fluid.
As for headshots, they are not weak at all. Headshots have never been 1 shot = 1 kill in any Resident Evil game (unless you use the magnum of course). Headshots do 1.5 times normal damage, so basically 2 headshots does the same damage as 3 body shots. Not a huge difference, but it can save a little ammo. The best thing about headshots (and also kneeshots) is that they temporarily stun the enemy. While the enemy is in its stun animation, you can run up and kick/suplex them.
I assume what jediwicz means when he says that headshots are weak is

As somebody that gave up on the GC version in the village, I'm enjoying the Wii version. The controls are much improved, although I had to invert the analog aiming (I usually don't do that, but for some reason the combination of using the analog stick and the Wiimote to aim was throwing my brain off until changing the invert option). Getting a headshot off, kicking the zombie, and then slashing him on the ground is pretty easy now. Reloading is intuitive. The red crosshair and rumble whenever you aim at something that can be shot is a nice touch.
Hopefully STARS and the US govt might train their operatives how to strafe or move while shooting someday.

Robo, make sure you practice the quick turnaround. You hold the Z trigger and press down on the stick. It spins you 180 almost instantly. It is a crucial move, especially since there is no strafing, and you move like a slug with a morphine drip.
I do think the sluggish controls are a cheap way to heighten the "scare" factor, but despite that I enjoyed the game. I would never say I enjoyed how slow he moves, but you begin to get accustomed to it.

Question:
I'm sloooowly making my way through RE4 but I wanted to know if RE 4 dings you for typewriter saves and using health sprays? figure if I ever finish this game I'll get a crap final score/grade and won't get some of the unlockable game content, but i don't care because I want to finally finish an RE game.
I think I may do this thanks to the Wii making the controls somewhat easier to use....

I don't even think it has alternate endings. You do get a little screen that shows how many times you died, how many enemys you killed etc, but it doesn't have any bearing on anything as far as I can tell.

RE4 has been taking quite a lot of my game time as of late. I just love the way it controls! I ended up playing through professional mode to get the ridiculously overpowered PRL 412, then through Ada's two modes (the battleship level of Separate Ways was so much fun!) to get the Chicago Typewriter (which, IMO, is the most fun weapon in the game). I really don't know that I'll ever get the handcannon, though. I played a bit of Mercenaries and it just wasn't holding my attention. If I could use the Chicago Typewriter in it, I'd certainly play it more
.
Also, the easiest way to get 1,000,000 platas (pestas?) in one run through is to not upgrade your weapons much if at all. When I went through on professional, I was determined to have the million as soon as I finished to be able to buy the CT, and I managed to do it by only upgrading the TMP and the capacity levels of weapons when I had run out of ammo (a handy trick is to leave the weapon empty, then upgrade the capacity. When you do that, it fills the ammo up as well. Also, use the knife as much as possible.). It made the last fight really difficult as I had zero life left in the little life bar and only about 24 TMP round remaining, but when I started a new game, by selling off my explosives, unnecessary weapons, and leftover treasure, I had the million needed for the CT. Woo!

Ok, cool. I always thought dinging your score because you saved or used sprays was chickenshit in previous RE games.

I haven't played RE4 in a while, so my mind isn't too fresh on it, but I don't believe that it gives you a score at the end of the game. It just tells you your total play time, number of enemies killed, and your hit to miss ratio, but no score.

I need to dive back into this game. It's been messing with my OCD "gotta catch 'em all" playstyle, though. I'm used to finishing games with maxed-out ammo for every weapon. I'm not accustomed to being forced to switch weapons after running out of ammo.
