Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

First time I got there, I saved and went straight to fight one of those huge guys walking around. The fight started, he stomped the ground, and my whole party died. That was pretty funny.

I did the same thing. I told my wife "he only has 100k hp" or something like that, and she says "that's just one leg."

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

Chapter 11 Beginning question

Spoiler:

so I'm in chapter 11 and reached the great plains. How much do I need or should I grind here? I don't mind messing around for a bit as I don't want the remainder of the story missions to be super hard. Should I at least max out the main roles for all my guys? (that level I'm at currently is expensive, obviously). Just not sure what to do here and don't want to sink a ton of time in grinding if I don't necessarily have to.

thanks!

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

I'm at the same point you are and I just completed the 14th mark hunt. The role levels are still not close to being maxed now that they cost 6-10K each. The guide says to move on after the first 2-3 just because you'd be wasting your time trying to level grind there when it'll happen on its own from playing the story. You'll be able to go back later on.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

i was at the end of the game. went back to do the missions. fuck that. they take waaaaaaay too long because they are never close. i'm just going to beat the game and be done. pretty much the only flaw in this game, imho.

Did you open up any of the warp points? I haven't done many of them yet but I have 4 warp points open which makes things a little easier. But yeah, when they're on opposite ends of the large, open area it can be a pain running back and forth.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

I just really want to fight the massive giant that is walking around, he is sort of grey and orange, and bigger than the mountains. Unfortunately I need to level up my characters a lot first, as I have to kill one of the massive tortoise things to get to him and I'm sure he would kill me in a second anyway.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

Did anyone upgrade items at all? I'm still at chapter 7 and I haven't upgraded them at all. In fact I've barely upgraded my weapons because I'm worried I'm going to waste something or do it wrong. Which items if any should I wait and upgrade? Plus gil seems so rare.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

I wouldn't bother upgrading any accessories yet. I did and it's a waste that early. You'll find better versions of the same items. A leveled up silver bangle is not as good as a level 1 tungsten bangle. Once you have the best of the type of accessory you're equipping, then I'd take the time to upgrade them.

For the weapons, I'd look at the guide or a faq to see which weapon you want to end up with for each character and start upgrading when you get it. I spent probably 30K buying components so I could get Lightning's weapon to its 2nd form. About 10 minutes later I found a better weapon in a chest.

When you transform a weapon, does it lose its previous level?

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

It went down but not to 1. The weapon I had was maxed at 26 and, iirc, dropped to 19 after I transformed it.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

I'm only on Chapter 9, and found a good place to grind a bit since the soldiers were dropping Inventive Chips that I could sell for a lot of money.

I've only been really upgrading weapons, since those seem to have a bigger payoff then the Accessories. Boosting +50 HP or so didn't seem like a big deal to me.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

Yeah I wish I stuck around that area to grind for credit/incentive chips. I racked up about 80k worth, but I did it in such a short amount of time, I should've done more.

I found a little different area, where if I ran around a corner the enemy would respawn and I could run back and kill them. Similar concept though.

I feel proud that I was doing it on my own and didn't even see it mentioned on a guide or online

Spoiler:
I don't know how you get him, but i suspect it's after you complete all the missions that are in the circle on the map. they seem to be the last ones you can do.

Any non-spoiler specifics you can give? A multi-tiered clue would be awesome like this:

Spoiler:
In Chapter 9:
Spoiler:
There are soldiers that drop credit and incentive chips that you can sell to make a lot of Gil.

Re: FFXIII Thread of chocobo ranching

Ack! I am stuck at Taejin's Tower...

I have just plowed through the game...didn't read anything about grinding and such until just now that I was looking online for help. Basically I
Spoiler:
beat the Gelitan mission but can't beat the 2nd one
and everything in this area is killing me because, I gather, my party is low. Is there a way to get back to the field and do some of those grinding tricks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gO_xA...layer_embedded

or am I hosed?

FINALLY!!!

I'm 17 hours -- midway through Chapter 7 (I know; I play slow) -- and finally

Hope confronted Snow. Maybe now he'll stop moping and whining.
