I don;t think I'm that far in Hard yet.

I'm in the set with Freya. That is the last song in that set I need to beat to unlock the encore and then the next set. I just can't get past Freya on Hard.

I still have my three "bane of my existence" songs in Medium to 5*

When you get to it on hard, you'll appreciate what everyone is talking about. I think on hard, this hits you with a trifecta of challenges that weren't encountered up to that point (faster notes, lots of HOPOs, and incorporating the orange button).

HOPO= Hammer On, Pull Off.

Again run through the tutorial as it covers all that stuff.

Ah, I know what a hammer on pull off is, I just never called it a HOPO

Speaking of which, it doesn't work for me. I'll have the green fret pressed, I strum, then I leave the green fret pressed and press the red fret then the yellow and NOTHING, it shows I never strummed for red and yellow. Sigh

You can't do this for every note. Only on the ones that don't have the black ring around it. So, you strum on the black-ringed notes and then just hit the frets for the rest until you get to another black-ringed note.

Oooooohhhh thanks see that wasn't in the tutorial

I HAD noticed some notes looked different (without an edge) but didn't know why.

One of the Red Octane (I think) execs said they were having a real hard time getting some bands like AC/DC, Zeppelin and Metallica to get onboard, but that they were working really hard to try to get them. Probably for GH3, but you never know.

Older bands that hold out on allowing their songs to be used in Guitar Hero are missing out financially.

Although it's a sad thing, the game would probably expose a good number of teens to bands they normally wouldn't have heard before. If just a fraction of those kids went out and picked up one of their cd's I would imagine that it would generate some nice royalty checks.

Well, I finally beat expert career mode the other night. Institutionalized gave me the most trouble. The other songs I passed after only a few times. Only got 3 stars on any of them, but I passed them, and that's good enough for now. Now I've got about 10 songs left on hard to 5 star, so I'm going back to do that.

Today has been a good day for me. I kind of hit a brick wall with my playing, thinking I can't really get much better. I've added 30k+ to quite a few of my high scores and I'm nailing some solos I never though possible. Anyone else have hit a brick wall for a few weeks and then progress rapidly one day? I have this same thing happen to me with actual instrument playing as well. It's like one day I wake up and my brain says "hey, you can do this now, enjoy!"

I just had my bit of progressing earlier today, actually.

I finally 5-starred Psychobilly Freakout on Expert.

Funny thing is, I was all ready to hunker down and try it 5 times in a row to get the 5*, and I did it on the first attempt.

One thing I've always noticed about the GH games is that you're more likely to play better if you're in a good mood, or otherwise not distracted. They take so much concentration that if I'm not 100% focused, I end up just completely sucking.

Wonder what the odds of that ever actually being released are. Good ol Dragonforce.

So I got this game on a whim through a CAG free game deal and I am hopelessly addicted! Help! Is there a ROCK GOD in all of us waiting to burst out in a fury of sweat and beer?

I believe that little blurb was referring to the upcoming Rock Band game, and not GH3. . .

I finally snagged a spot alone at the demo machine in Best Buy to try it out and felt like an idiot when I was mashing away at the colored buttons to Sweet Child Of Mine to no avail and a Blue Shirt came over and told me I had to move the strumming(?) button at the same time. Once I learned that I was hooked.
