Same here. Bully has been fun and has been whetting my appetite for GTA4. I think i am on chapter 3 of Bully right now.

So, 360 or PS3?

None of our family care much about gamer score but online matters, especially to my sons. So the Xbox has a more robust community and the downloadable content going for it. The PS3 offers me personally the chance to play more, and it would add a quality game to that library.

So I guess the question is will the multiplayer be that big of a deal on this game? If not, the PS3 version it will be.

360 for me, as the DLC is of a lot of interest to me.

How would that work? Since the PS3 isn't getting the downloadable content (which could be as robust as additional locations throughout Liberty City), I don't see how that gives you the chance to play more.

And I hope your family and the sons you mention are over 16...

Sorry for not being more clear. My point was that for a couple of reasons the PS3 is both easier and more desirable for me to play, everything else being equal. Not the least of these reasons is that my sons are 360 multiplayer hogs, so their constant playing of R6LV and COD4 limits my access to that system. Therefore I try to get multi-platform games where the online content isn't that big of a deal, such as Assassins Creed, on the PS3. I was hoping GTA would be similar.

My hopes are fading.

Yeah Msoft paid a chunk of change to get exclusive DLC. That alone would be reason to get it on the 360 versus the PS3 imo.

I bit the bullet and paid off the entire pre-order of GTA IV for PS3 today at Gamestop. I even picked up a Dual Shock 3 to go with it. I have played a lot of "sandbox" games, but have never owned or spent alot of time with a game in the Grand Theft Auto series. I hope I'm not disappointed! Midnight release here I come...

The jury's still out on the quality and the cost (in Live Marketplace points) for the two downloadable chapters that are exclusive to the 360. For someone like me who has yet to complete any installment in the GTA franchise, having the exclusive chapters aren't a selling point, and thus unnecessary. I could probably benefit from other DLC (such as new weapons and vehicles), which would be available on the PS3 through the PlayStation Store. Rockstar hasn't disclosed what other DLC would be available for the PS3 and 360, and it's very well possible that additional chapters and map extensions are added somewhere down the line (I'm sure they will find a way to nickel-and-dime us to death with this installment ).

With everything I have read about the multiplayer aspect so far, buying this for the 360 to play on Live is a no-brainer. The future DLC is just a bonus.

Yeah, the PAL versions went gold and shipped sooner than the NTSC ones - and street-dates are not adhered to too well in, say, Poland.

Cannot wait! I know the date is solid but games never come out on Tuesdays so I really hope the release date is firm for Target/Best Buy/Circuit City.

Here's a good article on things in GTA IV that might initially seem like disappointments but aren't necessarily. It's a good "expectation calibration" piece.

The intro video most certainly looks real. It's a shame that he couldn't video any longer! I almost screamed when the video cut out.

Interesting stuff there. I really hope that in this game the storyline is good enough to make me want to keep playing it. What I mean is, that in sandbox games I usually end up avoiding the main storyline as much as I can until there's nothing left to do.

The small scale city doesn't bother me too much. More interactivity is a very good thing. Plus we're getting Vice City and San Andreas later on in the year anyway.

So it Looks like Microsoft has finally announced what it's Exclusive DLC deal w/ Rockstar really means, according to Microsoft each episode of DLC content will be equal to the games San Andreas and Vice City for Ps2/Xbox. They have also stated that Digital Downloads will be the new way to deliver the GTA "Expansions."

So it looks like with this new announcement if you were planning on playing the Vice City/San Andreas versions of GTA IV the 360 is the Definitive version to get, with the first expansion arriving as early as Fall this year and the next one to follow-up in 2009.

GTAIV DLC

* When MS says exclusive, they mean that no other system can have DLC content for GTAIV

* It will be bigger than a lot of people think. GTA3 Vice City and San Andreas were basically expansions of GTA3. Think of the DLC that way. We are talking major expansion for GTAIV

* No price has been discussed yet. It’s up to Rockstar on whether or not they will charge for it

* If successful, DLC may be the new way to deliver GTA expansions

I read this meaning that San Andreas and Vice City will be the exclusive content though that's not necessarily what that implies.

Hm, I don't read it that way at all. I read it that the DLC for GTA4 will be similar in "jump" when comparing Vice City/San Andreas to GTA3. Meaning the DLC will add as much to the formula of GTA4 as Vice City or San Andreas did to GTA3.

I read it the same way. In which case, I want to believe, but remain skeptical. That's promising an awful lot. I'd believe an expansion more along the lines of what Vice City Stories was to Vice City before I'd believe what practically is a whole new game.

i agree. i definitely read this as the amount of content will be equal to vice city/san andreas, not that we are getting those actual games....

I figured it meant in scale/length terms of VC and SA.
