Halo music never really stuck out at me to leave a lasting impression. At least, not as much as flying around as a little naked angel, shooting demons with my arrows

Game Informer has done a hands-on preview of the Wii version of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Sto...1625.37484.htm
The control set up sounds good. The d-pad is mapped for the standard attacks with Z used for block and C to change stances. Special moves and fatalities are gesture-based in conjunction with holding the B button. Here's a quote about one of the fatality moves:
"My personal favorite is tearing off an opponents head by pushing the Nunchuk forward, and pulling the Wiimote backward, simulating the action of twisting a head off."
I can't wait to get this.

It can "be played with either the GameCube controller or a Wii Classic Controller"

It feels so strange to me now that I am actually interested in playing a new Mortal Kombat game, I probably wouldn't buy it strictly because of my kids. I could always buy it and hide it, but, that's not a great solution either.

A first look at Mercury Meltdown on IGN. I've been keeping my eye on this one and at an SRP of $29.99 it sounds like a winner.
Anyone else mildly interested in it? Play it on the PS2 or PSP and have some thoughts? The wii version adds tilt(understandably) but also adds 30 new levels, is 480p and anamorphic.
Now if only if the people behind Kororinpa understood the value of their game wasn't $40. I probably would have picked that one up at $30 as well.

Anyway, it's been getting pretty good reviews. Most say that the controls work well in the game.

I absolutely loved it for the 360, and I think I'm going to love it just as much for Wii. I got it yesterday and played for about a half hour, and immediately thought it was going to be a lot of fun. I like how the controls work for fighting, but haven't done any shooting or driving yet.
I don't much like the camera control, though. I understand why it's like that, but it seems awkward. I think it will take some getting used to, as I always seem to be with my back at the foes.
All in all, it seemed fun for the 30 minutes I played it last night. And with new cut scenes, missions, people, and a different way to upgrade your character, I think it will be another cool game.

awesome, thats exactly what I wanted to know
my fiance MADE me get this game for the xbox, and she played it for about 15 hours or so. I figured if it were decent enough, she would be all over this title.

I know they mentioned more consoles heading into the pipeline recently - anyone see any evidence of this? My local Target hasn't gotten them in a few weeks now.

See, I think I made Don of NYC by about 50 hours of playing, and i was running all over NYC just having fun in the process. I really was in no kind of hurry whatsoever.
They changed the way that you upgrade your guy, so that now you can kinda choose the kind of gangster you want to be a little more. I'm not sure what the ramifications of this really are tho, because as the game progresses, it seems harder and harder to get the upgrade points. I'm a little afraid that if you're not careful at the beginning in what you choose, there won't be enough upgrade points at the end to be able to upgrade to everything.
It also seems like you do a little more than just having one guy with you(I think now you can get a hit squad of a few guys.
I unfortunately cannot play more until Saturday, so for now, this is all i can really say. The cool thing is that having played on the xbox, I will have a better understanding of how the game works so I'm not spending so much time running from the law, or getting killed by rival gangs when all I had to do was bribe a cop...

good point
its been FOREVER since I played the original xbox version, but I loved the game, and its one of the few games I felt compelled to beat, and make it all the to being Don.
theres just something about hanging a guy out a window, throwing through the window, then running outside and throwing him back into his shop. I figured if it were the same game, even, with intuitive controls, I would love the game once again

**edited to add that I had the 360 version, but played the xbox version, and I liked the 360 version more than the xbox version...

I keep checking itrackr.com, and there haven't been any in my area in quite a while. I also check wiitracker.com, but every site that gets some in stock requires you to buy ridiculously large bundles, which I refuse to do.

The Target near me claims to get a few about twice a week. They sell out in minutes. The only day they really had a lot was when they advertised them in their Sunday ad, which was a few weeks back. A few upcoming factors will keep the Wii harder to find: Easter and the release of Super Paper Mario. Not that the Wii is ever easy to find, at least for me.

I still have not found a Wii in the store since I purchased mine on release day. Weren't Xbox 360's easy to find by this time last year? They really are selling well. I really wonder how this generation will play out. Either way it will be very interesting.
