So, let me get this straight. I have a cable modem and a router in my bedroom to get a wireless connection for my laptop. If my 360 is in my living room, will I be able to access XBOX live with the adapter? No other connections/set-up necessary?

Word!! but some considerations may need to be taken with port forwarding and that sort of thing in order to maximize your xbl experience. Also you'll probably want to stream music or something that's an extra step in the process but is painless overall.

and you're good to go (actually, you have to type in your WEP key the first time you set it up, but other than that, no problem).
The bad news -- it has a list price of $100.

No, you can order it from buy.com for 79.99. If it's your first time creating a google acct you get a extra $10 off, so the cost drops to $69.99.

Of course, abrg's tip about the original XBOX adapter is even better.

Might want to try ebay, a few months ago I purchased the 360 Live adapter for around $55 shipped.
The Linksys WGA11B wireless adapter seems to work well also and it can be had for less than $20 or so.

Microsoft rewrites Gamerscore rules
Publisher gives the OK to add 250 achievement points through downloadable content, 50 points to arcade titles.
By Tim Surette, GameSpot
Posted Feb 2, 2007 12:35 pm PT
Several Xbox 360 gamers have found themselves going to extraordinary lengths to unlock in-game achievements--goals created by developers that award Gamerscore points. Following rumors that Microsoft would be rewarding achievements with real-world prizes, the company's marketing team has confirmed new rules for achievement points on its Gamerscore blog.
The maximum number of achievement points a game can award has been raised to 1,250 from 1,000 for full retail releases. The extra 250 points can be included in downloadable content that becomes available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Xbox Live Arcade titles, which were previously capped at 200 points, can now add an extra 50 points through downloadable content.
Games can also now ship with less than 1,000 points, but must offer more points through free downloadable content that brings the total to 1,000. The cost of downloadable content which adds points beyond the original 1,000 is up to the discretion of the publisher.
Gamerscore blog points out the upcoming sandbox game from Realtime Worlds, Crackdown, as an example of this. The game will initially ship with a maximum of 900 achievement points, and will later offer free downloadable content to fill out the remaining 100 points.
The blog acknowledges that in the past there have been some inconsistencies with the 1,000-point rule (Condemned: Criminal Origins still only yields a maximum of 970 points), but says that going forward all games will adhere to the 1,000-point rule.

Is anyone else thrilled that the demos lately have been much smaller files sizes? GR:AW2 and Home Court were both much smaller files than I expected. GR:AW2 was still a nice looking demo and one that didn't take forever to download. Crackdown was still a huge download but considering the scale of the city it is certainly forgivable and understandable.

My speeds are ok but I always seem to try and downloads during peak gaming times and it just takes forever. Of course the download speeds on the 360 are still far better than those on the PS3. I hate downloading anything on that system because even the smallest things take freaking forever.

I can go either way but smaller demos that DL faster can't hurt. I tend to DL during overnight and early morning hours so it's not a big deal.

If anyone else got their new issue of XBOX Magazine, the one with the Guitar Hero 2 cover, I'd like to know if you had problems getting the disc to play. I had to open and close the tray about 9 nine before it booted up right. A few times it would display Mixed Media Disc on the dashboard, it stated I needed to put the disc in a 360 twice and once told me to clean the disc. This isn't the first issue I have had some problems with.

I figured I was screwed with this demo disc because almost all of the demos were arcade games and every single time you would exit one of the games it would kick you back to the dash. Amazingly enough as soon as it recognized the disc as a game the first time I had no issues with the disc again. The discs that come with the magazine are fun but as I said before this is the 3rd time in a few months that the disc has given me problems. None of my other games give me any problems.

Guess what I did at work today?

I've included everyone on the DVDTalk Gamertag list, the ones with a valid gamertag anyway. I also deleted the 30 or 40 people without any gamerscore, which I'm assuming means you haven't picked up a 360 yet. If you have a 360 and seem to be deleted, let me know and I'll re-add you. There is space for 17 more users.
These custom leaderboard have been around for a while, but it's still fun stuff. You can see the most popular games for the week as well as immediately seeing which DVD talk users are playing the same games as you. For instance, 40 DVDTalk players have played Lost Planet. This may be a little easier than searching the Gamertag list for folks with the same games.
- VGT folks have racked up over a million gamerscore and over 40 thousand achievements, Yowsa!
- While the vast majority of the DVDtalkers are located in the States, we have 9 Canadians, 2 UK blokes, and 1 person from Japan.
- The most played game is Hexic HD with 207 players, next is GoW at 199, then Uno at 168, Call of Duty 2 at 161, and so on.
- Most Common Zone: Recreation with 176 players, then Pro with 29 players, Underground with 22 players, and finally Family with 6 players.

Awesome! Nice work. Top 15 baby!
That is quite a few tags with the 24 logo.
Someone should put it in the first post of this thread and the Gamertag thread.
