There is no 2 player splitscreen and only 10 tracks. I bought it anyways though, since I loved the demo and don't really need the split screen. The 10 tracks isn't really much of a drawback since each track has so many shortcuts and you have to take different racing lines with each type of vehicle. The graphics and the mud "physics" are awesome in the game as well. If you already have a PS3, you really do need to try the demo. It will give you a small glimpse of what the game is like. |
Was at a Best Buy on 3/6 and saw Motorstorm on the shelf (I think a day early), bought it and have really been enjoying it. Played the hell out of the Demo and it's very refreshing to get new tracks/vehicles. Online is very fun as well racing against 11 others. Sweet!! Saw a guy on eBay (don't know if he has been mentioned in this thread before) who "gets" the discs (and sometimes blu-ray movies) from the factory and sells them. Has Motorstorm for $48 shipped. I just bought Godfather for $48 shipped yesterday (over a week before street date). Just the disc only, no case, booklet or cover art. Not sure how legit it is, but has great feedback. I went for it since I'm tired of paying nearly $65/game after tax.

So, it's Thursday...isn't there supposed to be new stuff in the Playstation Store today?
Also, what is this whole PS Home thing? I've been blocked from reading at work. |
Really enjoying MotorStorm so far. The courses are well-designed, and a lot of the challenge is figuring out the best routes through each course for each vehicle type. Online mode was pretty cool, though I noticed a lot of people dropping out of the game in the middle of the race. Not sure if it was technical issues or if people were just being dicks and quitting if they were near the back of the pack. I can understand the critiques that I've read about the game, but the core gameplay is a blast and involves more strategy than just "slam on the gas and boost whenever possible." Time will tell if it has lasting appeal, but at this point, I'm very satisfied with it.

Also, what is this whole PS Home thing? I've been blocked from reading at work. As for PS Home, here's the text from Joystiq's post: Sony has validated the "blackball rumor" with the unveiling of PlayStation Home -- a free to download, virtual world for the PlayStation 3. While earlier murmurings mentioned customizable avatars and achievements, our brief demonstration revealed that to be just the tip of the iceberg. Comparable to Second Life, PlayStation Home is a virtual community of PS3 owners living together in both public and private environments. Users will be able to login, chat with both text and speech and play casual games together such as pool, bowling and even embedded arcade machines. And when the old stand-bys grow stale, users can invite one another into other PlayStation Network titles outside of PlayStation Home. Every user will have their own virtual apartment to decorate with furniture, their trophies from various games (see: achievements) and content from their own PS3s. For example, Phil Harrison took a snapshot of us in the crowd, slapped it onto a USB stick and right into a picture frame in his virtual flat. Not content at just images, users will also be allowed to share both music and videos with friends inside their private homes, which will most likely lead to some sort of underground pornography syndicate on the PlayStation Network. Check out video footage of PlayStation Home after the jump! And while the download itself is free, users can choose to accentuate their looks with additional clothing for an unspecified fee. The PlayStation Home will also feature dynamic advertising -- the details of which are not currently known. A large scale beta for the service begins this April with the final product to see release this Fall. Link: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/07/pl...playstation-3/ |
Both Gamespot and IGN are reporting that Warhawk is now an online multiplayer only game. That's right, no single player mode at all. What a load of bullshit.

I played a lot of Def Jam: Icon today, and I'd recommend it for a rental. The storyline is excellent, and so is the create-a-player. But, the gameplay is mediocre.

I'm not very disappointed about Warhawk being online only if it delivers. I would like some kind of single person training to hone my skills before I get my ass handed to me online, but if it's as good as I think it's going to be, online should be great.

1up said they dumped everything but the multiplayer as that was the only salvagable part of a troubled production. I think its multiplayer only unless something has changed.
|
Latest news is that it's download only and multiplayer only.

It disappoints me because I am not into online gaming at all. I loved the original Warhawk on the PS1. I planned to get this game whenever I get a PS3, but now I am definitely not getting it. Lair will have to serve my flight combat kicks now. |

I came across this guy's auctions as well. I prefer to have a complete package, however, in case I decided to sell/trade the game down the road. |

Even with the news, all the videos still look promising. I am a bit worried though considering.

Check out this video of a level creation demo from Little Big Planet. Very cool stuff!
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...pe=mov&pl=game Also Phil Harrison confirmed in an interview they would include the best user created levels from the demo in the retail version. |
Is there a good summary of the GDC keynote somewhere? I don't have the patience to watch the whole thing.

Is anybody else just really content with their PS3? I got mine this week to make sure I had a Blu-ray player for Casino Royale. I've never owned a Playstation before (always have been and still am a Nintendo fan), but man, this thing is just slick. I bought Corpse Bride on Blu-ray and its absolutely stunning! I love that you can download demos and HD trailers and such. I'm happy with the DVD playback, and there's word that it will upscale after a future update. Add to that the fact that it supports the one SACD I ever purchased (Dark Side of the Moon)...and all the inputs I could ever want. I bought Resistance today and will probably start that baby up tomorrow. Plus, Motorstorm is just beautiful. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't listen to all the negative press about the PS3. It's a great machine, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it...

Welcome to the club. Glad you're enjoying it and didn't buy into all the negative hype. I'm up to about 12 BR movies now. I'm trying to not double dip anything I already had on DVD, so it's hard. I'm definitely trying to find a good deal on Casino Royale. I'm really enjoying Motorstorm as well. Sure, it's a little shallow, but it's awfully fun. |
It still seems strange to me that the most beloved feature of the new Playstation is it's ability to play movies.

However, I am very impressed with the job Sony has done. I love the potential for the online and the fact it is free. I'm not someone that uses online gaming enough to ever pay for it. Flow was a blast to play and there are several games coming this year I will want. Blu-ray movies and SACDs are the features I will probably use the most though. |
Been playing Godfather: Don's Edition pretty much all weekend and have been loving it. I haven't owned any other Godfather game for any other console so I can't really compare. All I know is that this game rocks. I'm a big Godfather fan and also a big fan of the Grand Theft Auto game and this game ranks right up there with any GTA game and might even surpass it given my love of the Godfather movie. The graphics are pretty good (pretty sure it's playing at 1080i on my tv) and the voices/dialogue is awesome. Also has an online component which I haven't gotten into yet but should add some fun once I finish the main story (only about 20% in so far). This should hold me over until GTA IV comes out (unless that is delayed...)
