Last I checked it was.

I don't think the Wii's serial number is on the box, but it is on the under/right side (vertical/horizontal). Just fire up the Wii browser and put it in while you're right next to the thing.

AGREE 100%!!! Imagine Homer Simpson gotta do the serial# registration....

Wario is okay, mini games are fun in some ways, but i don't wanna pay $50 for it... Okay, i take it back, Wario counts :) Just that Wario came late in the Nintendo realm, some of the old school gangs don't recognize Wario as a Nintendo icon.

Cooking mama is a must, i'm gonna get it for the kids, definitely... hopefully they can cook after playing it?

I got a Wii last night. ;) I had $300 sitting in my checking account from a refund check I got from UNLV and since my co-worker called me telling me he had one with my name on it I said why the hell not. :)

Granted, I still have a MacBook to pay off, but why not be in debt even more?

Good for you dude! Same thinking here (but i don't owe credit card company money), i slack off whenever i can, just like what soldiers were told do, sleep whenever you can :) So enjoy life whenever you can as long as it doesn't get you or someone else in trouble :)

I got curious and looked. The Serial number is indeed on the bottom of the box. Its a sticker in the bottom right hand corner.

I could have sworn I looked at the box when I registered my Wii.

Meh. I don't count it because of the price and the lack of unlockables (i.e. you can't earn flowers for getting high scores on each microgame and unlock something for getting one on every game).

So it's basically a step down from the GBA and DS games as far as singleplayer goes (doubt I'd ever play it multiplayer) and costs $50 in stead of $30.

No thanks, I'll pass. When it hits $20 I"ll pick it up.

Josh H 01-25-07 02:45 PM

The serial number may also be on your receipt. It's on my Gamestop receipt anyway.

This is my hold up right now. There are several titles I want like Wario Ware, Trauma Center and Metal Slug, but none of them I want to pay more than $20 for.
I still may finally bite the bullet and buy one. My tax return is going to be decent and the $50 trade in at EB is pretty tempting (granted I will probably have to wait awhile to actually get a Wii). The best part is I know several people with systems so I can probably just borrow games instead of buying them.

Michael Corvin 01-25-07 03:21 PM

Yeah, I'm waiting for a price drop on Elebits, Wario & Trauma Center myself.

KurrptSenate 01-25-07 03:24 PM

I've actually had the option to buy Wiis on 3 separate occasions, at the same store. I only bought one, though

Josh H 01-25-07 03:25 PM

Yeah, it sucks. I think I'm done with buying consoles at launch. I'm too much of a cheap ass and end up with nothing to play for months due to the launch window games being crappy and all the games being full price.

Portables are ok to buy at launch since good portable games rarely drop in price and if they do it takes much longer.

KurrptSenate 01-25-07 03:28 PM

I have all three of those games...

yea, you can wait

RUMOR - Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles info

Man, it seems really hard to get some official info on this title. All we ever hear is rumor, and then it ends up being confirmed a few weeks later. Well, here’s another set of rumors concerning the game, let’s see what happens with these!

- The Bio Hazard series on Wii is NOT a side story game, it is a main stream series game
- Story is straight after Code Veronica (so Code Veronica -> BH Wii -> BH4 -> BH5)
- 3 main characters
- Jill is confirmed, 2 others still not confirmed
- Rumour is that Wesker is the other unconfirmed character
- Game system follows BH4

I really hope these come true, sounds like a good setup to me!

I bought Monkey Ball today, and noticed that it has a bit of underscan so it doesn't fill my entire 16:9 screen. Does anyone else have this issue?

 Thanks.

Well I set up my Wii and I was surprised at how easy it was to set up the wireless connection (sorry to the others that had so many problems).

One question I have, it downloaded 2 updates in the beginning and they took about 10 minutes total, do I have a slow connection or were they large files. Did everyone's first 2 downloads take that long?

Thanx Chris

pinata242 01-25-07 09:09 PM

That sounds about right. Go download an NES game, see if it takes mere seconds ;)

jediwicz 01-25-07 09:13 PM

There should be another update Saturday morning for the AP News Chanel. Hope it doesn't take up much memory though.

Was excited about this when I first bought my Wii, but once the Internet Channel became available, the News Channel seems sorta useless to me. Maybe I'll be surprised though...

The internet channel looks like complete dogshit on my tv though, so hopefully the news channel will be nice and clean like the weather channel is. :)

Nintendo Wii to pimp AP News Channel on Sat.

Published: 10 hours ago; 11:25am PDT
by Marcus Lai

Nintendo Co. this weekend will launch an online news service for owners of the Wii video game system.
The Wii News Channel will feature news stories and photographs from The Associated Press beginning this Saturday.

The News Channel joins the Weather Channel and the Internet Channel as non-gaming offerings for the motion-sensing console. The Kyoto-based company aims to attract a broader audience with casual game titles and informative wares.

Nintendo this week reported sales of more than 3 million Wii units worldwide, with 1.1 million sold in the U.S to date. Brisk sales of Wii and the Nintendo DS handheld boosted quarterly profit 40% from the year prior.

Nintendo forecasts sales of 6 million Wii consoles by the end of Mar. 2007.

We've been throwing around a lot of sales figures recently, that I cannot remember if the above has already been posted.

You gotta hook up the Wii with components, because i just realized the significant difference!

I played Windwaker on the GC for a long times (recently too) and the images kinda burned into my head, so i know what i'm seeing on the screen, oh the GC is hooked up via the composite... So, i played Windwaker on the Wii (which uses component), man, noticeable difference. For the first times, i can actually see the edges of the grass i been chopping all this time! Yeap, you can see the grass more clearer... And the flower bulbs that suppose throw you up? Well, the stem is solid on the component display, i don't ever remember seeing that when playing via composite. Also, the over all color is more vivid as well. Well, i still see jagged lines, but that's to be expected. However, overall, the game got a different feel to it on component, try it!

Now, i'm gonna check for RE4...

The News Channel is now live!

Just finished a marathon of Zelda and decided to check on the updates just in case. Lo and behold there was an update and I now have the news channel.

Pretty neat so far. They categorize the new bulletins into different categories. It took awhile for me to figure out how to get to the globe view. Pretty neat as the articles stack on top depending on how much a certain area is getting. I wish they would open it up to other news sources though as it would be neat to get real local news. As it is there are just AP articles to browse through.

Overall a really neat feature. Just like the weather though it won't really supplant any other internet based source. I will still get the bulk of my news from my own myyahoo setup.
