Linksys is about as good as you can get for routers. I had a Zyxel for awhile and ended up throwing the worthless thing in the trash. Worst router I ever owned.

Even though I've only owned my Wii for a few weeks now, the novelty of a lot of items has worn off.

I am mostly disappointed in the Wii controls and honestly I think I just played on pads for too long to ever fully adjust. The Wii controls are a blast on Wii Sports, but not as good for Wario Ware and Wii Play. The games are fun, but I still have the 5% of the time when the controller just doesn't respond.
Things are also bad on Trauma Center. The game is fun and they made it much easier, but I still hate that my slight hand shaking causes my stitching and cutting to be so inaccurate. The game is very forgiving in easy mode, but it is still not nearly the precision I expected from the Wii. I won't even get into Excite Truck which I am simply too uncoordinated to play.
However, I remember having adjustment problems with the DS as well. In time the titles made better use of what the DS could do and I think that will happen with the Wii as well. There will be PS2/Cube ports with tacked on controls, but I think the original games with good use of the remote will win out in the end. I am definitely excited about many of the games coming this year.
This console will evolve over the year and I think it will establish itself as a serious contender and not some Wii Sports fad.

I can't get a wireless or a wired connection with the adapter to work. Should it be this difficult to connect?

The novelty of the Wii has worn out for me as well, although it took about a month. I was really in to Wii Sports at first, but I pretty much haven't touched the Wii for about a month now other then to check out updates and new channels. My 360 I continuously come back to for Live Arcade games, Gears, and NBA 2K7.
But honestly, I wasn't nearly as enthralled by the Wii controls as a lot of people here were, so i'm not really dissapointed since my hopes for it weren't too high. I'm perfectly happy with the 360 controller

Wii controls:
I've mentioned before that I'm still wowed. I've only had my Wii for a few weeks though, instead of since launch like many of you. I absolutely love the controls for Zelda. I couldn't imagine the game being as good on the Gamecube because I think the controls add so much and are so easy. Like someone else said, it's nice not having to remember what button does what. I know I shake the wii-mote to swing my sword and I shake the nunchuck to do a big attack. It's easy. And the pointing for shooting arrows, grappling, etc. is awesome.
Other than boxing, Wii Sports is a blast and the novelty hasn't worn off at all.
Wii Play's pool uses the controller very well. I'd like to see a full pool game.
Warioware is a blast. The contols work fine for me -- and have only messed up (not responded) when I tried playing while sitting down.
Excite truck's controls are great. I love the feel of it... though I suck at racing games and crash constantly -- nothing to do with the wii-mote, I'd do the same with a regular controller.
Trauma Center was easy to use. The surgery game play was fun. The story kinda sucked though.
I don't use the news and weather channel too much because I tend to watch the morning news before going to work and listen to NPR on the way to and from work. I get my news and weather fill from that, but the channels are neat and I play with them every once in a while
The vote channel is a waste of space right now, but I'm hoping it matures. It has potential
The internet channel rocks. They need to update Flash though, because some sites don't work, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the browser was. The wii's in the same room as the computer right now, so it's doesn't get a lot of use, but we will likely move the Wii to the front room soon, and it will be nice to surf the web from my living room couch.
I'm really digging the VC. The prices need to be cut in half, but I don't own any other Nintendo (or genesis) consoles right now and have only owned the NES, so the ability to download SNES and N64 games especially is really cool. I never got to play an N64 games and have only played a handful of SNES games.
Anyway... I've played the Wii everyday since I've got it. Of course, the only other consoles I have are a DS and a PS2, so it's not like I have Xbox 360 games to play or anything.
Playing regularly now: Zelda, Wii Sports, Warioware, Excite Truck, and Wii Play.

It got fairly mediocre reviews, but I think it's a blast...and everyone I've had over has had a lot of fun with it once they adjust to the controls. Many others here seem to like it as well.
If you like arcadey racers vs. driving sims, you'll love Excite Truck.
Highly recommended.

Now, I should mention, my Netgear is a modem/wireless router that I had been using from Time Warner Cable. That one is on Nintendo's list of being incompatible. The cable guy is bringing me a regular modem this morning to replace the Netgear I have. I had rigged up everything last night just to see if it would work. So maybe using the Netgear as my modem is still causing the problem. Could be wishful thinking too.
I'll take any advice I can get to connect. I have 2 2,000 pt cards waiting to be used, but I can't get online.

It is very fun. Like most of the Wii titles, once the launch newness wore off, I'd say it isn't a $50 game. I'd say $30, which is what I paid. So dig up some coupons/gift cards for it.

Success!
Cable guy came and took my crappy Netgear router and replaced it with a Motorola modem. I hooked the Linksys back up with the Wii and it worked!!!!!!!
I changed the MTU setting to 1600. Not sure what combination fixed the problem, but now I can finally download some old games. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Anyone know how to set up the Fon.com La Fonera for the wii? The only wireless device I have, other than my work laptop which is at work, is my Wii. Has anyone successfully set it up using only the Wii? I can see the private network but it won't transfer any data.
I've got the Fonera hooked into the 'uplink' port of my wired router, which is in turn connected to the cable modem. Does the uplink work for that, or do I need to use one of the other ports, or will this not work like this?

Whether it saves anything timewise over re-downloading as needed is up in the air. I suppose if the library of games online increases dramatically over time and there's no search option, it may take a while to navigate.

Also, I figured out that 1 block = 1 Megabit. My 1Gig (982 MB usable) card shows 7,856 blocks free. That translates to 1/8 MB per block, or 1Mb. So LttP at 41 blocks is just over 5MB (5 times the size of the ROM on my PC
).Now, what I don't have access to is what the Wii actually has outside of the OS. I have all the Nintendo channels downloaded and a number of Wii game saves. I have 11 VC games (2 NES, 3 T-16, 1 Gen, and 5 SNES) and their appropriate save states. Currently I have 1341 blocks free or 167.625 MB free. A far cry from the 512 it comes with.
Things are going to start getting very tight as the console ages, the OS is patched, and channels are added. Channel management is going to become an essential part of Wii ownership.

Anyone know how Dolby Prologic II works?
I just got a new receiver that supports it, but I honestly have no idea how. I'm assuming I turn it on using the DSP settings on the receiver. With Dolby Digital and DTS this is automatic, but I'm thinking with analog audio I actually have to turn on the DSP for Dolby Prologic II.

Played a GC game on the Wii for the first time last night, it's a bit annoying that you have to have the Wiimote to click on the GC game to start it.
Not a big deal, but would be nice if you could control the menu with the GC controller like you can with the classic controller so you don't have to drag the Wiimote out just to click one thing.

I don't know if anyone else has done this yet, but it was fun so I thought I would post it. I had a friend over tonight to play some Wii Sports tennis. We played doubles with each of us working two wii remotes. It was fun and made for some interesting play trying to remember which hand to swing with. It probably looked pretty funny too, like we were playing some weird imaginary drums...
