Possible $100 XBox 360 Core System from Amazon this Thursday...

Here's the link:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/holiday/cv/...619941-1034216

Amazon is doing a vote for a weekly deal, and right now, the XBox 360 Core System is the clear winner.

How This Works:

* Only the deal elected by customers will be offered. Every customer may vote once per week.
* Only the quantities listed will be available at the winning price.
* All products are brand new.
* Voting closes Tuesday at 9 p.m. Pacific Time, and the winner will be announced Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pacific Time.
* The winner will go on sale Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Be here!
* Increase your odds of scoring the deal by reading our buying tips.
Thought you might like a shot.

Too bad they don't offer it to Canadians

KurrptSenate 11-21-06 08:06 AM

so basically, on thanksgiving, I sign on amazon.com at 1 p.m (est) and just check on core consoles?

It would be amazing, but I'm doubting it :/

Trevor 11-21-06 08:23 AM

I'll try it, to have a backup 360, but I imagine there will be a lot of "server is busy" errors.

Not exactly. You have to go through the voting link page:

How to Get Amazon Customers Vote Deals

Each week's winner goes on sale Thursdays at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Buying will close when available quantities have sold out. Be online, ready and waiting on Amazon.com, the second buying goes live. If you don't have an Amazon.com account already, get one now. We predict that these deals will sell out rapidly.

You won't buy products from Amazon Customers Vote the way you'd ordinarily buy at Amazon.com. We've implemented a special series of screens to ensure we only take as many orders as we can fulfill, and to ensure that each customer buys only one item. You'll be asked to verify your identity, and issued one of a limited number of claim codes that allow you to purchase at the special discounted price.

You must buy via the Amazon Customers Vote page (amazon.com/customers-vote), not the product detail page, in order to buy one of the set-aside items; otherwise, you will not pass through the series of screens in which we issue the claim code, and you will not receive the discount.

Additionally, only items shipped from and sold by Amazon.com are included in this promotion, although some of these items are sold on our site by third-party merchants. If you add an item to your cart from the detail page using the "Add to Shopping Cart" button for a different merchant (such as Target), we cannot apply the claim code to your order.

I can't wait til they sell all 1000 alloted in 2 minutes and then see the throng of internet posts whining about bait and switch and threatening to sue amazon for not selling it to them for $100.

Canis Firebrand 11-21-06 09:23 AM

Don't forget the greed that will place at least half of those 1000 alloted items up on ebay for profit.

KurrptSenate 11-21-06 09:28 AM

i want to try to get one for a friend for christmas. If it doesn't work out, im sure I won't lose any sleep over it

DJ_Longfellow 11-21-06 09:52 AM

Yeah, it's funny...people are ALREADY bitching about this deal. I will try, It will be 2 minutes of my life.

KurrptSenate 11-21-06 09:55 AM

people are so damn whiney on the internets

porieux 11-21-06 09:56 AM

Even though I don't have too much interest in the Xbox, I will try just for the hell of it.

Iron_Giant 11-21-06 04:53 PM

Bring it on...my son would love to open the XBox 360 under the tree.

Nazgul 11-21-06 08:14 PM

Cool. I voted for the Barbie deal!

heavywear 11-21-06 08:22 PM

84.3% of votes so far ;)

bahgee 11-21-06 10:10 PM

I think Amazon may be trying out this method of handing out claim codes for when they finally decide to sell PS3.

No way this deal lasts for two minutes. This deal will last as long it takes for 1000 people hovering over the the Buy It link to left-click.

It would be amazing if you got one an hour early!

KurrptSenate 11-22-06 07:58 AM

PixyJunket 11-22-06 08:11 AM

KurrptSenate 11-22-06 08:13 AM

I'll be at the in-laws, also with dial-up. :(

Xander 11-22-06 09:09 AM

Huh. Well, I suppose I'll give this a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the heads-up! :)

I'll be on dial up at my parents house as well. I'm still giving it a try though.

fataldog187 11-22-06 04:43 PM

I was very excited about this deal until I saw posts about it on almost all the message boards I go to. There's definitely a lot of buzz about this deal and I think it may be tough to get in on it. At my house we'll have at least 2 people trying for it, I let some of the more tech-savvy relatives know that if they wanted a shot they may need to bring their laptops because we only have 3 computers that can be used at a time.

chrisih8u 11-22-06 05:23 PM

I'll give it a shot. Do I just have to go to the page that XBox 360 sells at normally, or will there be a special link?

Draven 11-22-06 11:07 PM

I was getting my hair cut tonight and talking about the deal with the girl (she had asked me if I'd gotten a Wii this weekend). I was telling her about it and someone from across the room chimed in, saying she knew about it too.

It's definitely out there.

Tarantino 11-23-06 01:02 PM

Looks like Amazon isn't even responding for me...

= J

Trevor 11-23-06 01:02 PM

Reloaded my page 2 minutes prior, and it didn't refresh until after it was all over.

Arpeggi 11-23-06 01:03 PM

Got it on one at 11:03! WTF?

lukewarmwater 11-23-06 01:03 PM

Yeah I can't get on there site at all.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/holiday/cv/homepage

isn't working either.

Mok 11-23-06 01:03 PM

it's over wow that was fast, I guess only people with T1 get the good deals.

TheBang 11-23-06 01:03 PM

Well, that was stupid. The servers were so slow. I had 7 browser windows going, trying to load the page. By the time 1 of them finally loaded at 11:01:28, they were all sold out already.

jeffdsmith 11-23-06 01:04 PM

Won't load for me. eh

Absolute Zero 11-23-06 01:04 PM

I could never get the page to refresher about 2 minutes before hand.

This had nothing to do with the speed of your connection. It was luck of the draw as to whether the Amazon web servers responded fast enough to load the page for you or not.

Mine still hasn't refreshed

ZakVTA 11-23-06 01:06 PM

I didn't get lucky. The web servers decided to not respond to 3 of my computers.

king slug 11-23-06 01:06 PM

Pfft, I tried to refresh at 1:58 ET and the amazon home page wouldn't even load. So much for Thanksgiving and no one being able to be near a computer huh...

darkside 11-23-06 01:06 PM

I got to actually click on the deal, but never got it to respond so I could get the 360. Page just timed out.

Brent L 11-23-06 01:06 PM

Ha, yeah, the page wouldn't load at all for me. Hell, it's still trying to load.
