Anyone looking for a few good games on the cheapshould check out this site.

http://www.budgetvideogames.com/XBOX%20360

They have 4 360 games for $20 or less. They also have a bunch of PSP and other system's games cheap. The best part, google checkout.

I definitely see Sony's share going below 50% although I'd be surprised if it went below 35%.
I think Microsoft is going to end up first this generation, and one of the main reasons is it will take Sony too long to manufacture the units to catch up. At the rate it looks like they are going, it isn't going to become widely available until a year and a half into the 360's life cycle. By then the 360 will probably have an installed base of more than 10 million, which will be a big incentive to to win over the wide third party support the PS2 enjoyed last gen.

This all depends on how well the Wii is accepted by the casual, non-gamers Nintendo is targeting, since Nintendo can manufacture the units to catch up.

And don't forget that Nintendo has many more exclusive titles to offer than either Sony or Microsoft, probably combined.

you have to understand that these analysts probably know less than the normal avid gamer. they only look at trends, and make comparisons accordingly. They are definitely not Nostradamus incarnates.

that being said, it's amazing how many people listen to them and think they actually know wtf they are talking about

I think it goes both ways. Regular gamers don't understand why crappy licensed games sell well.

I think regular gamers understand why crappy licensed games sell well (it's the license, duh), they just don't understand how the people who buy them can like them.

I don't think the people that buy them generally like them. Or rather, the 6 year olds who play them. My brother would rather play Harry Potter than Castlevania. I bought back his copy of Advance Wars and got him something else.

Kids.

Speaking of licensed titles, I just tried out the Superman demo. Flying around is awesomely fun, but I don't think this would be worth a purchase.

Really? I really liked the Demo. I guess I'll be the only one buying Superman Returns.

Defender is finally up and it looks good, you can even fill the whole screen without it looking all stretched out. Great Job!

This being the 1-year anniversary of the 360, I finally went ahead and bought myself one. And I got a $100 rebate - I always said I'd hold off until there was a price drop, and this was as good as one. I go into the details here: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=483697

Anyways - I knew it'd be cool and all, but I was not ready for 1080 HD gaming in 5.1 surround sound. Holy shit! The in-store demos do not do this justice. The only downside was that playing this on my home-theater set-up was just sensory overload - I seriously had to stop after about 20 minutes. Damn.

Oh, I got 2 games: Call of Duty 3, and Gears of War.

Quick question - how do I hook up to my DSL if it's upstairs and my 360 is downstairs? Will any remote thingy do?

I think it will be like Spider-Man 2. The free-roaming aspect will be great, but the actual game will be repetitive. Still, I know I'd enjoy the flying part a lot, so I'm hoping I get a review copy.

Demo is fun, I'll be picking it up when it hits $15-20.

Congrats on the new buy and welcome to the club. First you need to have a wireless router to send your DSL signal to your Xbox, then your going to need a Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter they go for about $99. Unless you can run a wire.

Yep, welcome to the club. You can get a 360 WNA for less than that on eBay. My cousin bought one for around $50-$60, and it works perfectly.

Is Superman going to have any multiplayer aspect? Superman vs. Bizarro would be awesome.

Well, I just tried the Superman demo. In my opinion it feels like a pretty good game, with lots of fun to be had, but it's not "$60 good". To me it's missing that little something extra to push it past the "average but good, wait for a price drop" range up to the "great, fantastic, first day purchase for sure" level.

I'll buy it for sure when I can grab it for $20-$40 or so. It would be the perfect type of game for one of those droughts where you want something new to play after you have just finished up all of the 50 hour long marathon games and the really, really solid games of the fall and winter.

I do have a wireless router but damn, $99 for the 360 adapter? You can get PC adapters for around $20... Is going on-line with the 360 worth all that?

Yes, it's worth it. Playing online with other people, downloading demos, XBLA, etc. Like I said before, shop around and you can get it for around half the retail price.
