Ok, first relevant post here, I think anyway.

Local KMart has nothing, Walmart has COD3 and GOW collectors but I don't want to pay the extra for CE. So should I order GOW and wait or go buy COD3? I love COD2 but I want GOW bad, but will prolly only buy one and rent the other. What do you guys think?

I know my Best Buy has GoW. Hopefully my GameRush has it tomorrow. I want so many 360 games right now, but I've been busy with the new baby and all....so, I may have to settle for just one game right now.

obvious YMMV but my wife just picked up a copy of Prey:LE for 29.99 and GoW:LE for 59.99 at Meijers. Prey was labeled at 59.99 but it rang up at 50% off. this was at the Meijers in Lincoln Park, MI.

Anyone know if there is a cheaper alternative to the official 360 wireless adapter? Is there a regular xbox version that works or a 3rd party usb one? $99 is a little steep.

Check ebay, I was able to get the 360 adapter for $55 and change, shipped. Also, some people have been using this adapter with great success: http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WGA11B...&s=electronics

Are there still rumors of addressing the fan/noise issue with 360's manufactured and released next Spring? Might hold out till then if that's the case. Anyone?

Damnit, anyone know what is up with my 360?

I have over 125 hours in Oblivion, almost done with the game now just finishing the mage quests, the fighters guild quests and I am at the main quest where the great gate is about to open and I have to tell the countess. Now, just in the last two days, when I talk to a character, there is no voice but there is a voice when I walk by people. It's also taken to freezing on loading new levels and so on. I tried clearing the cache with the A button a few times, but the game has froze about 6 times in two days. Am I screwed and will soon get the red ring?

I'm tempted to do that too. But Gears of Wars looks really nice.

I think what I'm going to do is get a 360 from Costco. They have quite simply the best return policy of any store around. You bring the item back with your receipt, and they give you cash back. This'll spare me from having to get an overpriced extended warranty from Microsoft. If my 360 never has any problems...fantastic! But if it does, then I can just return it and get one of the newer (hopefully better cooling) versions.

Have you tried to go back to one of your earlier game saves? I had to do that a couple of times and it seemed to work.

No I didn't try that. I did resolve a couple of the issues. When I have my home theater set to digital 5.1 then I get all sounds and all voices except when directly speaking to a character. If I set my HT to just stereo, I get all the voices. This makes no sense and it can't be the cable since if the fiber optic were broken no sound would be heard. The HT is working since voices are heard when walking past characters and the music and sound effects are fine in 5.1 digital. Some odd glitch.

As for freezing, I noticed after I posted that I had 240 game saves, and even though it shouldn't matter since I had 10.7 GB free space on HDD, Oblivion was taking up 480 MB. So I deleted all but about the last 10 saves, now it's at 30 MB. The load times went way down and no freezing after that, yet.....

I wanted to see if our own Liver with his wonderful contacts in the industry (or anyone else who might have heard anything) has heard any sort of release date for Culdcept Saga. There was a video around E3 and i thought it was due this fall but haven't heard anything else about the game sense. I'm hoping since it is a very Japanese card battling game it might come out for less than 60$.

CoD3 continues to be the most awesome game i own right now other than some online issues which i hope get corrected soon. Gears so far has been really disappointing.

I had this problem a couple months ago. Turns out that I had accidently hit one of the DSP buttons on my amp.

Try looking for a button that says "direct." You want to be in basic Dolby Digital, not any of that other crap, like concert or whatever. Most receivers have a "direct" DD 5.1 setting, which is probably the problem.

Heads up!

Frys has these games on sale today:

Gears of War $49.99
Call of Duty 3 $47.99
F.E.A.R. $49.99
Tony Hawks Project 8 $47.99

Looks like I'm picking up COD3 earlier rather than later!

Are you sure that's the 360 version of COD3?

Yep, because they show the XBox version for $37.99. I almost got fooled a couple of days when their add came out. I thought the $37.99 version was the XBox 360 version, but I looked carefully at the picture and it was the XBox / PS2 version. Some friends were there that day and said the line was almost out the door.

It's going to be busy at lunch today, but a $12 savings is worth it.

Online they have it listed as the 360 version of CoD3, but I"m not so sure that isn't a pricing error. Who knows.

I doubt it's a pricing error, Fry's is excellent about game prices early on (Sales).

CoD3 and F.E.A.R. imports are $44.90 a piece now ($48 shipped from Hong Kong), up about $5 on F.E.A.R. (which was $39.90) disappointing but ah well.

These are most assuredly not pricing errors. Their ads are pretty clear as to what the price is and they have clear pictures of the boxes.

I'll let you know how it goes.

The Fry's ad in the Atlanta paper confirms those prices for the 360 games.
