I just went with a skin from www.decalgirl.com. Cheaper than the faceplates and are removable without leaving a residue. They also have this for those brave enough to open the case.

I saw that at llamma.com, and I want it. Too bad I have already had 2 replacements of my 360 and the thought of no warranty on a $400 machine I have had problems with has stopped me.

Dealzmodo: Xbox 360 Premium For $200

Micro Center has a possible deal configuration where you can get an Xbox 360 premium for $200. First, you can buy an Premium 360 for $399, then take advantage of their $100 mail-in rebate which goes until 12/31.

Then, if you go to the B&M store and get a Micro Center credit card, you get 13,000 points that you can redeem for $100. Who knows what opening yet another credit line will do for your credit score, but $199 sure beats $399. Let us know if you have any luck with this deal. – Jason Chen

Dave Nabs Xbox 360 For $200 (Sort Of)
By Dave Zatz | Filed under Gaming, Media, Xbox, HDTV @ 9:26 am

While I often live on the bleeding edge of technology, there are occasions when I’m content to wait. As a casual gamer, I didn’t pick up the Xbox 360 last year and I waited to try all three next gen systems before making a purchase. Now that I’ve some experience with the various consoles, I decided on the 360. Many factors led to this choice including price, online offerings, controller comfort, and visual quality (Wii doesn’t make the cut). Sony’s integration of a Blu-ray drive into the PS3 is compelling, but the downloadable high definition movies makes it nearly a wash and Microsoft beats them in the other areas… Not to mention I could actually find an Xbox and for significantly less cash.

So now let me tell you how I’m (theoretically) getting the 360 for half price… Micro Center is running an in-store deal to promote their Gaming Department. Buy an Xbox (Core or Premium) by December 5 and get a $100 rebate by mail. That brings the Premium unit down from $399 to $299. But wait… there’s more! If you get their credit card (and potentially lower your credit score in the process) and make a $399 purchase you’ll receive 13,000 points redeemable for $100 check. For a twenty dollar rebate I wouldn’t bother jumping through these hoops, but $200 makes it worthwhile… assuming it works.

I’m still between projectors, so the 360 will live with the TiVo Series3 and Slingbox Pro attached to a 30″ Panasonic HDTV. My classic Xbox and Moviebeam are headed to ebay (to join my former Gamecube and PS2). I’ve enjoyed playing the online demos of Rainbox Six and Modern Warfare the last two nights, and I’ve loaded up on Points to make my first purchase once Superman Returns HD arrives. If you’re interested in kicking my butt online, my gamertag is Zatz and I look suspiciously like the creepy Burger King.

UPDATE: Turns out Micro Center has extended the $100 rebate dealio through 12/31! That should give you enough time to get to one of their 19 locations.

Got a 360 a few weeks ago from BB...should I get an extended warranty? The way I understand it, buying with my Citicard gives me an extra year already. So would it be a bit redundant to get the BB warranty?

Also keep in mind the BB warranty is only good for ONE replacement then you have to buy it again when you get a new Xbox. The MS warranty is unimited replacements over the course of the 2 years. They do refurb xboxes whereas BB would give you credit towards a brand new one.

Two years from purchase. it's a replacement warranty. If it's broken, you call a number, they give you a case number, then you send in the console and if everything checks out okay, they send you a voucher for full purchase price. It is one time only, but you can buy another one with your next console, and if the price of the console drops, the price of the replacement plan drops as well. However, Best Buy also will honor you if you bring in everything to the store, they'll give you a voucher right there. It's much nicer, though it's not written as such in the fine print so I suppose they could deny it at any time.

The credit card thing I'm aware of is the American Express will double the manufacture's warranty up to one year more. Great for a PS3 -- two full years, not so hot for the 360 -- 180 days.

Yeah, one time use. They'll replace the machine but it'll cost another $50 for a replacement warranty. It's good for 2 years total, not in addition to a manf. warranty unfortunately.

Has anyone used those decal skins? Im considering buying the black skin (not case) to match the rest of my HT set up. How do they look? Are they easy to peel off? What about the controllers? Id imagine skins on a controller would alter the feeling so Im not sure on purchasing the controller skin.
