Nah. I was doubtful, even hesitent about picking it up at first, but Gears has definitely lived up to the hype. One of only a few times that has happened in gaming.

I just got this months EGM. They didn't do a full reveiw yet but they had a small write up in their section for games that they got but not in time for a full review (which will be next month). They actually said that the controls can be frustrating since you need to be pin-point accurate when aiming. Not much more was said since it was one paragraph but we'll see. I have no doubt that this will be in the running for game of the year but I may hold off on getting a Wii and just pick this one up for GC in Dec.

I want to know why the Cube version isn't up for pre-order anywhere.

I thought the rumors that it'd only be available through Nintendo were bunk.

So what's the deal?

Well.. isn't that the case with the other 3D Zelda games minus the controller difference? I mean.. this isn't news to anybody whose done all the bow & arrow challenges from Majora's Mask or tried to shoot those damn ghosts while on horseback in Ocarina of Time. When I played it at the Fusion Tour I felt that it would be SO much better than an analog stick once you actually get used to it.. think of the difference of playing a shooting game with a light gun compared to playing the same game with an analog controller.

The rumors of the GC version being sold by Nintendo only were for Japan and I think true. It will be available here in stores. I agree that it's strange that no one is pre-ordering it.

I know what you mean but from what I was reading it made it seems like it was almost a nuisance using the Wii controller. I have absolutely no experience with the Wii of course, I haven't even seen a demo unit yet so take it for what it's worth. I would think that if it worked better they would mention it as a strong point, not a fault.

That's what ruined Zelda for me also. I throw in the game and instead of Legend of Zelda, I find I'm playing f*cking Tomb Raider, complete with crappy camera angles.

Nothing personal, but that is the most asinine comparison I've ever heard about OoT.

Why? Tomb Raider got popular, and suddenly there's a Legend of Zelda game using the same damned annoying camera system. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.

Ocarina of Time uses the same camera system as Super Mario 64.

Super Mario 64 was released on June 23rd, 1996.
Tomb Raider was released on November 15th, 1996.

Oh no!

Something I read (or watched) noted that the key to aiming was to press the button to pull the bow back before you aim, so you just have to release it to shoot. This was the case as aiming and then pressing the button throws it off as the act of pushing the button moves the target cursor.

I don't think the camera in OOT was anywhere near as bad as the camera in Tomb Raider.

Not to mention the terrible controls in Tomb Raider, while the control in Zelda was spot on most of the time.

No matter who used the system first, my point is that I thought it sucked. I hated it in Tomb Raider, and I hated it in Zelda.

No, you said they used it because Tomb Raider got popular. That's different than what you're saying now.

Eugh...why does this have to be one of the games that is only available on the 19th? It sucks. My friend and I just discovered that a local Best Buy has it in stock, so we called (it's worth a try, right?) and of course, they can't sell it until Sunday.

I'm not whining - it just would've been nice to have been able to secure a copy of the game, considering I'm worried that it'll be sold out at Toys 'R Us when I go to pick up my bundle.

I can't imagine Zelda being tough to find as they'll probably ship as many, or more units of it as they do consoles.

Everyone says that but I say no way is Nintendo pusing 1:1 Wii to Zeldas. It is a popular franchise and will sell big but in no way does this game appeal to everyone.

On launch day it will definitely be attainable since 90% of people picking up the Wii will be hardcore gamers, once it starts hitting shelves in numbers it will quickly drop off.
