Has anyone tried to create a different profile for a family member on the same 360? I am trying to create one for my wife and it's asking for another code or to buy Live Gold again. I called tech support and it seems they double as Dell tech support.
WTF?!?!?I find it hard to believe I will have to pay for another subscription just so she has her own gamer tag. Which is what they are now claiming. It's like Comcast charging you $46 a month for you to use the internet and then your other family members $46 a month to use it. It's the same damn machine!!!! How could we both be signed in and "taking advantage" of them, as I was just told by them? |
Gamer Tags aren't tied to a machine are they? I mean, you could get another 360 and use your account on it or on a buddy's machine right?
If so, what would be to stop your wife from creating one under your subscription and then moving onto a 2nd console where you essentially get 2x the benefit for the cost. |

Pinata: How hard would it be to prevent that?
AOL would sign you out if someone else tried to sign in under the same account from a different computer with a different user name. In freaking 1997. |
I fairly sure that you could create a silver account for you wife, and not have to pay for it. That would allow her to have her own game saves and such, but no online play.

The options were in Japanese when I set up the account, so I'm not sure what exactly they said, but there were prices in yen next to each option, and the bottom one was 0 yen, which should be the free Silver account option. Go through the account setup again and when you get to the option where you pick account type, double-check for a free or Silver option.
After that month she will have no gold benefits. Stupid stupid stupid. god help the people who have 3-4 kids and one 360. |
you can set up a different PROFILE under your gamertag. The other person plays using that gamertag but its free. I had to set up one for my friend when we played GRAW split screen style. They are easy to delete too

What about if she's playing an XBL arcade game such as Bejeweled? It's my gamertag that goes to the scoreboard, and my gamertag that gets the accomplishments? |

In games like Halo 2 that allow guests online you can have someone piggyback as a guest into a game and they show up as xmiyux1, xmiyux2, xmiyux3 If you want your wife to have her own name that can play online as an independant entity (as in perhaps play against you in a game or with you in a game against other people online) and the game doesn't allow guests (not many if any on the 360 do) then yes she needs her own 50$ a year account. Personally i don't see what the big deal with this is since that second account is reaping all the benefits of the first account through playing online and could grief just like all the other accounts. I want people to have to pay to play on Live - cuts down at least a little on some of the jackassery. |

Well keep in mind I have only had the 360 a total of 2 days
I won't be able to test it for 30 days (until the free trial runs out). Thanks & sorry for my ranting. It's just more than a bit surprising to me. |

I see your point though and agree with the sentiment. I do also think that the 50$ i pay for a year long Live subscription is probably the most effective and entertaining money i spend all year long. |

Protects MS from your scenario, and prevents those of us with multiple people in the same household (yet one console) from being bent over and done dry. |

Nevermind, you can find deals on a year's worth of Xbox Live Gold all the time. Cheapassgamer.com is a good source.
I re-upped my Gold subscription until November 07 for $20 with one of those deals. |
How awesome. On Marvel UA, you can use Thing to pick up Wolverine and throw him across the screen at enemies.

So did the UMK3 release take place of this week's Wednesday Arcade game?

Looking on the official Splinter Cell website: http://splintercell.us.ubi.com/newsp...p?news_id=1447
it says that the Double Agent single player demo is on marketplace. I don't see it anywhere on marketplace. All I see is the multiplayer demo. Am I looking in the wrong place or am I going blind or what? |
IGN's FEAR review is up.
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/741/741860p1.html Closing Comments F.E.A.R. is great experience that isn't without its faults. The repetitive environments and less than ideal online and multiplayer situations are a letdown, for sure. F.E.A.R. has made it from the PC to 360 with everything that made it an outstanding experience along with a few new additions including the fantastic Instant Action mode, making it hard to lodge any huge complaints against the game. Those who have played F.E.A.R. on PC may not find enough of a reason to purchase the game again as the added content is fairly limited. If you haven't yet seen why F.E.A.R. has attracted so many fans, this port to the console is your chance to experience a truly scary game with some great combat. Just don't say we didn't warn you when you are lying in bed too scared to find out what is making that shadow on your ceiling. Another Take from Douglass C. Perry While Erik played the game on PC, I didn't. F.E.A.R. for me was a totally new experience and, as console games go, an excellent one. The single-player game is a full-on visual-audio experience, the controls are tight and the kick-ass weaponry is aplenty. The online game was solid when we played, and we played on retail builds. Though admittedly, we didn't get to experience a full 16 player game. Lastly, the Achievements are ridiculously tough and are just plain mean and stupid. But hey, who plays the game for Achievements anyway? UM... While F.E.A.R. has been low on the hype meter for a while, as soon as this hits retail, I think hardcore gamers will discover its greatness real quick. IGN Ratings for F.E.A.R. (X360) 8.6 Presentation A great port from the PC to 360. The lack of true controller customization options and certain multiplayer modes are questionable omissions. 9.1 Graphics Outside of repetitive environments, F.E.A.R looks phenomenal. 9.3 Sound The creepy sound effects add volumes to the atmosphere. 9.0 Gameplay Excellent AI provides powerful combat sequences. Oh, and the game is very scary. 8.2 Lasting Appeal Having played the game several times already, it still was fun and Instant Action is great. The lack of online post-game lobbies may cause some to give up playing multiplayer. 9.1 OVERALL |

The Demo of FEAR was nothing special. So unless they radically redesigned the game, I can't possibly see how it got such a high review.
|
Unless it is the first level of the game. The first level/demo of both Condemned and Kameo were garbage, but both make my top 3 games on the system.
I'm looking forward to FEAR, but it may wait for Christmas or a price drop. I'm still going for achievements in Dead Rising. Haven't done much more than complete the main story in LSWII. Just snagged Splinter Cell. Gears is around the corner as well as the Wii and the 2-3 games I'll be getting for that. My plate is full. :) FEAR is on my want list though. Probably more than Gears. The only reason I opted for Gears was the bonus trade in credit when you pre-order it. |
Fear is a definite rental for me, only because when I had it on PC I couldnt max out the graphics.
From a gameply only perspective, the game has some good firefights and starts out very creepy. After a few hours the game kind of goes away from the good creepy stuff, and the lack of different environments really makes the game borderline dull. It's about 8 hours of fighting in cubicles and construction zomes. Decent game, not worth a purchase, imo. |
the new Gears of War ad for tv/theatres is available for gold members...or you can go here to watch it now:)
|
the ad is pretty sweet, it says its ingame graphics, if so wow!
