I am more of a MK2 person than a MK3 person. Why is everyone playing as smoke? Does he have some cheap moves?

Smoke is a very good well-rounded character whose basic moves are very easy to pull off. -> -> LK for a teleport attack. <- <- LP for a spear throw. He has a 7 hit combo. He can also turn invisible.

Overall a nice well rounded character.

I've been playing my favorite character, Kitana.

Got all the way to the final fight on the novice tournement, single player. I can't beat him. I forgot how cheap the computer AI is in this game.

At least I got some achivements on the way.

My Gears of War theme/gamer picture from EB coupon worked today. I didn't attend the GoW event but they had extra coupons yesterday. Not bad for free.

Rats I downloaded some of the new COD 3 picture packs and got some crappy brand logo
instead. Beware there is a problem with the picture packs do not buy any (like me) and get screwed over.

Cant believe no one is talking about the Rainbow Six vegas demo. After playing it half a dozen times, this game skipped over GOW for my most anticipated game this holiday season. It's incredible.

I'm downloading it as we speak.. I'll give me thoughts in a little while. This will be the first Rainbow 6 I've played.

I've had the demo for a week now. Xbox Magazine subscription pays off :D

Just to let you guys know, I saw on GAF that if you get the GOW pre-order pack you can get 1600 MS points for only $5.

I already bought the GOW pack unfortunately, so I'm hoping that this deal works for the COD3 map. Anyone willing to test this out?

I'm downloading the Rainbow Six demo right now. I like Europe's Live interface. It advertises demos instead of just having random boxes that say "Xbox Live," and their "Featured Downloads" section is actually being used.

Are you talking about the BB promo for this week? I would say it's ymmv, some people at cag.com were able to do it, but I couldn't do it at my local BB. I'll probably try at another location though.

From what I've read this is a newer build. Improved framerates and it says checkpoint on screen when you get to one.

Though the demo was pretty good myself.

I finally wore down my friend. He picked up a 360 tonight. He wanted a PS3. He loves GTA. I showed him how it wasn't exclusive anymore. Plus I told him about Saints Row. he bought that too. I think he made the right decision.

I just finished downloading and playing the Rainbow Six: Vegas demo. Why was it only released in Europe and Japan? That really makes no sense, especially as there are probably only 10 people in all of Japan that will download it since most Japanese gamers hate shooters.

Anyway, I really liked the demo. I always did like the Rainbow Six series more than the Ghost Recon series. The graphics in Vegas are awesome, not quite Gears of War quality, but close. My only complaint is that the stuttering was very bad in the demo. I usually don't care too much about framerate problems, and most of the time I don't even notice slowdowns. The stuttering in some places of the demo was absolutely horrible, even to me.

I wish Ubisoft would have released a demo of the actual Vegas casino they showed off at E3. It looked more exciting than the warehouse level we got in the Marketplace demo.

I totally agree. I sort of felt cheated that the main draw of the game is Vegas, yet we're playing in some nondescript warehouse. Although, the simple helicopter intro was nice. It really felt like Vegas.

I just picked up a 360 yesterday from Best Buy. Had them match the free wireless controller from CC, got Live, Tiger Woods07 and PGR3 w/10% coupons, & two 1600 pt cards for $4.99 each.

Questions:

How much of the 20GB hard drive is unusable? I realize there is a bunch of crap on there right now but it doesn't add up to 9GB (I show 11GB remaining). Is the OS that big?

If I get the extended warranty through XBox or Best Buy (same price, $60 for 2 years) and I need to have it replaced, what happens to all of my content?

I thought I read somewhere on here that there is a point&click adventure out (or coming out) for the 360 - was it just wishful thinking or does one exist? If so, what is it called?

I see that it's been months since any XBox games have been made compatible with the 360. Is the current list basically all that would work, or are they still making more compatible?

Keep your hard drive and turn in the system. I think the OS does use that much space. When I first got mine, I deleted all the extra junk and still only has 12 gb. But that's been plenty of space for me so far.

--> About 5GB of space is reserved for backwards compatibility, and theres about 2 or 3 gb of pre-loaded junk on the drive.

--> They should return the system with your same HDD, intact, or they will instruct you to back it up (not sure.) The HDD is rarely the problem.

--> There's a few PnC games out for the Xbox that are BC on the Xbox360. Though nothing specifically on the X360 yet.

The OS doesn't take up any space. I think I remember Major Nelson talking about it(possibly during last spring's update). It was designed to run in the background and everything clocks in under 5MB or something ridiculously small.

The lost space is likely the usual loss when buying a hard drive. Plus if I'm not mistaken, this missing 7GB is also reserved for BackCompat updates.

You can play the xbox 360 without even using a hard drive--The OS takes up no space on the HD

What a load of crap. Leave it to EA to be the first for charging for a cheat code on Marketplace. In fact, the only worthwhile content in that bunch is the extra missions.

Rumor is going around the Fall Dashboard update will be here by Halloween. This is due to the wireless headset coming out then, and the fact that systems now don't work with the wireless headset.

Or the wireless headset will be pushed for a while. Or they will provide a minor update to add wireless headset compatibility.

In this week's podcast, Major & E said that the Fall update is a couple months away. But who's knows? I'd imagine there is a big push to get it out before the launch of the PS3 just for the whole 1080p deal.

Is there any place that breaks street dates on games? I took the day off for a personal matter and I really want to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I know most places aren't putting it out until tomorrow.

I would assume a dahboard update is needed for HD-DVD add-on coming. Has MS released any kind of numbers of how many units will ship at launch? I'm hoping they won't be scarce like the actual 360 at launch. I would order online, but I have Best Buy RZ coupons.

It seems to me a warranty may be worth it. Am I correct in assuming the actual xbox one is a better deal, since it will repair any issues multiple times in a two-year period vs. the Best Buy two-year replacement plan which is good once (even if it's only 4 months into it).

The BC list should continue to grow. Microsoft has pretty consistently added new games to the list every 3 months or so. We should be due for another one soon since the last one was in August.

Personally, I don't think you will find a better warranty than the official Microsoft warranty for the very reason you said. Most store warranties will only apply to the original console, so you would have to buy a new warranty if you exchange your console. The Microsoft warranty can be carried over to your exchanged console.

There is 14GB of free useable space on the hard drive. When I first got my console, I formatted it to get rid of all that junk they preload onto it. I had 14GB free after that. The rest of the hard drive is used for system updates, backward compat files, and other things the console downloads automatically.
