The go gets a lot of hate because it bascially costs more and does less than its predacessor. Other than the size/design and the fact that it doesn't take UMD's, there is no signifcant difference between the PSP and the PSP Go (there's also the built in flash memory, but you can do the same thing with a memory stick on the original PSP). I personally don't see why someone would spend the money on one, unless you just had the extra money to throw around and wanted something that would fit in your pocket.

I bought the Go mostly for the smaller size. It does everything but play UMDs. But it also adds the "Pause Game" feature which I really dig, has built in memory (so I don't have to go buy another memory card), and has bluetooth support. I like it.

It is definitely more pocketable and I can see that as a big factor to consider. The bluetooth support and game pausing is also a nice addition. If you don't need UMD and don't mind the price I can see getting one.

The first Disgaea for $15 on PSN is a steal along with Silent Hill: Origins, also $15. Stuff like Tekken 6 and Final Fantasy Crisis Core are easy recommendations along with Jeanne D'Arc, but I don't know what the PSN status is of those 3.

Yeah, the PSP Go is sexy as hell, got to touch on last weekend, insanely drool worthy.

It's just a shame you can (in most case) gets the discs cheaper and that not every game is in available for it.

Oh.. and that whole thing about prior PSP users building up collections (including imports).

Btw, is it actually possible to jump onto the Japan or European PSN and buy stuff with the North American PSP Go?

I'll take a larger screen, more comfortable control design, cheaper games, larger game library and a cheaper hardware price over all of the features you list there.

I'll be the one to give you some flack if you want it. Buying a Go over a 3000 is just plain out dumb. But if you like wasting money, supporting Sony's shitty decisions and an inferior product, enjoy!

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

So now that the thread has been bumped, anything game wise to look forward to in 2010? Now that Creed, LPB, etc are out of the way, whats next? I hope we dont get another drought, but all I see for myself is Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Metal Gear. Several other releases are just multi-platform.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I'm looking forward to some of the older stuff finally coming to PSN, hopefully in the $10-15 range. There's already some pretty good deals on there, especially if you don't have easy access to bargain bins in the US . Also, more PS1 classics hopefully. Those are great on the go and look fantastic on the small screen.

I just bought a Go. (I have a PSP-2000 as well) The Go is quickly becoming my media player of choice. I like Media Go for syncing the Go (and 2000) better than the Zune software for syncing the Zune or iTunes for syncing the iPod.

I particularly like the SensMe Channels. Sony needs to add a bluetooth profile for QWERTY keyboard though.

I'm anti-digital downloads so I won't be buying any games for it. I'll stick to my 2000 for games.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

There are now 16 free comics for the PSP now. There's a comic section in the PSN store and a sub-hedding for Free Comics now.

I would be all over some of the Marvel ones if they were a dollar, but $2 just kills my interest. Wish they would bundle some of the storylines and discount them.

I guess Sony listened to the message boards and decided that since everyone always gets torn up over hardware updates, that they should release a sub-par upgrade.

I completely agree. For me, the magic price point is 99 cents or less.

I enjoyed the free Aleister Arcane comic and actually might pick up the couple of issues they have released for it...but only because they are 99 cents.

Finished God of War: Chains of Olympus on the plane ride home today. Awesome game! Now I'm working on the first Silent Hill. It's a bit old school, but has a pretty cool, creepy atmosphere...

Got my gf PJ Monsters Deluxe for xmas and we've both been having a great time playing it. Wish it had been cheaper, but still, it's great. Handles really well on the psp.

That's good to hear. I love the game on the PS3 and it's really spoiled me from any other tower defense game. I'm waiting for a PSN sale to pick that PSP one up -- I agree it's overpriced.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

On the rare chance that someone other than me buys PSP movies I thought I would mention that Gamestop got in a new shipment and is selling them this week for $2.99. Selection is so so, but I picked up:
Paprika
Tekkon Kinkreet
Vantage Point
30 Days of Night
Jawbreaker
Across the Universe
The Devils Own
Secret Room
Go
Lords of Dogtown

and there were several others I can't remember.

They also have a selection of $9.99 movies I hope drop, but if you can find them used they are $3.99 and I was able to grab Kill Bill 2 for $4 today.
Kill Bill
Kill Bill 2
National Treasure
Sin City
Chronicles of Narnia

If you are looking for cheap UMD movies GameStop is worth hitting up. I checked a couple of stores and they all had 1-3 copies of each in a little display in the middle by the PSP section.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Started playing Assassin's Creed Bloodlines and loving it. I'm a big fan of the series, played a lot of AC1, got 1000/1000 achievements on AC2, etc. So if you are a fan you have to get this game.
It's kinda short, already on memory 4 of 7, but it captures the mood of the bigger games.

Also, Target has this game and several others on sale this week. YMMV but the one I visited was sold out of Madden 09, so they put Little Big Planet on sale instead! so $20 for LBP, normally $40. Bought LBP and FIFA 10(PSP) for $20 each.

Yeah, I have my eye on FF Dissidia and Star Wars Battlefront Elite Forces at that price. What do you think of FIFA on the PSP?

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Yeah, check your local Targets. They also had Avatar (the game based in the movie) as a replacement for another game. So you may get lucky with the games you want.

I haven't tried FIFA, just bought it at lunch, but if it's half as good as FIFA 10 in the Xbox 360 it's going to be more than worthy, specially at that price.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Take that GO users! Though this is kinda crappy for them

Metal Slug XX released as UMD only in February.

An Atlus representative tells Joystiq that the publisher has no plans to release a downloadable version on the PlayStation Store;
