Best Buy has a bunch of PSP games on sale this week for $9.99 including GOW Ghost of Sparta, Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, LBP and Twisted Metal.

8 year bump!
PSA, if you didn't remove the battery in your PSP since storing it you might want to check on it. After hearing about them expanding and leaking I checked on mine and it had expanded so much that it popped off the battery compartment on the back, but thankfully I caught it before the battery started leaking. I ended up ordering a battery off eBay for under $10, so not a huge expense. Just glad I caught it in time.

Well shit, I don't think I've even looked at mine for five or six years, better check out the battery!

Oh wow. I'll check on mine as soon as I get home and report back!
I can't even remember the last time I played it, but I know I have a lot of games for it.
If it's toast, guess I'll just sell the games in a lot on ebay. Wonder if they've retained any value. I have no idea, but I doubt it.

Yup, buldged out battery on mine as well. Thankfully, no damage to the PSP. I can still play it plugged in, and since I'm only going to be revising some favorite games here and there, I doubt I'll buy a battery for it, as I'll just play it at home, near a wall socket. lol

I still need to find mine, it's probably shoved in a box somewhere. So at this point is there any resale value in PSP games or movies on UMDs? I'm guessing no?

I don’t know if the value is really huge but like a lot of older consoles/handhelds I think there is a bit of a collector’s market for it. Vita is becoming the same way. I don’t think either of the Sony handhelds were wildly successful, but I think they do have their fans. I’ve actually been getting back into my Vita a tad. Never owned a PSP though.

I think a lot of the games were available to download, which killed the resale market for the UMDs.
Though I'd guess that the online store for PSP games is dead, so maybe UMDs will kick back up - but then I doubt anyone's still playing their PSPs, so it's kinda moot.

After installing the new battery I spent about 30 minutes going through some games. I forgot how difficult some of those were without the second analog stick.
I'm also a little worried now about the battery in the Vita since it's not easy to remove like the PSP

Yeah, that’s one bad thing about electronics with rechargeable batteries. It seems like a lot of manufacturers like to make them so they’re nearly impossible to get to. I miss the days of being able to either swap out standard batteries or just buy a replacement or spare. I suppose they figure by that point many people will have moved on from wanting to use said device and will buy a new one. The Switch I worry about someday too. It could get relegated to either being docked or running on AC power instead of being portable.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3
I finally found my PSP, and yep, the battery bulged and popped off the back cover of the battery compartment. No damage or leaking that I can see though. Not sure what I'm going to do with the PSP now, I don't think it would be worth buying a new battery for it at this point. Maybe I'll just throw it all on ebay as a single lot.
