PSP 3000's have the interlacing issue.

I'd stick with a 2000 model.

I just got one of the 3000s and I don't see anything wrong with the screen. I'm not doubting it's there, but how much do you have to look for it to see it? The screen looks fantastic in my opinion.

Which I've also been playing a lot of. Either I got the magic 3000, I just don't know what to look for, or it's not that noticeable.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

So i just picked up the 2000 model for $135 at circuit city. I had a 1000 model but got rid of it too early. Now there's a lot of great games that I cant wait to play.

A few questions:

I heard there's a way to hook the psp up to a tv. Is there a special cable that needs to be purchased or can i use some other hook up?

I also know there are games on the psn that can be downloaded to the psp. How big of a memory stick is needed? I have a 128 mb card.

There are two cables you can get, composite and component. The component cables are really the ones to get because they support UMD movies, pictures and games. The composite cables do not support game playback on the TV. Both of these cables plug into the expanded headphone jack.

If you haven't played it yet I highly recommend God of War. It's excellent.

The Prinny's usually are. Only possible downside from what I have read is the difficulty is really high. That can be a plus or a minus depending on the person.

Amazon used. Cool list of games, really liked N+ (hard as heck on a couple levels, just resist throwing your psp against the wall)

It does look cool. I just wish someone had told me to turn off the sound before watching that - now I'm bleeding out of my ear holes...

If you are going to be downloading games, non-UMD released games that is, I would opt for a 4 GB card. You can find them for about $20.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I got the 3000 model a week ago (Which came with Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets UMD Movie). I have the following games for it so far:

Daxter (Better than Ratched & Clank IMO)
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Pretty good so far)
Lumines II (Have not played yet)
Ratchet & Clank Size Matters (Got tired of it)

I plan on getting these games in the future

Burnout: Legends
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee

Know any other good games?

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I got the same bundle you did. So far I bought God of War and Final Fantasy 1 and 2. Don't forget to download your free copy of Everyday Shooter off the PSN.

Also, in case you didn't know, there's already a Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2. Don't have either yet, but I can't imagine the first one is better than the sequel.

I'll have to check out Daxter when I finish these Final Fantasy games.

I was lucky enough to grab a copy for $7.50 in December when Target had it clearanced. Great game. I loved the first one on PSP and this one is even better.

We should have a DVDTalk round of golf one day. It's not like anyone else would be online, sadly!

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I may end up being right about a UMD less version of the PSP. Question is will it be a completely new PSP generation or just another incremental upgrade of the current one? I really see Sony going all digital distribution with this handheld though. They will get the back catalog of games on PSN and eliminate their piracy issues. Probably get the cost down to DS or below levels if it is just an incremental update to the current PSP.

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/26/so...umd-less-psp2/

If this story has validity and its just an incremental upgrade I would expect the version with the UMD drive to also stay on sale. This would be the cheap version for all the people that buy a unit and never buy UMD games anyway which looking at the pathetic PSP game sales is most of the user base.

The UMD drive can't go soon enough. It clearly does nothing to stop piracy. Sony would be better off going electronic distribution and trying to secure their stuff with DRM. Also, lower prices would discourage piracy somewhat.

What makes you think prices for downloadable games are going to be cheaper than their UMD counterpart? Removing the physical games is worse for the consumer. You will no longer have the ability to buy used games or trade any games you don't like.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Compare the price of games on the appstore compared to retail games. Puzzle Quest for $10 for example. Steam may also launch games at retail prices but they regularly have pretty incredible discounts.

I think developers and publishers are still learning how to deal with the online distribution model:
