I think it's odd that you can download some trailers from the PSN Store and transfer them to the PSP via the USB connection but then when you try to play the trailers it states it is an unsupported format.

I did pick up a cheap memory stick for my PSP the other day, 2 gig for 11.98, and I am hoping to convert a few videos I enjoy and put them on there.

I just purchased a PSP (God of War Red Bundle), but haven't opened it yet. I want to be 100% sure that I want it. Anyone looking forward to any specific games that are coming down the road? For the record, I own a DS already, so it's not like I had to choose between the two, although I rarely play my DS now!

I don't know that there are a ton of games announced that get me excited. If you have never had a PSP before, there are a lot of very good to great games available. You can stock up on a number of great titles when EB runs their b2g1 sale.

For the types of games I like, which are old-fart games RPGs and turn-based-strategy, it's the best current generation system I have by far (I have a DS, PS3, Wii, and PSP so far). For you, depends what kinds of games you like.

I just got the God of War PSP bundle as well. I can't believe GoW CoO is a PSP game! I'm almost done with it, but i have to say, it's an amazing game considering it's for the portable system. Best portable game to show off IMO (on the red PSP, extra bonus cookie points).

Remember the comments regarding there's no need to make a prequel to God of War, i.e. Krato's past was summarized nicely in GoW1? Well, i think GoW CoO bridge the gap between GoWII and the upcoming GoWIII... Very neat and beautifully made.

Sony is also releasing a BLUE Madden PSP bundle. I believe it comes with Madden, 1GB MSDuo, Beats Download and a NFL UMD.

The blue is also nice... i wonder what's on the battery cover. i might get that one too, damn it, why can't they just make quick removable snap on face plates...

Arthur Dent 06-06-08 02:48 PM

Thanks for the replies. I did end up opening the PSP, but I haven't gotten a hold of a memory stick pro duo yet, so I haven't done much with the PSP thus far. I do have one stuck pixel, but apparently there's a video one can download that can potentially un-stick the pixel? Also I read something about a program for custom firmware that can supposedly fix the stuck pixel. I guess I'll have to look into that. I can't stand imperfections in electronic devices!

DJ_Longfellow 06-07-08 08:28 AM

I like all these fancy new PSP's, but I'll continue to stick with my fat PSP. Although, I wish I never upgraded the firmware as now I'm interested to see what I can do with it...oh well.

Arthur Dent 06-07-08 11:49 AM

My stuck pixel isn't going away. :(

Anyone else get any hot/stuck or dead pixels on a recently purchased PSP? I'm debating exchanging mine. Even though it's ONE pixel, it's bothering the shit out of me!

Return it and be happy with a perfect new one. Why the heck not?

Seems like stuck pixels on PSPs aren't exactly rare. I may return it and have even more stuck pixels in my next one! I'll probably role the dice and do an exchange later today, though.

dvd182 06-08-08 03:21 AM

I had a dead pixel on mine when I first bought it, and went straight back for an exchange. Roll the dice until you get a good one, otherwise it will bother the hell out of you.

ds6161 06-08-08 04:42 PM

Why is the Farve edition blue?? Why not green??

Leechboy 06-08-08 05:44 PM

So the God of War PSP's still have dead/stuck pixels? Awesome. Thanks Sony, 3 years on the market and your quality control still sucks.

I was actually shocked my silver PSP has no stuck or dead pixels. I have yet to see any other PSP without at least one problem pixel.

Krelyan 06-09-08 12:32 AM

I got the silver PSP and have yet to have any pixel problems.

Arthur Dent 06-09-08 01:18 AM

UPDATE: I did end up exchanging my PSP. The 2nd one is perfect :)

And GoW:CoO kicks major ass!!!

Leechboy 06-09-08 02:22 PM

I just ordered a GOW psp from Amazon. Fingers crossed for a perfect one.

Good luck! I am loving my perfect GoW psp so far. Chains of Olympus is very fun.

Decker 06-16-08 12:55 AM

Just a word on two nice deals: Found several copies of Syphon Filter : Logan's Shadow for 9.98 at Target. It came out last fall and is one of the system's highest rated games (got a 9.5 from IGN). Also just picked up Downstream Panic for $14.99 - 10% coupon as part of the month-long sale at Game Stop. I tried it a little. I like it. It's kind of a cross between Lemmings and Loco Roco -a cute and challenging puzzle game. Both games are worth picking up on the cheap if you can find them.

darkside 06-16-08 08:12 AM

I know most of you don't buy movies, but I did want to mention all the $5 deals going on since I have stocked up lately on $5 UMDs. These things are worth owning for me at that price point.

GameStop still has the GamerDay sale with a bunch and Circuit City has B1G1 free on any of 20 $9.99 UMDs this week. They have some newer titles not in the GameStop sale. I picked up Casino Royale, Pursuit of Happiness, Click and Ghost Rider. If you have a newer model PSP you can watch these on your TV as well. They have the same resolution as DVD, but the colors are a bit weaker when compared to DVD.

Yea, I may take a look at Circuit City. $5 is probably the most I'm willing to pay for a UMD movie. There is some utility with owning these things.

Both of my PSPs don't have dead/stuck pixels. The phat one was purchased from CC two years ago. The slim one was purchased from BB not long ago, the GoW bundle. I guess i'm lucky then :D

slop101 06-16-08 12:38 PM

I've had dead/stuck pixels on my PSP that came back to life/unstuck themselves - in fact, I have no dead pixels on my slim PSP, whereas I had a few when it was new.
