My wife called Gamestop today. They are not taking pre-orders until they know how many they are going to get. They don't want to repeat the 360 madness they had last year. So, they said to call back every couple of days. I wouldn't think the B&M stores will know how many they are getting until a week or two before the 19th. I'm not sure what they are going to do online but, that might be the better option.

just to reiterate, I called today as well, and got the same thing. Though he did say they are waiting on a conference call for details, but wasn't sure when that would be, and also told me to call back every day or so.

if I can't get one gauranteed at Pre-order, I'll just camp out somewhere. Yes, I'm nerdy enough to do that.

edstein 09-14-06 01:29 PM

Just to reiterate, they gave me the same story about PS3's as well.

Noonan 09-14-06 01:34 PM

Gamestop near me said they weren't doing any preorders for this or PS3 because of the messy 360 launch. I registered on their web site to receive updates about preordering.

Brent L 09-14-06 01:40 PM

I just called my local EB and they told me that they'll know for sure by this coming Monday what they are going to do about pre-orders.

Raul3 09-14-06 02:10 PM

has anyone checked with gamecrazy?

DamingR 09-14-06 02:17 PM

Not to threadcrap, but you will probably be able to just to to Wal-Mart or Target and pick it up. Gamecube was not hard to get at all.

Josh H 09-14-06 02:28 PM

Indeed, as I posted in the other thread, Nintendo plans to ship 4 million by the end of the year with the US getting the majoirty of them.

Noonan 09-14-06 02:30 PM

Plus a lot of people who get PS3's will probably wait a month or two before getting a Wii if they plan on getting both. Either way I will still preorder given the option.

GoVegan 09-14-06 02:37 PM

So these just use standard SD cards? If so, I'll probably end up buying a card now to spread out the $ pain a little bit.

Me too, just because I have $160 in credit at Gamestop.

It comes with 512 MB of internal memory.. even if you SPLURGE massively on VC titles, that's going to be MORE than enough until (or if) they start releasing demos or non-classic-console VC exclusives.

PixyJunket 09-14-06 02:47 PM

I'll preorder because I just want to be safe.. and it's not like a game where I can go to Fry's and get it cheaper.

Supermallet 09-14-06 03:02 PM

I may not preorder because this is going to coincide with my move across the state, and I don't want to have $50 sitting somewhere that I can't readily get to.

As of right now, I'm not going to get mine at launch... I'll wait until the semester is over first and get one with a few controllers, Zelda, and another game or two.

So you guys can have at it! I won't stand in your way. ;)

slop101 09-14-06 05:16 PM

I'm gonna see if I can get a pre-order for a pre-order...

If they're packaging these things now, but the time they launch, I'm assuming they'll have plenty to go around.

Wick 09-14-06 05:21 PM

I've had a Wii bundle pre-ordered at Toys 'R Us, for approximately a month and a half, now. I cannot wait for it. I hope the two games are my choice, though.

edytwinky 09-14-06 06:05 PM

Wichita, KS - Gamestop and ebGames:
They handed me an e-mail from corporate stating they are still waiting to see what their allotment is before allowing preorders. Was told they expect that monday.

I heard there are going to be a bunch shipped too. But I kind of want mine on Sunday so I can play all day.

edstein 09-14-06 06:12 PM

^^^
I'm also a Shocker. Glad I'm not the only one on this board. I just moved back to Kansas 6 months ago.

Got the same story. Not taking pre-orders until they know how many consoles they're going to get.

Though they told me they'd give me a call when that happens.

I was first on the list at my local FYE when they started taking Wii pre-orders in July. I'm also #1 on their PS3 list... for their second shipment :( (which, of course, means probably March 2007 if I'm lucky)

Supermallet 09-15-06 12:13 AM

EB Games/Gamestop taking pre-orders on Zelda: The Twilight Princess for the Wii starting tomorrow.

djones6746 09-15-06 07:54 AM

Just preordered through Amazon.com.

edstein 09-15-06 07:54 AM

I'm not too worried about the games. I think there will be plenty as those available.

What's this? Is this a $350 bundle now with 2 games or what? Are you in the US?

bahgee 09-15-06 09:13 AM

Yep. Amazon.com pre-orders up now for $249.99

lordwow 09-15-06 09:24 AM

I just pre-ordered at Amazon. Saves me about $15 on tax and since I'm on the Prime free trial, free 2-day shipping. Nice work Amazon.

deadlax 09-15-06 09:52 AM

Just put in my Amazon pre-order. Hopefully they take them first come first serve and don't process them like dvd pre-orders.

edstein 09-15-06 10:06 AM

Amazon just got my pre-order as well. Thanks OP for the heads up.

No problem at all. Anyone know what the memory card situation is going to be? I read something about an SD Expansion something or other. Will you be able to save to SD cards?

pinata242 09-15-06 10:15 AM

Yes, SD is the memory expansion. What is unknown at this time is if they'll even be necessary. The 512MB internal should last you a while.

Thanks alot. I saw the internal and wondered if that was available for saving games. Excellent!!! :)

PerryD 09-15-06 10:25 AM

Thanks for the Amazon info. My Amazon Prime is running out in a week, so I went ahead and put in my order now. Thinking back, I probably should have chosen the $3.99 next day shipping on this order.

edstein 09-15-06 10:49 AM

Shipping estimate from amazon is October 2 - October 12. Sweet! ;)
