most stores get 18 units (4 can be for employees), a very few will get 36...I told people to show up at 9 at least.

I'm heading over to the local GS in a few to wait.

Good luck to the rest of you in getting your Wii preorders!

Do they open at 9 or 10?

I'm showing up at 10. If the Wii sells quicker than the PS3 (which lasted a half hour here), then I don't know what to tell you.

I drove by an EB in a stripmall last night around 10:30PM, and there were already people lined up. They did the same thing for the PS3 earlier this week. A friend of mine just went to the GameStop in the nearby mall at around 8:30AM and was 4th in line for the PS3.

It seems going to one in a mall is the best bet, since people can't camp out all night, and also, those stores are getting the larger allotments (36) from what I hear.

I'll likely show up around 10 as well, and if I miss out, I will just hit up Wal-Mart or Best Buy on the release.

Shit. Well, I've got three Gamestops in spitting distance from my work so I should be OK.

Some people really need to get lives, seriously... I've never even lined up to purchase an actual console, but I can somewhat understand the excitement there. I imagine it's kinda like waiting a few hours in line for a huge summer blockbuster. The anticipation can make it somewhat fun. But to line up for a few hours for a preorder? Please...

I'd say 12 hours is a little more than a few. I can see lining up at 8 in the morning for a 10 opening, but 10 the night before?

I totally agree with you there. Of course, I work at Full Sail, which is one of the big game programming colleges out there, and we have more than our fair share of stinky hardcore gamers* who don't have vehicles, and that's the only EB/GameStop within walking distance from the school.

*No offense to any students or stinky hardcore gamers that may be reading this.

I think they've totally underestimated demand for this console. Don't know anyone (even in the suburbs) who showed up after 9 who got one, yet. Thankfully I still have my amazon pre-order.

I just got home from EB Games. I got there at 8:30 this morning and there was one guy already waiting in line. About twenty minutes later, people starting coming to get in line.

I'm glad I got there when I did. The manager said they were only doing ten pre-orders. After the tenth one was sold, they would be no more and they would have to try their luck at another store. There was around 15 people already in line by then.

I was number two so I'm in. I also pre-ordered Madden 07, Excite Truck and Zelda plus two classic controllers. After my trade ins, my total was around $420 bucks. That's not bad imo, i've been saving up all year for this. Now I wish November 19th would hurry up and get here.

Wow. You guys are making me wish I preordered.

I'm still sticking to Sams Club. Hoping for that Wiimote bundle.

Just got back from trying to pre-order, thats right trying. They were "sold out". (EB)

Here's the catch though, they only were allowing 12 to be preordered which indicates to me they plan to be pushing bundles of crap per usual with most of their units. Do the math and its easy to see they should be able to offer up quite a few more then 12...

Not to worried though, still will be able to get one launch at Target or what have you.

I have two EBs in my area. I drove to the first one and it was closed at 10:15. The closed sign was up and metal grates were over the windows.

I got to the 2nd one at 10:25 and the dickhead who worked there said they were sold out. He had some snotty attitude like I was some sort of asshole for thinking they would still have preorders left.

So I went back to the first one and it was still closed. I sat in the parking lot of the mini mall for a few minutes. Then 2 people walked out of the store. Then a guy walked into the store. So I decided to go up to the door and walk in and see what was up. Apparently they were open the entire time, but pretended to be closed for some reason. So right when I walked in, the guy at the counter said he was sold out of preorders and the guy who walked in before me got the last one. That really pissed me off.

When I called, I got as far as "Are you still taking--" before the dude interrupted me and told me "No." Not surprising considering it was 10:05 when I called. I should toss a bag of shit in there and run away. That'll learn 'em!

I drove past the store closest to me at 9:45 and there was a line out the door a good twenty people deep. Not knowing how many that store would get, I drove to the other closest one (a few miles down the road), went in the store, and waited in line. The line was about 50% people in their 20s and 50% grandparents. I had to write down the words "SD Card" when I was explaining to a nearby grandmother that paying $60 for a 1GB SanDisk memory card was idiotic.

I left the store at about 11:00 and they had about a dozen systems left, with a line of about ten people behind me. I was #20.

So what are the odds of me getting one at launch now? I will not camp out at Best Buy or Walmart.

I got to a Gamestop near me around 8:30 and I was about 22nd or 24th in line and we weren't sure at first how many they had and then someone came out and counted up to 27 I think so I lucked out. I also pre-ordered another remote, nunchuk, 1 gig memory card, Red Steel, and COD3. YAY me. I guess Zelda is being bumped back to December too.

When the DS Lites launched, the local Gamestop was sold out for two weeks and Wal-Mart's stock was continuously replenished. There should be plenty of Wii for evewiibody. (groan)
