Pre-order Wiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!

http://www.gizmodo.com/assets/resour...ntendo-wii.jpg

Yes! The Nintendo Wii is officially on preorder! And the best part? It looks like you don't have to put any money down - at all. Many sites have had Wii game preorders for quite some time, but Liksang may be the first to allow pre-orders on the console.

With no money down (just like the Real Estate) I'm not sure how committed Liksang will be to getting you a console right away at launch, but for those who can't wait to play with the Wii, this may be a good option. – Mark Wilson

Preorder Wii thanks Adam!

Interesting.

Maybe we have a slim chance of it being $150 for just the Wii and 1 nunchuck/wiimote, and $200 for 2 controllers and Wii Sports?

I doubt it, but that's the only way I could see a $150 tag.

Supermallet 09-10-06 11:46 PM

Agreed. $150 for two controllers, two attachments, a game, and maybe an SD card seems far too good to be true. Heck, even if it's not too good to be true, pricing the console that low with so much stuff bundled in might lower its perceived value.

Brent L 09-10-06 11:48 PM

Watch it end up being $249.99, with only they system and one controller. I would hate that, but I would have to laugh about it.

I don't know. People bitch that they don't want to spend $200 for Gamecube 1.5 with gimmicky controllers. So, $150 with a game and two controllers sounds about right to play last gen software(relatively speaking).

Drexl 09-11-06 12:04 AM

I don't think $150 would work, because they'll want to have room for two major price drops throughout its active life. I can't think of a console that has ever been lower than $99 while being actively supported (not counting clearances, redesigns after its successor is released, and reissues).

$20 price drops would allow three before it drops under $100.

But I agree, $150 isn't a smart business decision. But who knows, maybe that kind of thing would work. Nintendo's goal is to get different audiences involved. Gamers are buying it at any price, ballers like Snoop Dogg will get it if it's expensive, and lower class citizens will get it if it's cheap. Now, if ballers outweigh the poor, expensive is better. But if there are more poor than rich, cheaper is better.

And about this:

This is very true. But honestly, if it gets blindingly good reviews, you'd get it even if it looks cheap.

Well, $50 was what I meant by a "major" price drop. :) $20 isn't going to get attention and cause many people to take the plunge.

Brent L 09-11-06 12:34 AM

Don't get too caught up on that $150 price point.

Just sayin'...

Sweet. Things are looking rosy for Wii fans. :)

Through all that I've seen about the Wii, I only just now looked up information about the size. Holy crap is this thing tiny or what?

[Alan Jackson]Well it's alright, to be little bitty...[/Alan Jackson]

I'm sure everyone else in the world knows this, but there you go anyway.

And these videos are decent for anyone who doesn't already know a lot about the Wii:

Wow, I think they compared the Wii to damn near everything, it is much smaller than I realized.

 That's almost worth being an avatar.

Absolute Zero 09-11-06 11:57 AM

I find it amazing that while all the other consoles get bigger (with the exception of Saturn to Dreamcast), Nintendo's consoles decrease in size as the technology expands.

I'm sure if Sony or Microsoft's offerings went with lower "power" like Nintendo, their systems would be smaller too :)

CR picked up on a pretty big piece of news on the ESRB website. Very nice find on their part! You can find seven classic Sega titles listed in the ESRB database that are now scheduled for the Wii. Check out the list below.

Altered Beast
Ecco The Dolphin
Columns
Golden Axe
Ristar
Sonic the Hedgehog
Toe Jam & Earl

Only 2.5 days to go!

Supermallet 09-11-06 10:15 PM

Oh damn, I would buy almost all of those games.

Duder 09-12-06 02:02 AM

Altered Beast? Golden Axe? Oh hell yes! The Wii's gonna give me a nostalgiattack.

Michael Corvin 09-12-06 06:46 AM

Majesco is on board with the Wii now. Bust-a-Move: Revolution is in the works.

Gotta laugh at the name. Did they get the memo about the name change?

DRG 09-12-06 10:01 AM

Golden Axe for the Genesis is possibly my favorite multiplayer game of all time. The hours we used to spend on that one...

Liver&Onions 09-12-06 11:17 AM

Time to start a new Wii thread...just in time for the big announcement on the 14th.
