Agreed. Halo was carefully tailored to the controller and does a decent job of being playable with analog sticks. Faster-paced FPS games are awful on 'em.

But the anti-PC gamer folks saying you need to spend $1000 a year to play PC games, you're on crack. Sure you can ride the bleeding edge of technology if you want to play the newest games at high-resolution, and MAYBE spend that much. I was gaming just fine on a $49 AR vanilla x800 and a $350 PC build from 1.5 years ago. I recently did a few upgrades, but that's because I stepped up to a huge 24" CRT monitor @ 1920x1200 resolution.

PC gaming realistically runs about $300 every few years. A simple video card swap every few years at around ~$150 catches you up pretty well, with a major CPU/motherboard upgrade of about $200 or so needed every 3 years or so, tops. If you're spending $1000 a year then you're either hardcore or really bad at buying computers.

I'm no huge fan of PC gaming myself. But for some genres, like RTS games, turn based strategy, some kinds of RPGs, and FPS games, there's no substitute for a mouse.

Giving up PC gaming would mean giving up games like Civilization, Baldur's Gate II, Battle for Middle Earth, etc. No way. Companies are trying to adapt to analog sticks for everything but they simply don't cut it for many different kinds of control.

Anyway, I'd love to see a workable keyboard/mouse setup for the 360. But it looks like only Nintendo is trying to find a workable solution to the control limitations of a console.
