I got ending A the first time I played through the game. I did all the case files, sacrifing many side missions and survivors. I just didn't have the time, nor wanted to take on too much and miss my chance at finishing the story and all the cases.

At 10 am on the 4th day, I didnt' have a cut scene at the hideout. At least that I can recall. My last day went like this.

Once the Special Ops guys enter the mall, there is a cutscene with Jesse in the security room. I was already in the hideout from earlier. I made my way through the mall to the security room to get the one achivement there, Snuff Shot J. I died on my way back out by being caught by the special ops guys. So, I reloaded my game and stayed at the hideout until 10am on day 4 when the special ops guys leave. I spoke to Isabella, and there was just text on the screen.

I made my way to the helipad and waited until noon. The chopper arrives and I see the scene with the pilot waving to me and then gets attacked by the zombie. Frank just stands there stunned as the helicopter crashes. He is getting surrounded when Isabella shows up, shakes him out of it and kills some zombies. That was a cutscene.

My game ends, I get ending A, and Overtime mode starts.

That sounds identical to what I have done. That's why I'm thinking I'm not standing in the right spot on the roof or something. I know I spoke to Isabella, and it was just text, but I'm not sure about the time. It might have been before I headed back to the security room though.

Well that sucks if I'm screwed. It will be the first time the save system has screwed me, since I know neither of my two saves are that early.

Canis Firebrand 09-18-06 01:29 PM

You had to speak to her before the special ops guys left. That was 10am. You should have seen the scene with them leaving, regardless. I don't know if there was a specific spot you have to stand, I just stood at the edge of the helipad on the circle.

I did talk to Isabella via the walkie-talkie, but do I need to actually go to her location?

yes.

Thanks for the tips Vryce and L&O. Got ending A on my lunch break, kicking in Overtime mode.

Turns out one of my saves was 8 am., so I was good to go.

Is ending B what you get if you were captured once by the special OPs and still finish the game?

I think I'm going to go for PP stickers next time in, but quick question. How do I snap the ones on the clock tower? I couldn't seem to zoom in far enough. Stand on top of the car? I got about 1/3 of them so far. If I start over do the PP stickers reset as well? It says 1 Play, but does that mean one play through the 72 hours, or one play w/o dying and continuing on?

Canis Firebrand 09-19-06 01:16 PM

The achivements that say 1 Play mean one play through 72 hour mode. So, if you start a 72 hour mode and finishe and start a new one, any progress you made towards an achivement will be erased. That is unless the achivement says Total. Then it will carry over between games.

Most of the achivments are 1 Play meaning you cannot get everything in one game run. Because of the way you have to balance time and missions, you simply cannot do everything in one 72 hour game.

That's what I figured, just thought I would double check.

Argh...having a hell of a time beating Carlito when he has that big-ass sniper rifle on the second floor. I can't seem to get near him to get in a shot with a melee weapon since he immediateley runs and drops a grenade and I only have a handgun and a sickle now. Meanwhile useless Brad is running around and getting his ass tagged and killed eventually. Any tips would be appreciated.

This took a few tries for me as well.

Go to the opposite end of the hall and go upstairs. This puts Carlito between you and Brad. Work your way towards him(on the oposite side of the pedway), hiding behind the pillars. Wait until Brad comes out to shoot him and Carlito will aim at Brad. Come out from your hiding spot and lay into him. As I'm sure you've seen, you don't have a lot of time to hesitate as Brad seems to go down pretty quick.

I believe I used the uzi to take him down, with a few bullets from the handgun to finish him off.

Good tip about the other end of the walkway. I will try that. Now to find an Uzi in that area :(

I ran into the sporting goods store on the second floor near the escalator and grabbed the hockey stick. Then I hid behind one of the pillars. I would pop out, shoot a puck at Carlito, and then hide again. Took awhile, but I eventually beat him without getting shot too many times.

There's one in the fountain right before that area.

sracer 09-22-06 01:38 PM

Has anyone else noticed that the zombies get more aggressive as you level up? Since I stink at videogames, I figured that I'd work on leveling up before attempting to complete the cases.

When I first started playing, all the zombies were shamblers and there was an oddball "swiper" who would take a swing at me. But none moved quickly, and none ran.
I'm at level 23 now, and there's a lot more "swipers" and quite a few now move more quickly, and now I get the oddball "runner"... a zombie that actually runs.

Anyone else experience this?

Woohoo

If I can't take him out with the uzi I will try the hockey pucks. I really wanted to grab his head with the sickle though LOL

This is the method i used. It actually works pretty well.

I beat him with a Nail Gun.

I tried that originally but didn't have any luck.

This is exactly what I did, except I actually just stood behind the pillar at the corner by the top of the escalator and the sports store and let Brad take him out. For some reason if you don't go upstairs Brad will quickly die, but if you are up there with him he almost takes no damage, while damaging Carlito with each shot. So I just waited for him to take all his energy down and all the time Carlito never came past the pillar and couldn't shoot me. I discovered you have to get at least one shot on him or he'll just keep running around with no energy bar, but it was easy with the hockey puck. Thanks for the tips!

I got on the opposite side he (and Brad) are on, and got parallel , or past him. Him aiming at you, in a direction 90 or 180 degrees opposite from Brad, was enough for Brad to hit him and take him out.

I bought a 360 on Friday just so I could play Dead Rising, and I haven't decided yet if I like it. I like the free-form, the huge number of zombies, the large variety of things to do and weapons to use. The MAJOR turn-off for me are the boss fights. I guess this isn't too surprising since I hate boss fights. Carlito, convicts, grocery ... BLECH! (I just finished the 'get the medicine' mission')

ytrez 09-29-06 08:14 AM

I despise the boss levels and the convicts in the jeep in the courtyard. Though I've only tried them a couple of times, the guy in the Home Depot-like store and the guy in the gun shop are kicking my ass.

For the gun shop guy, as soon as that part starts run behind the display rack that is near the counter where he is. Use it for cover while he unloads his six shots. As soon as he begins reloading the shotgun, pick up the display jump behind the counter and drop the rack there and have it between you and him. If dropped correctly, he will not be able to get by it and will just keep shooting the rack. Pick up some weapons that are on the wall and wine if you need health and just start blasting him around the edges of the rack of the display till he dies. Try not to run out in the open because he can still shoot you there and if he does it enough the rack will just disappear for some reason.

As for the Home Depot guy can't help you there, since I lasted about 30 seconds before dying no matter what I tried. I went to gun shop since it was right around the corner and was much easier.

Michael Corvin 09-29-06 08:49 AM

It's definitely funny seeing which bosses people have a problem with. I had no problems with the Home Depot guy, but I am having problems with the gun shop guy.

Home Depot guy just requres running and gunning. Don't stop to aim with the right trigger, just get some space between you and him turn around and shoot a couple bullets. At least one is bound to hit. Start running again to get distance and repeat.

This method tends to work with a number of bosses. Stopping to aim is a killer.

DRG 09-29-06 09:51 AM

My strategy for Home Depot guy was to climb up to the top of the shelves, the best are the ones in the middle of the store. He'll jump on top of there and throw some explosives on the floor. 95% of the time we won't throw them anywhere near you. Just blast him with your guns when he jumps up there. If you run out of ammo there are nail guns on one of the shelves that work just as well for this. This process is a bit time consuming but will keep you alive. If you're in a time crunch, though, you might want to take a less cautious approach.
