I really do hate that clown on that one mission. It's just not fair how he gets to have chainsaws and I'm using baseball bats.

I finally beat him today. I'll put this in spoiler tags just in case
Spoiler:
What I did was use my handgun (there's a bunch of zombie cops near the bookstore on the upper level with guns) and tried to keep my distance. The Clown eventually blows up these balloons to throw at you. While he was blowing up the balloons, I just shot him so he couldn't block. And if you shoot the balloons near him, the poison will affect him too, giving you an opportunity to shoot him even more.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see his death scene. As soon as I killed him, I got the achievement unlocked pop up, so I hit the guide button to see what it was. I'm used to games pausing when I hit the guide button, so I assumed this game would pause as well. I guess it doesn't pause during cutscenes, because while I was reading the achievements, I could still hear the sounds of the cutscene, and by the time I went back to the game, the scene was pretty much over. Guess I'll just have to catch it next time.

hmm, so i picked this up yesterday. I really liked the demo an read some of the complaints about the full version but I'm still disappointed. The whole thing with time limits keeps me from doing any of the side missions. Also, I've already had one incidence where I failed a story objective for no apparent reason
Spoiler:
i had just returned to the security room with the first aid kit and just as it completed that mission it said the other didn't start until 11am; then about a second later it failed and locked out all the subsequent story missions
I'm going to give it another day or two but i have a feeling i might be selling this. It's just too frustrating having to stick to a schedule in a freaking video game!

Put me down in the hate it camp. The fact that the game seems to encourage you to start over with your "beefed up" stats irks the heck out of me. Plus, not being able to shoot while moving in the first person perspective is frustrating. This is especially true for the fight with the

convicts.
At least I didn't pay full price for it...I'll be using this as a trade-in for Saint's Row.

same thing happen to me Cardiff. When I looked at my watch it was 12 already, so I guess we just took too long on the earlier missions.

Yeah, but it does not give you the description of the achievement, just the name of it

I used that trick to beat him, what happens in the cut scene is
Spoiler:
he falls on his chainsaws and it cuts him up, then I took his chainsaw and used it to beat Carlito later on.

So far I havn't had any problems with time. If anything most of the time I'm doing the side missions and killing zombies to pass the time untill the next case opens up.

Yeah when I heard about the timed parts my excitement for this game dropped dramatically. I hate timed shit.

Ok, I just picked up the game yesterday....didn't get a chance to play it yet though. What should I remember about the SAVE situation? What exactly do you do if you die?

You get 2 options when you die.

1. Load Saved Game. This will put you back to your previous save and you will lose any progress made after you saved.
2. Save status and quit. This will save your current level and stats but you will have to restart the entire game.

Also when you save you get similar options.
1. Continue. Which means you want to keep playing your current game...either now or later on.
2. End. Which does the same as option 2 when you die...so be careful!

Other than that, it isn't too bad. Just look on your map for the big 'S' symbols , those are all the save locations. The locations are either the sofa in the security room or bathrooms.

Did anyone else notice that when you traverse from section to section that the zombies respawn? I went from the food court to the Al Fresca Plaza, cleared out the section from the doors to the gym, turn around and go back to the food court... immediately turn around and go back to Al Fresca.. BAM! the place is crawling with zombies and there are no carcasses of those that I killed.

I hate not being good at video games.

Are you sure about that for End? I thought I picked End once and it basically just ended that session and when I restarted the next time it was back at the save (storywise).

Okay, that might be the case. I was just assuming that was what it was doing since people were complaining about picking the wrong option and losing their progress. But maybe that was just the option when you die, although I thought that option was obvious what it would do.

I've been able to make some more progress in the game and it's so irritating because this game could be incredible if it was more open ended, I think that's why I'm so bummed. The game itself is good don't get me wrong but it could've been great.
Oh, BTW the lawnmower and pruning sheers are the coolest weapons I've come across so far!

I haven't used the shears yet, but I loved the lawnmower. I also liked the parasol. It doesn't do too much damage, but you can clear a path through the worst traffic imaginable. I think my least favorite weapon so far were the gems from the jewelry store.

OK, so how the hell do you kill Carlito when he's in the Food Court running around on the balcony? All I have is the handgun.

I used either a bat or a guitar, I forget which. From where you meet Brad, go through the door and save at the gym, then find a good weapon and go back and beat Carlito's ass!

After restarting for the fifth time, this game is going on half.com. Sorry, Capcom, you made a stinker that would have been great with just a few minor tweaks.

After having to restart twice yesterday, I was about to say the same thing... but I didn't realize there's a bathroom/save point in the gym near the food court. Why aren't the restrooms labeled on the map?

How do you get up to the balcony?
