Oh snap!
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/8...ture005sr1.jpg They might already be sold out, but if you're in the OC area, PM me and I'll let you know where to get it. |
Whoa! I just pm'd you but I wouldn't be surprised if you're too busy playing right now to even notice any PM's.
Congrats on the early find. |
I have egg rolls, taquitos, poppers, pizza, beer and soda ready for saturday night
:D |
Whoa.

Impressions after about an hour of playing it:
It sucks... kidding - it's a blast, and I'm sure it'll be what everyone expects it to be. No real surprises as to it's quality. As for me, after it forced me to do a quick systems-update, I jumped into classic mode to try out the gameplay (I just used the sideways wiimote for controls, and didn't bother whipping out my wavebird or classic-controller). My last Smash Bros. was on the N64, and I never played Melee, so I'm more than a little out of practice. But I had fun with a few matches and picked up on the basics without going into a tutorial. After getting into the swing of things, I headed over into the adventure mode, and I figure I'll play through that to unlock everything before anything else. It's "story" is incomprehensible, but still sort of charming. Anyways, the game controls fine, though I still need to get better, as I'm still playing it as if it's Street Fighter. And the stages are amazing - some of them can be bland, but most of them are very creative and a few are even works of art. The only negative thing that has bothered me so far is that when the camera has to zoom out (either due to many characters on the screen, or giant characters), it can be impossible to see what's going on and what you're doing. But besides that, it's more than rosy. |
The latest update from the official site is too cool! :D

I love that Pikmin stage.

I've never played a smash brothers game before so I had a few questions for you guys. I'm not a fan of the fighting genre and this seems like a fighting game with nintendo characters. Is it more than just that or at the end of the day is it just a fighting game? Are the other modes just more fighting or is there actual quests to go on like if you play as link would you be sent to a dungeon? Even if I'm not a fan of the fighting genre will I enjoy it?
|
First of all, it is a fighting game, but not the traditional kind, like Street Fighter.
There are many different modes you can do, like adventure mode (2D sidescroller), event matches like the homerun derby, and a lot more. The more you play, the mre things get unlocked. I've still unlocked maybe about half, but I really can't be sure. |
I'm not a huge fan of the series but I am going to the midnight launch of the game and getting a copy. My buddy is hoping to get a Wii soon and this is the game he has already said he is getting right away. I also figure that since so many people here are getting it I will get more use out of my Wii. The only time I turn it on now is when the drive glows or we have company over. I am looking forward to finally owing one of these games and I hope I enjoy it and get good enough at it to stand a chance of surviving online.

Wi-Fi
Was able to snag a copy of this earlier and am enjoying it. Was finally able to find some people to play on Wi-Fi about an hour ago. For anyone else who already has this, did you find the wi-fi play to be extremely laggy? I'm hoping it's not me. I have 3mbps down and 650 up. On speedtest.net for the closest server I ping in the 40's to 50's. For the hell of it, tested to a server in Seattle and pinged at 100.
Would love to hear anyone else's experiences with the Wi-Fi so far. |
Where are you guys getting a copy of the game already?
|
|
When you do WiFi is their a banner next to the persons name so you can see if your playing with someone in America or Japan? I imagine it might be a bit laggy.
|
I was playing on the play anyone mode. It doesn't give you any information regarding who you are playing. Not sure what they do for friend mode as I don't have any friend codes for this game yet. I can say that I just played a few matches and it was running much much better. Must have been playing against someone with a bad connection last night.
|
I don't think nintendo does region checking or ping checking when matching people up. I think they just kind of do it at random. However, I doubt it would match you with people from different countries, but maybe.
|
I can't believe the line at the location I got my copy from. It was very impressive. I met some cool people in line. The funny thing is that luckily these people all had a system other than a Wii so I was able to give them my Gamertag or PS3 ID since exchanging, and of course using, friends codes sucks.
|
Well just got home and about to pop it in... Wasn't going to wait in line, but we were walking home from the movies, and it was about 5 mins before they were to open so I said what the hell.
|
OMG, since when did Princess Peach have the ability to grab turnips out of her ass?
