Smash Bros. Brawl E for All 2007
Going into E for All I wasn't sure what to expect from SSBB. I was half nervous, and half excited. Nervous that maybe this time Nintendo had done something drastic to the game making it nothing like Melee. Working where I do you get to hear a lot of "insider info". Mostly from those who act as if the producer is calling them every five seconds begging for approval. The other half of me quiet the opposit, because well damn it...I get to play BRAWL! Smash was playable on two different control schemes, classic controller, and remote only. I mostply played remote only, the classic controller lines got worse as the days went by.

Characters available were
-Mario
-Samus
-Ike
-Link
-Metaknight
-Sonic
-Pikachu
-Yoshi
-Bowser
-Peach
-Pit
-Fox
-Peach
-Donkey Kong
-Diddy Kong
The remote only proved to be pretty challenging namely because when I play
Melee I use the X button to jump. By the third day I fell into my groove and started to get comfortable with this method of control. My first day playing as Link I screwed up my bomb throwing and ended up getting myself KO'd. Smash is always a mixed bag among many gamers, most praise it for it's simplicity, and others curse it for not being deep enough. Those who have played the game for years and discovered the "advanced techniques" will have to learn the game all over again. Perhaps not all over again but from what I could gather playing this demo wavedashing is gone.

Playing any game over the years you get comfortable with how it handles. Playing Brawl in comparison to Melee the characters feel heavy, and have a slight float in their jump. Melee's physics had characters of similar size feel heavier than the other depending on how you play said character. With Brawl it feels as if every character (at least in relation to their sizes) move at about the same speed. The only exceptions were Bowser (naturally) and Ike. It has been a while since I've played Smash with any items turned on, and it looks as if I may have ot start doing so again when this game finally comes out. Assist trophies are helpful, annoying (I'm looking at you Mr Resseti and especially you Nitendogs Lab) but all in all fun. It does sadden me that Little Mac is a trophy and not a playable character.
The stages in this game are gorgeous, of the stages revealed (visit the Smash Dojo) theses were playable...
-Battlefield
-Delfino Plaza
-Yoshi's Island
-Lylat Cruise
-Bridge of Elden
-Smashville
-Skyworld
-Castle Siege
-Pokemon Stadium 2
and making its debut at E for All Norfair. Lava is a problem with this stage, and it sucked getting caught in the waves from the left, right, and center of the stage. Luckily there are small (and I do mean small) safe rooms that radomly appear. Final Smashes are extremely satifying, however they are a little broken. The smash ball cannot be picked up you have to hit it enough times to claim the smash ball. Grabbing the smash ball is not enough, and if not used right away you can have the ball taken from you. To perform a final smash simply hold down the 1 button and let the attack connect. If you miss the attack the final smash will not be performed. Final smashes can be used to save you (depending on character). For example I witnessed Sonic falling off the stage, but once he activated his final smash he was able to recover. These attacks can also be performed at the peak of your jump, and in some cases is helpful (Mario comes to mind) but again certain final smashes have to connect with an enemy to work.
That's all I really got I hope this was helpful, if not ask away and I'll do my best to answer your questions. This E for All event just made that Feb 10th release date bearable.

Brawl would have been released this week before the delay.
But at least we know the game will be that much better when it hits in February.
Here are some cool screenshots from the official site:
Mario's intro -

Link's alt colors -

Samus taunt -

Sonic taunt -

Gray Fox Assist Trophy -

Saki (Sin & Punishment) Assist Trophy -

Sorry, I didn't go through this thread, but I have a question?
Does anyone know if this game will have the "side-scroller" side game like Melee had? Remember? Where you go throughout the levels like the old 2-D platformers.

SSBB delayed until March 9th
Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.
I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

It'd be sweet if it was for voice chat, but I highly doubt that.

I'm guessing the delay is for online and balance. They can't really patch the game like the hard-drive based consoles can, can they? They pretty much have to nail it now, since the Smash games seem to be a once-per-system affair, rather than annual updates.
