It took me right about 10 hours to finish and I thought it was a pretty good length for the type of game it is. I do love a 40 hour epic RPG now and then, but those take me months to finish these days. The 10 hours was on normal difficulty, I'll probably go back later to do the Challenge of the Gods and play the game through again on God difficulty.

Took me about 10 hours, too. I think that's just about perfect for a game of this sort. Any longer and it could have become tedious. As it was, I had a lot of fun with it. Loved the "Megataur" boss battle.

Well if you play it all in one setting, or spread it out, you tell me what is better.

Same amount of time invested in the game either way was my point.

But I look at games in strict $ per hour of gameplay terms to judge if I got my moneys worth (like to keep it around $1-2 per hour), so that probably sways me in that direction.

I agree on the length to an extent.

I have no problem with a 10 hour game per se, just a problem with paying more than $10-20 with it as I like to keep in my aforementioned $1-2 per hour of gameplay limit.

I never put value on the quantity of hours. It's the quality that counts. RPGs where I spend time doing level grinding I don't enjoy or dungeon crawling to see the next sequence is just not my thing.

That's a good point. If a game is 40 hours long, but not nearly as fun and additcing then a 20 hour long game, which one would you rather play.

Yeah, of course quality is more important.

I'd rather play a great 20 hour game than a drawn out 40 hour one. However, I'd much rather play a great 40 hour game than a great 20 hour game as I get more value for my money.

I finally rented this, and while it was cool, I quit after falling off the spinning blades at the end 50 times. I just didn't have the time to keep trying.

I beat the game this past weekend. Excellent game. The designers really captured the essence of hell
Spoiler:
a bunch of jumping puzzles
. It took me a while to get back up the the surface, but it was worth the trouble. Can't wait for the sequel on PS3.

God of War just started it

I know there is thread here it but couldn't find it probably because all the words in it are 3 letters or less.

Any way I started this because I needed some mindless violence, so it was either this or GTA:SA. Oh I guess I also have a dragon ball game I haven't played yet. I think I have given up on RE:4, just don't like the way it handles. Feel like I'm fighting the camera in that game.

Yeah well this game is indeed violent. No way I'd let a kid touch this one. Yeah there is a sex minigame in here but heck if you let your kid play this it really isn't that bad since you don't see anything except some boobs. This game will have you ripping off bird people wings, shoving your sword down the throats of bull headed guys, pulling out eyes, cutting people down (some of which I think are innocent people), and boy does it look nice.

I must admit I didn't expect it to be this over the top. Someone should do count of all the different ways you can kill people in this game.

I really don't know what is going on in the game. So far all I know i my guy has bad dreams and he must do the gods bidding to get rid of them. Considering the first scene in the game I'm pretty sure he is getting played somehow.

I'm currently playing on normal and just took medusa's head. The only negative is the jumping crap and walking on beams. I fell off those things 100 times it seems like.

I agree. The last level is hard as hell.

Anyway, God of War is the best hack-n-slasher on PS2 by far. It also had a fairly good story to it (unlike most games of this nature). I can't wait for God of War 2.

I'm currently near what I think is the end of the game, and I loved every minute of it so far. Definitely frustrating at points, but in that good kind of way.

I don't remember the beams at all - I blew through the game pretty fast though.

I loved that game all the way up to the end, and never finished it cause
Spoiler:
I thought the fight with the boss where you both grow to giant size was annoying and I didn't have the time or energy to spend playing it over and over again.

Overall great game though, and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
