I just beat it. 9 hours 9 min on normal. My hand still hurts from all the button mashing from the Hades levels to the end. And the end is awsome. Lets hope you get to tear shit up with the Blades of Athena in the sequel. Great game.

Damn, that's tempting. But I still can't see $33 for 9 hours of gameplay. Especially when I have enough on my plate gamewise as is for the next month or two....
Still tempting though as I'm dying to play it after the EGM review.

I don't consider this just a once time through game. I'm going through it right now on the normal level but will definitely be going through this again on the next 2 harder levels. The scenery itself is worth going through it again. Sure I'll know how to solve the puzzles, but the pure battle of me against 50 or more enemies will make it just as fun each time through.

So the dilemma is pay $33 now and have it sit on the shelf for a while, or just wait longer and pick it up even cheaper down the road.
I think I'll force myself to go with the latter, given my aforementioned terrible budget at the moment.

I'm at the final battle now, but I don't even feel like going through with it. It's not "hard" to me, it's just nerve wrecking in my opinion. It's not as fun as most of the game up to this point, ugh.
It's my only gripe with the entire game.

Just scored a copy a few days ago - dang man, this is a really fun game. Its visuals and sound are top notch, and even he puzzle aspects are cool. Within the first few minutes of the game (fighting the hydra) I was hooked. If I didn't have so many other games I want to play through first, I'd probably be done this by now. Tasty stuff.

on the final battle as well.
lucky me. I finally got to the 3rd battle of the final part, and my game freezes. I do agree with Brett, the game went from being fun, to really frustrating. I hate the fact that you have to play all 3 parts over and over if you die, there is no save point inbetween if you decide you want to take a break from it.

Fighting the megataur or whatever his name is in Hades.
The part where you have to match the rotation is driving me crazy. These are times when I don't like these games on bit. Argh!

Maybe I'll get past it another time.

I finished it on normal the other day, I have to say the big Minotaur fight was the second most annoying part of the game (you haven't reached the most annoying part yet, IMO). I would get to the last rotation where it's a full circle and for some reason it would not register. I found I needed to keep rotating maybe an extra quarter circle past full circle and that seemed to do it.

finally finished the game a week or so ago in around 9 hours. got past the Ares after many many times of frustration.
there is a little way to beat the Megataur on the Hades level. after I got all of his armor off and went on to having to attack his life points directly, there is a spot on the stairs, near the top (but not at the peak), where you can stand and slowly but surely defeat the Megataur using only your Blades of Chaos (using only the square button as your combo). at this point all he does is shoot fire at the balcony area of these stairs where you shoot the log arrow, and attempts many times to charge forward. thing is you aren't in the spot he is attacking, and though I haven't tried it a 2nd time, this strategy worked fine for me when I was at the last point of beating him and was running low on health. he never attemps to attack the side of the stairs near the wall where you are.

I'm almost near the end right now and I can tell you that I'm loving the Army of Hades spell. I'm not sure there's a cooler attack than having 6 ghosts come out of your hands and clear a room, except maybe a 45 hit combo in Killer Instinct.

Still, I imagine that asianxcore flew through Jade Empire to finish it at 12 hours.

I know this topic has been covered before, but I like it when a game is around the 10 hour mark to finish. With not as much time as I used to have to play games, I still like being able to finish a game and not need to put 50+ hours into it. Not to say I don't enjoy a good long RPG now and then though. I just hate playing a game half way through and loosing interest because I can only play in spurts. God of War was a great game whether it was 5 hours or 50 hours. Well worth the money IMO. Still, I choose RE4 though for game of the year though.
